I wish Joe actually goes to the afterlife and rests with his parents, Ming has grown on me but I still want him…
I just want Joe to be happy. If he's staying I want him to stay out of the feeling of being loved and taken care of in future rather than any obligation to Ming's crazy love or his mother or whatever. I want him to choose himself whatever choice he ends up deciding finally, it must be for himself not for anyone else. Please.
I won't defend that as you are right in your own sense and I can't deny that Joe does share the blame, I just don't put that big of a percentage of share on him as you do.
Like I can say the fate was trying too hard to push him towards the same path. Did Wut have to be there in the goddamn hospital and on such good terms with his new mom to immediately become his source of income? If his mother wasn't slapped with that big ass mark on her face would he have gone back to the stunt job rather than stick to the backstage work like he initially intended? If he still didn't look like Tong would he have been approached to be his standin again? If his mother wasn't sick would he have taken up Tong's standin job again which he initially resisted? If Ming hasn't hounded him would he have deliberately gotten closer to him otherwise? And yes by this time he started actively deceiving himself that he has to take his help but the circumstances were all wonderfully lined up to get to this point in the first place etc etc etc Like I can even start with did he have to be reborn in this country again in the first place lol
Had Ming had let him be after his body was found do I think for sure he'd have walked away then but Ming literally got him pimped out to him and chased him on the road how can I blame Joe for that lol
But this debate isn't going to go anywhere lol so I guess I bow out π
Again I come here defending my baby. He absolutely tried to resist and every step of the way I feel so I can't blame him fully but yes he's at fault too.
And Joe is more of a Standby for Ming than anything lol That joke he sent to him in the earlier episodes "I'm a standin but if you wanna get some I'm on standby" aww he was such a happy perky sweetie my god why did the world (& yourself too) ruined you π
Hello again! Now that you mention episode 7. I did have an issue with it too. Only because its staff are the same…
Hi! I'd love over 20 episodes of this series only if the director knows fully where they want to go with this. As it stands I feel that there have already been some fillerish scenes from 8 ep onwards, even the mommy bday here was mostly unnecessary?
KinnPorsche I've yet to see the main couple story, I've only seen Vegas/Pete parts but I think I know which scene you are referring to and going by just the 2nd couple alone I'm sure they did justice to the main too. And yes if it was a willynilly production I wouldn't have expected much from MyStandIn either but given what it is it's normal to raise our expectations.
That is very true. I think Joe isn't exempting himself from responsibility either, it's just fans like me hurting too much for him who do it sometimes in the heat of a moment π€£
"Joe, how long are you gonna be the good guy?β I didnβt think I would ever agree with Ming so much lol. I…
If he wasn't such a good guy Ming himself would have no chance in hell to get him back so he should probably be the last person saying this.
And it's really sad but poetic or completes a full circle that Joe died again for the same two people who made him die the first time. I like when things come full circle like this, and it is line with everything repeating again.
Even the sequence of kidnapping is same and as a result his supposed death with only the difference that he died on spot this time.
And now the things that I love about this episode. I really loved how composed Ming was in the mafia lair and tried to calm down the scared out of his wits Joe when he tried to run towards him, raising his hands in an calm manner basically gesturing Joe to just hold on and he'll handle it. Like aaaaaa my fangirl heart finally got something. I love Ming protecting Joe, I love him taking care of Joe especially now that he was in panic mode because it rarely ever happens. It was a little gesture but I can't stop rewatching this moment.
Ming exceeded expectations in this episode in general and I am satisfied with his actions this time around.
Also I'm happy with the whole kidnapping plot and deviation from the novel here for multiple reasons. Ming got to prove himself to Joe this way and this was very much needed because the eggs and smooches on faces doesn't cut it for me and it shouldn't for anyone else either but you'll are weak π€ͺ (kidding don't come at me)
Joe also hadn't forgotten the hurt he went through by Ming's hand and I am so glad because it was ridiculous how he was giving a chance to him so easily. ππππ <--- my reaction when I heard Ming say we are finally together. But now I'm fine with both Ming and Joe because one proved his love and the other proved that he doesn't suffer from short term memory loss π
Like I was especially disturbed about what Ming did in episode 7, as far as I'm concerned he was an animal that episode attacking Joe and while he was remorseful next morning, there wasn't a single mention of the rape attempt and the general disrespect he was treated with during their contract duration later. So Joe remembering it at a critical moment vindicated me.
It wasn't a bad episode at all. It just lacked some coherence and good directing.
I'm also happy with what the preview of next episode is showing, finally Ming's pov which should wrap up everything nicely. One major fear I have is that Joe can be crippled permanently just to amp up angst and make Ming repent for life. No pls.
I honest to goodness kept wondering during that scene that just why did they have him roll down the stairs at all and the answer I came up with was that they needed to remove Ming from the sight of fire via him following Joe down. Still dumb and could've been done better.
