How so please elaborate? I cant wait for the mental gymnastics you are going to do to prove to me that the Barbie movie isnt sexist while Exclusive Fairytale is.
My eyes may not work properly but I assure you my brain does. Please tell me what motivation does a female author have to portray women as intellectually inferior when most of her audience are women?
I don't like dramas where there's too much hype about actors instant of characters, so please don't overhyped…
I dont think thats the case here. I think KSH was just exhausted from River and that whole situation where she had to reshoot all scenes pro bono just so the drama could air. It was very hard on her. I dont think she intentionally choses to take 2 year breaks...
I disagree. As Ive stated previously there is ALWAYS supporting female characters that excel in academic performance. Hence not all women are portrayed this way hence it isnt sexism. This would imply that it has nothing to do with equality and you expect the female lead to be superior to the ML. This is not equality this is a desire for domination. And why would a female writer be sexist towards other women? They are written this way because most young girls had a crush on either the smartest guy in class, or the most athletic guy in class or something like that. Thats why they write it like this to resonate with the largest number of viewers possible. And to allow them to live through a little fantasy romance.
I didnt call sexism an art form I called novels that these dramas are based on an art form. Novels written by very talented and successful young women.
What the hell am I supposed to think I told you everything about the ML and FL in this. They already made the FL a black belt in taekwondo they made her almost perfect in every way except for her academic performance. While the ML... Ooh wee son, he is one step away from standing on a street corner in a trench coat flashing people.
This has nothing to do with sexism or whats damaging to young girls its about your ego.
You are walking a fine line here you are taking an art form and trying to censor or change it because you feel that its damaging to young teenage girls. What exactly are those assumptions based on, your feelings? Wouldnt it be more damaging to portray the female lead as exceling in everything while most average girls simply cannot compete on that level?
Well we have to have a frame of reference if we disagree about something. And that movie is such a prime example of misandric nu-feminist propaganda thats well known enough for it to be easy to verify what Im saying is true.
The trope that you mentioned is equivalent to the trope of the quiet handsome but still emotionally crippled male lead which has the social intelligence of a fruit fly being "healed", "saved" and "fixed" by the female lead.
Would you consider that trope, which is just as common, to be misandric?
She is too nice. Her talent saves these rich people hundreds of thousands and even millions in money or reputation.…
Oh thats not all she has. Keeping your entire net worth in 9 gold bars would be stupid. You would lose too much to the dealer when you sold it to cover expenses. This kind of thing is done by rich people they put 10%-20% in gold and its a hedge against governments covering their debt by printing money and devaluing the currency. It is said that a gram of gold always buys you a week of food. Its meant to be stored and not touched for 10+ years. If you want to save 90% + of your wealth in gold youre going to want to buy some smaller bars like 10-20g or those 10g gold bars that look like credit cards and you can tear small one gram pieces with your hand.
That isnt sexism. The FL isnt dumb at all she became a journalist which is a highly intellectual profession. There are always supporting female characters that are just as good at studying as the ML.
Sexism would be the new Barbie movie where all men are portrayed as idiots and they are all named Ken. Furthermore Matel, a company that was founded by a woman and has a majority female management, is depicted as run by evil men and a tool for the patriarchy,
Do you see the distinction between portraying an entire gender as evil and stupid and making a male character gifted and the female average?
Is this one of those super smart ML/dumb FL type of dramas?
No. The FL chosen profession is considered to be highly intellectual and noble. She is bad at school but not because she is dumb its because she is hyper. The male leads character is written as a gifted child which skipped a grade but he had a terrible personality and very poor social skills. To the point where his parents were worried about him becoming some kind of a weirdo. If he wasnt handsome he would be considered a loser.
The douban ratings went up again to 7.7 with 82K reviews (which is very high for a sweet youth drama) and 563K followers on weibo with 536K supertopic followers!
Great. The acting, the set, the camera, the costumes, the music its so, so good. This director is great he did Weightlifting Fairy and My Roommate is a Gumiho.
Oh the producing process for these things is much more chaotic than you imagine. I think WIFTY started filming first then stalled and this started filming later but finished earlier or something stupid like that. Im sure there was no way for her to know when the two dramas were going to be aired and viewed. On top of that I wouldnt be surprised if the hairstyle was requested of her by the director so she could look 16 with the bangs. I think she has the same hairstyle in Let's Meet Now, where she also plays a high schooler and that was aired in 2022.
