I don’t know why even to the last scene I was expecting some random phone call or like in the background while Yeong Ha was sitting on the porch that you would hear a car coming and like last frame turns around and one half of a second it would be a bright colored sports car.. Hinting that f-ing psycho still managed to somehow fake her death or something kekw…

Was weirdly finding myself intrigued into one of those endings but of course best possible ending even though I feel like the Yeong Ha deserved some kind of jail time..

I’m on episode 18 and this is a warning for people sensitive.. The first episodes with flashbacks was worst because of the abuse and domination ML did and locking away the FL etc.. But since the ML has at least once sometimes twice per episode tried to sexually assault the FL and force his ”love” on her while she is resisting..

I don’t really care about justifications about everything being misunderstandings etc it’s still mega uncomfortable watching him frustrated like choke her, tie her down, lock her up and try and assault her like once a episode…

Is this what romance is 2024? Sometimes you wonder if like Andrew Tate is co-wroting some of these scripts…

Hu Yi Yao is amazing usually and so underrated!! But the score is scaring me 5.5/10 on MDL is like 2/10 on IMDB since MDL usually super biased and
generous with everything is usually above 7.5 no matter what.

Richard Li awesome as usual, so happy he’s graduated from 10 min episode mini dramas to 20 minute episode semi mini dramas!! Great step in right direction for hopefully full drama lead roles!!

But then I have to give MAJOR props to the 2FL, I can’t remember seing her before but she’s 10/10 acting so far! Especially since after she was forced into the palace, the emotional acting during some really heavy and uncomfortable scenes where the emperor forces himself on her etc… Then her reminiscing scenes and always like teary eyed and emotional, and scenes of her begging the emperor etc she’s so good like so far she is the best thing.. Amazing give her some lead roles in mini dramas and let her test her wings because she’s ready for it!

I have a few LGBTQ friends and have no issues at all with normal portrayl of BL or GL etc but as one of those friends said was that this is very insulting for some LGBTQ people..

Like what's implied here, what's the message?.... Your soul/personality doesn't matter and you must be born in the wrong body because a man must be in a womans body to like a man or what? Like this is just making sexuality into like a joke or just laughing matter as if it's just someone waking up and chosing.

Like a womanizing toxic masculinity guy is pushed into a river, wakes up in a girls body but with his soul/personality intact but all of a sudden turns gay and ends up romancing the ML.

Then wakes up back in modern times in a hospital bed surrounded by good looking nurses he would have previously romanced, but now as everything implied he's not interested as he has fully turned gay and is then horny for his doctor who is the same as ML and I guess the ML is now gay in modern times as well...!?

Come the f*ck on this is beyond insulting.

You are insulting every single gay or lesbian out there by claiming the soul is irrelevant as if they then are supposedly in the wrong body then I guess…

If he turns out gay in modern times then this wouldn’t be a discussion but he is painted as a womanizer in modern times and is sould/mind is then put in a female body and all of a sudden he’s gay.. That’s why people complain.

First of all I’m so glad Zhao Jia Min is getting consistent lead roles and starting to pump out like 5 a year after her amazing performance in Delibirations of Love. She is really charismatic and in this she proves to be a multilayered actress capable of switching from cutesy to femme fatale to damn near scary when she switches to her revenge inner self.

But.. My god… I’m now after 8 episodes only watching this because of her amazing performance.. Because I don’t know what is going on with the ML actor casting but it’s one of the biggest differences in the quality acting between a FL and ML I’ve ever seen in a mini Cdrama…

The ML is and I kinda don’t know how to describe it but he is just unnatural and it feels uncanny watching him.. It’s like Zhao Jia Min is giving her all seducing him and acting her ass off and he just looks out of place and honestly he looks constipated and just looks like ”where am I” half of the time…

She is literally in like a monologue acting on her own it seems and I’m sorry but there is below zero of chemistry…

FL looks more excited and has more chemistry with that bird she gets and she teaches to say her name and it does, then it says her name half a minute then she has had for the rest of the 8 episodes with ML…

I’m going to force myself to watch this because ZJM is doing a great job but jesus me.. She deserves so much better counterpart lead actors.. Here’s to hoping she gets another drama with Richard Li or something….

Amen.. Both in this and Phoenix Lands in This World.. Stiffest ML ever he’s not a good actor and nothing he does feels natural.. I can’t believe they where recasted again.. Poor Ke Ying ever since A Familiar Stranger she has had to work with amateurs.

But she’s like 12th on the credits… That’s unfortunately considered like a cameo appearance :/

Yes, the drama begins with a scene in modern days where a male CEO gets pushed into the water by a female co-worker.. Then he drowns and wakes up in the pond of a mansion and is now the FL as seen on the cover and also shown by cover he will have a romance with a man..

And yes his male concious and personality is still there and even his ”thinking voice” is the man from modern times so he is a man in a females body.

Yep as I said I love Ke Ying, she deserves at least A-tier lead roles asap… So I’m hate watching this drama now and only focusing on her parts I wish there was zero romance honestly and so far there’s none as someone said here in comment sections she has more chemistry with her maid than with ML… So I just want it to continue with her being bossy and smart and just keep scheming through the drama!

Fortunately as with all transmigration dramas they can never be ”real” so it will end hopefully her coming back to modern times and no romance with that stiff meethead of a ML.

First of all Ke Ying is a gem.. She is easily in my top 3 minidrama and below S/A-tier drama FL’s. She is great all round and has played many various characters of great diversity and done it amazingly.. But please who is her agent and management…

Ever since her best drama and one of the best mini cdramas I’ve seen A Familiar Stranger where she had S-tier chemistry and performance with Cheng Lei dhe has just gotten worse and worse projects with worse and worse male lead actor counterparts in every drama since…

And I’m sorry but I have to ask but why are these two in another drama instantly? Who asked for this? Is there even anyone after Phoenix Lands in this World who thought they had great chemistry? This must be one of those stupid Cdrama land agency thing where a actress and actor on the same company is signed on to two projects at once and is forced to do back to back productions as a contract thing due to costs etc.. Lots of those examples especially in mini dramas.

