Tbh, I don't care much about Pei Yan. He is a good person already in ep 34 but he has done so many bad things that led to others being suffered. Yes. Glad he did not embarrass himself like in the novel, to get JC back. I am also glad that Ziming is not seen anywhere near Jiang Ci. The haters will have ammos to throw at her.

Episode 40 The emperor might not killed his brother but he told Prince Qi that the emperor did not want to pass the throne to him. Prince Qi was favored by the late emperor and the people. He also loved his brother, so for Xie Che to sit on the throne without him being a threat, Prince Qi committed suicide.
The emperor was also the one who killed Wei Zhao's sister, Consort Wei.
The emperor deserves to die, a hundred times. But why Wei Zhao has to die too??? Why have Jiang Ci see him as alive in Yueluo, at their home? It is so cruel!!!
And to have Ziming and 2nd Lady Dong on the same street without seeing each other?
I am too sad to watch ep 35-39. This drama ending is the worst for me. Wei Zhao does not need to die but the production seems to lazy to go on with other than Wei Zhao blowing the place with the emperor, even after taking down the guards. Throw the explosives and run away!!! Why can't he do that instead???? Bad bad ending!
Wei Zhao DIED in the fire, taking the emperor down with him in the explosion. No one survives.

It is possible. Pei Yan is a good person. He only lost his 'sanity' after he fell for Jiang Ci and refused to acknowledge her rejection thus starting being an obnoxious obsessive jerk. Without that 'love', he is again back to his noble person mode.
I want to point out something regarding Madam Rongguo's 'coup' in Episode 33. She actually had it planned properly…
I too believed that Mrs Pei had too much broken heart for her to be that vengeful. But when she mentioned 30 years, it means that it was the way Xie Che abandoned her and chose another crown princes that made her livid and only thought about paying him back the pain he caused her. I doubt that she ever loved Pei Zijing. She accepted him because he was the next powerful one for her. She said to the emperor that he left Zijing to be with her but then separated them. She would have loved and cared for Pei Yan if she loved her husband.
But Pei Yan implied that she did not care about him and raised him to scheme against the others from childhood. She could not harm Pei Yan by showing him a bit love at the end since she was already exiled but she chose to remain the cold mother. It is the best for Pei Yan that she is away now.
Even with that 1 reason, her cause is justified. Those who say otherwise (I saw a comment about this) may not know how scary it was to give your everything and be abandoned. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

I am watching Kdrama The Judge From Hell. Quite entertaining for me but I suppose it is not for romance lovers. Cdrama Love in the Desert. The cast lines are gorgeous but I am still trying to figure out the what, why & how of the story. I am waiting for The Rise of Ning & The Story of Pearl Girl.
