i don't think it's about the director that's director also did the double ,it is the editors who edits the episodes
The Double also has its flaws, but it is intense and more adult plotline. It also had 2 powerful villains with unique storyline. And it was the 'talk of Weibo' when Duke Su appeared with his dominating aura. It has wider range market than this idol drama. The editing and other depts usually work under the director and all work under Producer. Not sure if Cdramas have it differently
The director for this drama is the one who directed Moonlit Reunion and had the same bad editing in the some of its episodes, but tbh, it did not actually affect the whole story and the Cinematography was great, vivid and beautiful. It is the same with this drama. The jumped scene at the beginning felt like bad editing but after more episodes, it seems that the production did it that way. The changing scene felt abrupt but the story was still ongoing accordingly. The director is likely relying on viewers's intelligence to understand that not all scenes needed to be covered for the story to deliver its messages. Maybe because I like MR or have watched many wuxia, so I have been enjoying this drama since episode 1. Yes I need to rewatch the first 3 episodes for the sects, the many characters and the plotlines. Still, this drama never failed to keep me engaged and entertained and not once made me sleepy or feel like doing chores and wish the boredom will be over soon.
Having Zhou Yiran and Bao Shangen totally helped. In all his dramas, ZYR truly captivated me here the most. The visual and the character's emotions delivery are flawless and the chemistry with BSE is very swoon worthy.

Chenglei says he and Wang Churan are quite similar. On screen, Yu Wanyin is Xiahou Dan's "lifeline and love."
