Iām so glad we both hate that hat š tbh I hate Ming dynasty outfits the most but I ESPECIALLY hate his styling. It was so much better in blossoms of power

Yeah Iām typically fine with slow burns and whatnot (in fact I prefer it). I think whatās throwing me off is the comedic element (it was funny to me at first but now a bit repetitive) ā if ppl are trying to kill them left and right, I would prefer a darker tone + more ātensionā / distrust between the leads. But to each their own! The show is clearly doing well, and others in the comments love it, so Iām clearly the minority

Iām also not sensing a lot of chemistry between them so far. It feels more like friendship / good coworker relationship as they try to survive court politics.
The pacing also feels slower after ep 6. I prefer relationships with more tension and angst, so maybe the show isnāt for me. I see why other people like it, but yeah, itās starting to feel draggy to me š„²

yeah i have no idea how it's gonna go tbh, due to censorship. it's always a wildcard. i feel like they've typically toned down a lot of the original IP in shows, but you're right that it takes away from the story.