Technically an orphan is a child with NO parents. Tong's child would've still had the mother; so that argument…
He's a simple guy and probably being dead doesn't change nature or brain power but I have no experience to say for sure π€£
Tbh if Joe was anymore a deep thinker than he is he would not have taken being dead and revived as well as he did. He came back and then went about his business again trying to do his best per whatever capacity he had. Unfortunately for him the people he's embroiled in or got himself embroiled in again because his heart somewhat rules his head are just too much for him to handle. He really did try to distance himself I can't say he didn't but at the end it was about 50/50 his own doing and then others and fate.
If there's any consolation he seemed pretty sick of himself too and hence chose death to get out of this loop.
Technically an orphan is a child with NO parents. Tong's child would've still had the mother; so that argument…
In my language Urdu orphan "yateem" is someone with no father and "maskeen" is someone with no mother. If both are dead it's yateem and maskeen or simply orphan again because there's no alternative in English that I know of.
Technically an orphan is a child with NO parents. Tong's child would've still had the mother; so that argument…
It's not because that was what was intended. And where I am from orphan is someone who have no father and it's probably same in Thailand or Tong wouldn't have said this word. And do you think Joe thought as far as the baby having a lavish mother's side to have a good life? He just thought orphan and then the goons came and joe did what he has to as per his nature, he is not Ming.
She doesn't care about Joe enough and her child was about to do something hella dumb so I get her. And she didn't have money as they explained in last episode but by god she would have pulled it through dad's dead cold hands if Ming's life was threatened and Mingy knew that.
Girls the only and only reason he agreed to help Tong was "don't want the baby to be orphan". He is an orphan and this hit a nerve. This was literally just it, I wish they highlighted it more because so many people are missing it. You can see Joe's face change and he looked right at Tong when he mentioned the word orphan, he right there started listening to Tong whereas he was looking here and there before.
So that was it. But most everyone is missing it and it makes me sad because it makes so much sense that I basically had seen it coming.
Add to that Joe isn't the kind of person who would just hand over anyone to two goons willing to kill. He had a split second to make a decision and he did as per his nature. I doubt he'd have felt very bad had Tong died elsewhere in his own created messy business but Joe was involved right there and then orphan and he did what he did which isn't out of character at all.
If I didn't see most of this coming I'd be very shocked by this episode. The basic outline I liked for this EP but there was room for improvement. I want to edit this episode myself to make it more impactful lol
A few things that could've been improved here:
1) Emphasis on Joe's orphan status and how he lost them so early would have helped and made the audience easily understand why he made the decision to help Tong.
2) Tong did not need to be so good at the end. And if he was to be then a few revelations for him could have made the transition much smoother. Foremost being him realizing at the spur of a moment while Joe's helping him that this guy is the old Joe. Some depth to their (hateful?) relationship wouldn't have hurt as Joe was with Tong long before Ming came into the picture and somehow bound to him even in his 2nd life. Basically they were work colleagues for a long time coupled with Joe1 dying as a courtesy of Tong tripled with Joe's freaky comeback from the dead would have made for a convincing reason for his heel face turn.
3) It didn't need to be so filmy or cheesy. Ming and Joe holding hands in front of his father, sad romantic music playing with Ming's declaration of love in front of a mafia boss. It wasn't very MyStandIn.
4) If they had to include Mom's finding out about their deal (paramour is not a word I'd ever heard before this series but I applaud the otherwise horrible translator to find a respectful name for their honorable contract). So if the mom had to find out she could've spit out a few more hurtful words like you can not be my son he wouldn't ever do something like this and did I raise you to be like this yada yada. This would've really highlighted Joe's feeling of being a StandIn here too and be wonderfully used in the ending scene where he is being sad about his pathetic life.
5) I want a dream sequence of Joe grappling with Joe.2 asking him to give his body back to him or something because that would have further highlighted why Joe feels he shouldn't belong here any longer, and how much stress and alienation he is under even excluding Ming's business, again making his decision at the end of episode more understanding.
6) There's no way I'm believing that he's actually dead so what I wish is for one more guy to make his solid entry next episode and that is Joe. 2 soul grabbing his hand before he's through the door and helping him decide his final move. This sorts out the messy business of Joe1 inhabiting his body.
7) Sol just gave up like this offscreen after challenging Ming head on last ep. A miniature scene of him seeing Joe happy with Ming or similar and realizing he got no chance after all would've made his transition smoother.
So that's all for improvements, I really should be hired by StandIn's production team lol
And I have to say Joe got shot and Ming just let him fall down the stairs. He was shocked or whatever but that seemed both funny and insulting to his saviour.
Just rewatched last weekβs ep and it occurred to me, why donβt bl dramas have sponsorships from condom and…
He's been having Joe exactly the way he wants since the start, it was Joe who had compromised initially. There's no way he isn't totally into it, we just aren't shown because it's Joe's pov.
