I just hope all that re-arranging will leave us with a polished gem, and not a muddled mess.

From what little I know (and I know very very little) Red Mansions is supposed to be a classic of chinese literature.

In Joy of Life Fan Xian doesn't actually create anything. His character is supposed to be a person from our time who has a crippled body and is expected to die young. In some way or another his conciousness is preserved through long centuries of a coming ice age, and is placed in the brain of a baby in a young civilization which rises from the devastion of that ice age. Because it's a young civilization and the traces of previous civilization has been wiped away by that ice age, they have little in the way of a history of great arts or other developments from our current civilization. Fan Xian's mother is also a remnant from our prior civilization. This is why Fan Xian's mother got rich by creating things like sugar and why she inscribed the plaque in front of the council with those ideals. Fan Xian is simply remembering the literature he had read in his previous crippled life and writing it down again. This also explains the night he became known as a god of poetry.

So, basically, Fan Xian is a plagiarist.

I've watched Ever Night s1 probably a minimum of 10x over so I'm right there with you on the love for Ever Night and Arthur Chen, but it has to be acknowledged there were some flaws. He played the part of cynical teenager sneering at the expected role people expect him to fall into, and bucking against the trend very well. But the acting of the romance between his Ning Que and Sang Sang was ... shall we say 'awkwardly stilted' for the most part. On the upside the fight scenes were done amazingly well, so hopefully that bears additional fruit with his role in Immortality.

I was underwhelmed with his performance in Legend of Awakening, but to be fair I don't know if that was him, or the people directing him, because that series overall became so boring to me I couldn't force myself to finish the final 10 episodes. In an aesthetic sense I thought that his face seemed to have matured between Ever Night and LoA, and I found his matured face more bland. But hey, I'm not about to rule anyone out because they aren't pretty enough. There's a reason why the makeup specialist exist.

Leo Luo seems to fit the role of Chu Wanning perfectly. I'm a fan of all his, he seems to carry the dramas he's in along very well. Hopefully he'll help Arthur through it and we'll get a great tv version of the fantasy/wuxia aspects of the novel. {cross fingers}

So, a pinyin chart and google translate tell me that:
huan means change;
heng means horizontal, transverse, traverse, across
lou means floor, or storied building
lu means road, way, or path

So, if the villian's accent is the problem (I'm assuming the above words are close enough phonetically to be possibilities), maybe what she's referring to is a picture of a 4 floor change, or 4 road change, or 4 road traverse...?
So some kind of map....?

You only have yourself to blame SuibianX. If you don't put in a winky emoji, or an '/sarcasm' note, how are readers supposed to know you were being sarcastic?

I've been wondering whether it might be that map that she spilt coffee on and had to re-draw from memory. So ... she's already seen it....

It reminded me of 'Oh My General', which was also very silly in a fun way at the beginning, but also very well done dramatically, so I enjoyed it very much.

So far this has been staying at that level of quality for me, so I've been pleasantly surprised.

I'm not going to remember 'Oh My Emporer', even if it did have Xiao Zhan in it. The ML in that was a slap in the face with a wet fish.

There must some common Chinese phrase which translates as 'oh my..' for it to have been used in english translations of titles so much.

If they could imprint the phrase 'Bad Wolf' to warn the Doctor of what was coming, you'd think they could warn him not to wear the bow tie, or the fez.

Personally I'm really anxious to see the other 2 naked hotties, because the subtitles seem to suggest she was going to try to get 4 total drawings of teh nekkid hot guys, but she's only got 2 so far.

I mean, that young-ish guy who turns up in episode 8 seemed like he might be #3, but then near the end of the episode our ML seemed fairly deferential to potential #3, so maybe potential #3 is not part of the Li family? (No english sub for the ep, so I was trying to do my own interpreting based on having no Chinese whatsoever).

Also, talk about a cliffhanger ending in episode 8!

Probably had nothing else to go with due to pandemic and this is a fall-back filler.

I was going along with the cheesy fun of it, but I'm up to ep 10 now and I don't think I can go on.

Seriously ... the hero gets back stabbed by a polearm, after he's declared the victor of the fight, yet they spend the next 8 or 9 minutes of the hero being blamed for causing harm to the back-stabber before he's finally cleared.

Who the hell wrote this plot/script for this thing?

I wish there was a list here on MDL where I could blacklist all productions based on who wrote the script for them, because this thing is a turkey.

IMO I felt Miss Truth was let down by the FL's bland facial expressions. Most of the time I was waiting for her to emote something. Anything.