I admit if it’s all about looking at someone attractive for 4 hours sure Aaron Deng is fine but he is a subpar actor and really stiff.. I haven’t felt one second of real chemistry in now 24 episodes of Phoenix Lands in this World and now 8 episodes of this…

Please someone give Ke Ying projects with budgets and good male lead actors that she deserves PLEASE.

Then secondly and again I’m sorry if it offends anyone but is it’s just me who doesn’t understand the whole ”I transmigrate into a opposite sex body and all of a sudden I’m romantically attracted by my own real sex” trope… Like do you automatically become in essence lesbian/homosexual and all of a sudden is attracted just because you because you switch sex??????

Like your personality is transferred but all of a sudden the real ”ML” in modern times is swapped into a female body in ancient times and becomes the FL and now likes men..??

It just baffles me that this trope is popular because it makes less sense then the whole transmigration part..

I’m going to asume FL takes her own life when ML dies as the last thing she says was retelling their promise under the tree and if he is not alive she won’t be either…

Well I guess poor son will be growing up without his parents or maybe actually the 2ML is a better more stable person to take the role as father.. Because both ML and FL kinda emotionally damaged either way and maybe not good parenting material..

I liked everything about this except the ML, not the character but the stiff acting… I really felt nothing watching him try to pretend to be sad or mad or anything… I couldn’t sense any emotions from him at all unfortunately…

Otherwise the FL was the star of the show and amazing! I already liked her brief but still memorable performance in ”Stand By Me” as princess Misha she was great there as well and glad to see her get leading roles, hope she gets more!

An easy google away about ancient Chinese concubinage, customs and culture for royals and nobels shows that 16 years of age was like usually at the maximum oldest age they were chosen.

So I couldn’t think of anything more realistic unless we only should have the same usual actresses that’s actually a lot of them are pushing 30 and most of them 27-33 and still only are recycled as these concubine/princess roles and has to put on the coquettishly but high energy voices and play 16-18 over and over. You all know the same 12-15ish actresses..

Don’t you guys think instead we could enjoy the beautiful cinematography and poetic storytelling and realize instead the amazing work and that the production team and cast gave us that and they LITERALLY spared us any skinship or kiss scenes so it wouldn’t be uncomfortable!?

They instead purposefully used that with 2ML and 2FL just to be clear and prove that point and to quench the thirst of the drooling fans dreaming and waiting for steamy passion every show! Everyone got what they want without the blurred lines and uncomfortable scenes.

Instead they gave us a drama and a romance told through emotional visuals, musical score, literary poetic and deep dialogue.

Thank god for these people who dared make a more stunningly beautiful down to the smallest details drama.. More stunning and rememerable then the usual average 40 mass produced dramas a year with the same normal regular tropes where they mostly retell the same story and use the same formulas and reuse regular cast of actors.

I’m sorry but what the hell.. The biggest f-ing question is how the Empress/Consort was apparently hinted at having an affair with South General, then she tells Emperor she is pregnant but Emperor knows she is trying to kill him, fake an edict and usurp his throne..

But then nothing happens and even North Prince is casually replying to Emperor in ending scene when he asked him to stay because he will be alone with no heirs ”well you won’t be alone Consort will have your baby soon” like what!?

Is the child even his or South General? And why is she even kept alive after trying to assassinate the emperor and having an affair and why does North Prince think the emperor having the Consort and his ”maybe” child is some kind of positive thing.. Only bad memories and reminder of her treachery…

Talk about rubbing it in… Such a weird ending?

Both things aren’t mutually exclusive, she could rebuild her clan with the help of her to be husband and also she becoming queen would be even better as two royals marry for peace and harmony so she could rebuild both her clan and be empress.

Seeing some people misinterpreting the ending as a traditionally ”happy ending”.

As someone who has studied and worked with film and screenwriting I will say the last minute was only ML’s dream/lucid dream/wishful thinking.

Why? Because the whole drama is shot in a very particular way, it’s very much stylized and aperture and focus very detailed/sharp and sure it’s a lot of warm colors but when ML is drunk standing in the bar and drinking in self wallow.. All of a sudden the mood shifts as he was thinking of her looking depressed but everything gets hazy and we are introduced to slow motion and suddenly colors were turned on maximum warmth while FL magically appears and camera lens effect is on full bloom/haze and a lot of bokeh/blurred backgrounds..

It’s the most classical way of inferring a person is dreaming/daydreaming or illusioning things in cinema..

So no she never came back it was his wishful drunken dreaming.

After 9 episodes and this ML is easily the most disgusting vile narcissistic psycho of 2024 so far... Like OMG I can´t even... This is nothing but glorified and romanticized abuse fetish..

ML is crazy and abused the FL for 3+ years both physically and mentally and also after have tried to sexually assault FL like 5 times already... On top of that he now wants to take advantage of FL´s "memory loss" and act like nothing has happened, silencing and killing people that might reveal his horrific acts to FL because he wants to pretend they are a couple again like 4 years ago before his abuse....

Meanwhile FL is just faking it but how the fu*k is she able to even act cozy with the ML and let him get close to her... IF they end up together this is the most unrealistic and most problematic cdrama I´ve seen in a while... Totally insane to romanticize this type of violence and abuse as others have said this is dangerous if some people think this is OK...

This show can´t have a happy ending and the ML can only sacrifice himself to somewhat make up for what he has done to FL.

He is disgusting!
