Not really while I was watching I had thought that it's obvious the Emperyeans wouldn't let her go so they must have been ready to wipe her out punish her to the extremes etc so Bai Jiusu made a choice out of two horrible outcomes he thought he could choose the slightly better of the worse outcomes and he probably did take some punishments in her place.
But all these are just my assumptions will have to see how the story goes.
BTW anyone blaming Hua Ruyue and saying she is wrong she deserves all of that and blab blah and blaming her for what happened or saying she killed her child 😒 🙄
Then first let's understand that the heaven the so called Emperyean and all those people aren't any innocent either infact they are one of the main contributors to all that happened to Break it down clearly.
1) The heavens knew the drought dragon had a grudge yet they gave him free pass to travel all three realms .
2) The heavens didn't punish the people who started the slaughtering of animals in Mount Wuju and made the dragons home a barren land . The people or mortals who deserve punishment here are obviously the ones who did the action. Not their fourth firth or any generation who didn't commit the crime.
3) You say the gods shouldn't change fate the gods shouldn't do that etc if they weren't meant to lend a helping hand at the toughest time or save innocents then for what reason do they have this immense power and responsibilities that they do ? Who lives on the world they are protecting and guarding? MORTALS . And to be honest Hua Ruyue was ready to face the consequences of her interference it's not that she didn't know.
It's that instead of communicating properly the first time one took the agency to decide both of their fates . But I think they both will work together now, I smell a scheme of them trying to do something together. Cause obviously something is really wrong amongst the Emperyeans.
4) Mortals who are innocent who had no crimes who did nothing wrong were saved by Hua Ruyue while the heavens and the Emperyeans stood there only preaching why she killed a divine being ?where the mortals suffering years of draught and dying due to it not innocent ? she had powers and used them for a good reason.
while I agree ther communication could have gone better. I don't think Hua Ruyue is a criminal or the one in wrong here for following what she did. She is far far better than those Emperyean people drunk in power and doing nothing but barking like dogs.

Things I really loved in today's episode was the disbelief of the student who was in love with a demon disciple and suddenly came to see his sect master being so peaceful and loving 😂.
Next I just loved how much Bai Jiusu and Hua Ruyues talk before going to the mortal realm for 10 yrs was like deep very deep things aren't simple and they never where but the writing makes it just right logic is there their perspectives are also nuanced complex and never balck and white.
And lastly I love how everything had a reason behind them the Mount Wuju being the place for drought Dragon + how from HRY's perspectives she is correct too her karma was tied to that child who saved her life and then served her for a lifetime and also to his grandchild who eventually was her disciple and she did what a master had to .

The writing is exquisite what a fresh Xianxia the plot is plotting the logic is logicing like I really really enjoy feud so much. Today's episode was a mix of angst, comedy and thought provoking philosophy 💜 Can't wait for the next episodes tomorrow.
