This show is giving me emotional whiplash… nevermind the plot, but the after the first few eps, the tone is changing every two minutes or something. One minute they’re angsty, then comedic music starts playing and it turns into a light funny scene. I don’t mind tropes / misunderstandings / angst, but I wish they could let the leads’ emotions sit a little longer.
And then a little bit after the midway of the show, they literally add a whole different personality to the FL. Everything just feels so surface level — a lot of different sceneries, plot lines, “arcs” — but nothing is quite hitting emotionally since it just feels like a hodgepodge of high production elements vs. a cohesive romance storyline
Maybe I’d be less annoyed if the trailers marketed the show accurately.
It’s such a pity because you can see how well the leads CAN perform romcom scenes in the first few episodes.
I wanna see the leads act together in a thriller / action with a small romance subplot LOL
I’ve seen both in thriller / action roles and they’re fantastic. In the scene where the leads are “in the TV” with DRM’s imaginative gun was a feast for the eyes
Yeah I wasn’t too happy about it either, but his willingness to continue sacrificing for her (going to her fake…
In the novel, he didn’t contact her bc her dad didn’t approve of them and didn’t want him contacting her. Jin Zhao consistently tried to persuade visiting in person and giving them money (to show that he’s now living a very stable life and can support Mumu). Kinda sad they took out this detail
it made me mad that she wasn’t angry enough and was yet again the one chasing him after the 6 years
Yeah I wasn’t too happy about it either, but his willingness to continue sacrificing for her (going to her fake wedding, preparing her wedding presents so she doesn’t look bad to the groom, hiking with her despite how physically painful it was) and finally overcoming his insecurities and asking her mom for permission to marry her made me ok with it.
I can't believe a user just called Esther Yu retarted? Wow it has really gotten to this....
I actually saw someone say they found Jiang Mu annoying, and I was proud that no one argued with them cuz it’s totally normal to find a character annoying
But to attribute all the flaws to the ACTOR’S name, when there’s an entire team (screenwriter, director, makeup & costume, idk there’s prob more) dictating the process, that’s just hate
I don’t get why it’s so “acceptable” to hate on Esther’s voice when almost every actress has their own…
It personally makes me sad when (likely) female viewers say they’re only watch [xyz] show for the guy. Like cmon shouldnt girls support girls at this day and age 😭
I get that support shouldn’t be blind, but it just saddens me that the highest paid cdrama and kdrama (prob kpop too) are mostly male, cuz they have a larger and more loyal / willing to spend female fanbase. And their careers tend to be longer too (vs. females that age out more easily). And I feel like when a drama explodes, the ML tends to get more recognition — the most obvious example is Lovely Runner. This is besides the original point but I just wanted to rant 🥲
Make it make sense! I find people claimed they don’t like Esther’s voice but so familiar with all her works…
I don’t get why it’s so “acceptable” to hate on Esther’s voice when almost every actress has their own quirks / flaws yet get no hate.
Not liking someone’s voice is fine but there’s no need to constantly write hateful comments about it. Some actresses are really weak at delivering their lines, have voices that don’t match their characters at all, sound the same across every darn character no matter how different the characters are, have terrible body posture and control, or act with no emotions behind their eyes. Yet I barely see any comments on those
Solid like it’s back on track but missing the magic of the first few eps, if that makes sense.
Eps 1-4: love
Eps 5-6: like
Eps 7-mid of 9: what the fffff?????
Mid of 9- mid of 10 (where I’m at): solid
It’s the approximate eps, since I’ve been binging and don’t exactly remember
I’ll update you after I finish tonight 😅
My face after I woke up and read the comments: 🥲
My face after I thought the comments were exaggerating and continued to watch the second half: 🥲🥲🥲

I feel like the subtitling is awful though, but luckily the leads’ acting very good so I can guess what the dialogue is supposed to be saying
