Calling on anyone who can read chinese characters to help me (and there is possibly others who'll likely be mildly interested) decipher the little emoticons in this series' release schedule.
since there's no romance, i think they market speciality for boys. If you're looking for Game & Romance & Friendship,…
I'm female, and I prefer this over Crossfire.
Each has it's good points, but since this is the only live action we have of the novel, for me it beats out pretty much anything else in the gaming category. Even if I think they didn't re-tell the novel's story particularly true.
I don't get why random Crossfire people see the need to come to the page for the King's Avatar to talk about how they prefer Crossfire. It seems weird to me.
It fits perfectly with her character though. She’s been consistently trying yo survive since the start and fight…
Thank you.
:)
Glad I'm not the only one who sees it.
The blinkered fandom is strong with this one.
...It's almost a paint-by-numbers feel to it. Like they're just going through the motions. Very much get the impression it's probably the team that puts the finishing touches on the series, packaging it all together. Direction, editing, somewhere along those lines.

I'm not arguing against the character being reasonable in her approach to her somewhat miserable life. All the points you and the other two have made I don't disagree with. What I'm saying is, even though her decision can be reasoned out (as you all have pointed out), anyone having made that particular decision would still *feel* a degree of unwillingness, discomfort, some moment of angst, whatever, before taking that step.
I don't feel that sense from this character. Whether it be the actor, or the direction they're given, I don't know what the cause is.
I'm simply saying I don't feel this character is 'real' to me, as their portrayal in this series seems to me, IMHO, somewhat ... perfunctory. Disconnected. I dunno if either of these words conveys the feeling entirely.
Even when, at the start of the series, the character was spouting their lines of feminism and self-realisation or whatever, it felt to me as if it was being said so as to be said, not with any particular heartfelt sincerity.
Which is why I say this series just feels a bit 'off' to me. It doesn't quite fit. I'm not feeling it.
Edit: On second thought, I think 'perfunctory' does pretty much describe it.
I remember seeing modern beauty products as PPL in the historical drama - General and I.That was seriously hilarious🤣…
For some reason ppl (people) in historical c-dramas seem to eat a lot, I mean a LOT of nuts, and use a lot a facial products. The things you learn about ancient China... ;)
The funniest ad combo I ever saw wasn't actually ppl (product placement) but an ad on Viki. Was watching a historical c-drama in which the girl woke up, morning after, and sat up in fright at the thought of the night before. At which point the ad cut in at the sight of her horrified face...
She is what we call a white lotus . Appears sweet and innocent but is actually vicious.
The actress playing Qiu Min seems familiar to me. I think I recall seeing her in other series and being annoyed by her sweet & innocent character (the actual character she plays, not the actress).
But I have to say, I'm actually enjoying the character she's playing in this one. So far she's seemingly been written as deliberately grey. As in could go either way. Either a black-hearted conniving bitch who plays people with her sweet & innocent demeanor, or simply a well-intentioned character who makes her own moral/ethical judgements which don't necessarily align with the audience/main character.
However much I usually despise the saccharinely innocent young girl character depictions in c-dramas, I'm actually hoping she keeps on going in this series. She has a bit of depth to her.
I'll even go so far as to say I think I'm enjoying her screen time more than the other women.
At least so far. Cross fingers. ====================== ...checked out her work history.
Legend of Jin Lan.
Gawd that thing was painful to watch at times. No wonder I remember hating her.
That comparison is insulting bc Minglan's schemes are too brainless and directionless. Qiao Xin also do not stutter…
-I've watched Pearl Eclipse, but never rated it.
-I've watched a lot of dramas, but have rated hardly any.
-If any drama I've watched apparently has a '0', it's because I haven't rated it, therefore it wouldn't be showing in the ratings system, afaik (if anyone has indepth knowledge of the ratings system and knows otherwise, feel free to correct me.)
-Afaik, the mdl rating system doesn't allow a rating of 0, I recall vaguely when I've attempted to set a particular aspect of its rating system at 0, it wouldn't allow it.
-I never said this drama is diapers. I was using a simile/comparison to demonstrate the difference in comparing this drama to Minglan.
-If you had taken a moment to think of the above as a possibility, that would have been able to provide an explanation to you as to why I like Minglan, yet my ratings page show a 0 for it. But you didn't do that, did you. You just spouted off some snarky mean thing back at me.
-You took the time and effort to go to my personal details and inspect my viewing habits/ratings just to be able to write something spiteful in reply. What does this say about you?
-You are so invested in following these actresses that you know that (supposedly, I don't know your sources so I don't know if your comments are accurate) Qiao Xin doesn't use doubles, and that Zhao Li Ying (I assume thats who you're referring to given Minglan was the only other drama mentioned in that particular comment) stutters and forgets her lines.
That this minutiae of these actresses is something you think worthy to dwell on ... what does this say about you?
-And since it's mentioned, what is the point of commenting on the use of doubles anyway? Unless a production is having to get by on an extremely tight budget, it's understandable why stand-ins are utilised. If they aren't, the quality of work given by the lead actors would be impacted. Are you seriously suggesting an actor is better or worse depending on whether they use doubles!?
-Who are you to police who gets to come here and make comments? I've already stated I'm watching this series. That it is a watchable series. Therefore I obviously don't think of it as complete shit ... or 'diaper'. Who are you to tell me I can't come to this site and participate with other viewers? --------------- Vee, I say the following with absolute sincerity to you as a fellow human being.
Your mental state when it comes to either this series, or this lead actress (I'm not sure which - or maybe its more a general mental state thing and not focused merely on this series) ... is very unbalanced. This is not healthy for you.
Try to be more reasonable in your approach to these things. You'll be happier for it.

...and if it's a little spoilery, please be kind and remember the spoiler checkbox (for others, not me, I wanna know EVERYTHING!!)
There's just too many of those thingys. Flags.
Better give it a try...
...and there are men who can actually sit and watch something romantic and still find it enjoyable.
The weirdness of life.. ;P

The lead character basically makes a decision to be a prostitute ... and her emotional response is basically like ... 'aaah, is it Tuesday again'.

I'll go back and enter a rating on any of them, any bloody time I want.
So ... you know what you can do with that suggestion.
