A way of not having to pay for too many extras?

If the servants are faceless, then all you'd need is 1 female body and 1 male body, and you could just switch them around between the servant duties. ^^

Or perhaps they really are building up a mystery for a later reveal...

If ever there was an excuse for a cdrama to excessively use flashbacks, the BFX backstory is it. ^^

When she whinged about wanting Lanxi dead because she was kept from the emperor for 5 years by Lanxi's mother, I thought this was a little discordant since Lanxi's mum has been portrayed as someone tolerant who welcomed both concubine and child into the fold. So, given that the emperor didn't dispute her whinging, I wondered whether it may have actually been the emperor who kept the concubine away for 5 years, not the empress. After all, he needed to consolidate his power and ensure a clear line of succession. He's obviously someone who cares about appearances a great deal more than the reality.

I just don't want to see Lanxi capitulate to her manipulative fake PDA, a la when they met her on her return from the temple. It might piss his father off if he doesn't go along with it, but I think if Lanxi's strength of character would be made clear to the rest of the ministers if he defines a clear line between himself and the stepmum.

Don't get distracted from your job! Just focus on the task at hand and keep breathing. It'll be waiting for you when you home. ^^ 🥂

2. Meh. It'll so much sweeter later in the story when they become more dedicated to each other ^^. Otherwise they'd have already committed themselves to each other before even half of the story is told, and then where is the romantic tension?

I've read reports that Netflix is haemorrhaging subscribers.

Maybe Netflix was desperate to stop the exodus and so were willing to pay more/accept less advantaged terms in order to get more content asap. With more high visible content, the less likely subscribers will discontinue their subscription.

On the upside at least we aren't being treated to a foolish man falling for his mother's manipulation at the first glimpse of welcome after years of her emotional distance.

I'm refusing to believe it.

After suffering through the deceptive teasers of Pearl Eclipse, and being exposed to Who Rules the World doing a somewhat deceptive introduction of the nature of Chang and Yu's characters when they attempted to surprise Yanxi at the hot springs, I'm not taking that few seconds of teaser at face value.

Snack prep time.

Aaargh.

While I'm happy for Netflixers who now get to watch this while its airing, I'm also a little anxious because typically, if tencent has sold the air rights to another company it means the series will likely no longer be available to me via the wetv site.

I hope wetv at least finishes airing first.

I'm starting to think I should drop my wetv sub and just sub to either viki or netflix instead.

Aah. Have to stay away during the air time breaks. If I was to camp on this page I probably would go actually insane. ; )
