In all fairness and honesty...
Ren Jia Lun has said how this drama was going to end, in a live interview.
I ignored him and learned my lesson.
At least now I know that as much as I admire his acting, I have to wait until his next romance drama ends before deciding to watch it 😅

Time to move on to the next drama.

Sad ending

Episode 39 is the best.

Wei Zhao: I've already given you the swing. Why are you still unhappy?
Jiang Ci: I don't want the swing. I want you.

Gawd... The chemistry is chemistrifying between the main couple. Already good when they first met and he tried to kill her while she wanted him captured (thus be killed) and is the best when they are in love.

Now I can understand more why, even with 'lack kisses policy', Ren Jia Lun always nails his romance drama. Wei Zhao's expressions, the way he stares, even the little smile. All show that he is so deep in love.
And Li Landi... Kudos to baby girl, for she is so great as Jiang Ci, who loves and needs only Wei Zhao. The way she was shaking, with trembled lips, almost unable to utter the words, of her love for him.

Just finished watching the rest of the express episodes, half interested due to being overly emotional and after watching episode 39, decided that this ep is now my safe haven.

I think the whole story can be considered good, but Wei Zhao's fate.
Prod could have let him live and there was actually enough time for him to escape from the building before the explosion.
What a blunder.

Why would Wei Zhao stayed behind after he got all the answers he needed from the emperor, about his father and sister. He subdued the emperor and killed all the guards so he could just run to the door and to his love.

But No, since production has deemed that Wei Zhao must die, even with a ridiculous and unconvincing plot.
And he can remain a ghost and live with Jiang Ci and their son, weirdly ever after.

It seems that Wei Zhao never died for Jiang Ci and she keeps him alive in her mind.
Or maybe Wei Zhao turns into ghost and stays at their home.

Wei Zhao considers Jiang Ci's happiness as most important so him being dead is totally the opposite of that.
Writer should have Wei Zhao tried his best to come back to Jiang Ci, even with severe wounds, instead of staying inside the building.
After all, he has got all the most important answers from the emperor and did not need to listen to anything he said after he confessed to be the one who schemed Xiao Haitian to be the traitor and also killed Consort Wei and her baby.

Why???? Why have the good drama end this way?
There is no such thing with sad but beautiful ending, because the plot to make it sad is done terribly

Episode 40 is long enough to understand the plot and that is why it was a terrible ending.

5 years later and Jiang Ci is still considering him alive, waiting for his wife and son to come home, fresh as the morning dew, with his white clothes.

Why indeed change the plot, if they kill Wei Zhao instead of saving him?

Still, this is wuxia not xianxia where Wei Zhao can be resurrected by some magical power 🤧
