Any updates on this? I was thinking it would be available around Christmas but we’re now in a new year. Waiting on Japanese bls is a new form of unhealthy relationship I never thought I’d find myself in. 😅
I know it's the story, but I can't honestly believe that someone as nice and as beautiful as Ji-Won would be unpopular…
They explained this. Su-Min came to stay with her at least three days per week. You don’t have to think too hard to realise that Su-Min was doing exactly what she did back in high school, which was to talk badly about her to others and disguise it as looking out for her, put her down with backhanded/off-handed comments and isolating her by forcing her to spend most/all of her time with her only. Ji-Won already had her self esteem and self confidence obliterated from her high school days. Su-Min had already set the groundwork.
I get why some people think Ji Hyuk seems stalkerish but I am not bothered by his almost obsessed behavior. After…
Also he knows that these two people killed her so he’s following to make sure she is safe and to assist in some of the events he knows she’ll need help with using his knowledge from the future.
@lo_ve do we really need to add more fuel to the fire? Have we not learned from what happened to Lee Sun Kyun…
Before clicking on this article I was saying to myself, I bet it’s written by lo_ve and only clicked on it to confirm this. Is there a way to block just the articles written by lo_ve???
This is what I didn't understand, unless they would be afraid that some people are going to throw tantrum if there's…
What I’m questioning is the validity of the outrage of Tharn being used for the past counterpart. It’s weird that viewers are able to suspend belief for some things but not others. They seem to accept Phaya/Billy playing the past counterpart even though he was reincarnated into a different person (present day Phaya) but they don’t for Tharn. Surely if the reason behind the outrage was really about Tharn playing Wansa instead of Feern then they would also be questioning why Phaya is also playing the Garuda instead of another actor. So using that logic, they should be calling for BOTH Master Garuda as well as Wansa to be played by the side actors but this is not the case, which leads me to believe what they’re criticising is not what’s really bothering them.
I can’t get into the mind of others but the maths is just not adding up. Perhaps they feel uneasy about how Tharn playing Wansa challenges the traditional gender norms because dressed as Wansa he is visibly feminised. Maybe some viewers are not as comfortable with visibly LGBTQ+ and gender fluid characters despite being fans of BLs. Again I’m not calling anyone out or trying to put words in their mouths but it’s always good to look inwards and check one’s bias.
For me personally, I have no issues with how Tharn visibly looks both male and female as Wansa. This doesn’t take me out of the drama and this may be because as a longtime lover of mythical/legend based movies and dramas, I’m used to these beings being represented in androgynous forms. For example, I’m used to characters who have a full beard, long hair as well as full breasts meaning they present as both male and female. For me, there is something about supernatural or non-human beings that feel like that’s what they would be anyway. Another example is them taking half human/half animal or beast form.
This is what I didn't understand, unless they would be afraid that some people are going to throw tantrum if there's…
I think you’re missing the point I’m saying. I’m asking why is the issue only with Tharn’s counterpart since they’re not saying that’s what Tharn looked like in his past life. They’re just using the current characters to act out the scenes from the past life since they are the faces we are used to. So why the issue with Tharn and not Phaya? Surely Phaya has a past counterpart too who looks different since he died too. If they were to use the faces of the past counterparts neither Billy nor Babe would be in those scenes.
This is what I didn't understand, unless they would be afraid that some people are going to throw tantrum if there's…
Just a quick question. If Freen is Tharn in the past life, doesn’t that stand to reason that someone else would be Phaya in the past life? I don’t understand how ppl are questioning Tharn being used for past life scenes but not Phaya. It’s my guess that using the current incarnations to act out the past lives is the best way to establish who is who. They even used the same actor who plays the Dr. It’s a tool used in media for decades and decades and is used this way more often than not.
I sincerely hope this is the catalyst for greater change. We had a similar (but less tragic) watershed moment here in the UK, where in the wake of the MeToo movement the media and the police jumped the gun and released the name of Cliff Richards before bringing any charges. They almost destroyed him over something that turned out to be groundless in the end.
It sparked change in not only how the media reports on influential/celebrity figures who have yet to be charged but also on how the police releases information to the media before an official investigation. Of course other cases also impacted this as well, such as the Sarah Everard case (she was m*rdered by a serving police officer).
The media are always gonna media though because they broke the ‘anonymity precedent’ just last year by revealing the name of a BBC newscaster who was alleged to have had an inappropriate relationship with a colleague he was suspected of grooming from a young age. But at least the police have had to change and I can’t help but think how less tragic the outcome for Lee Sun Kyun would have been if the police in SK had to operate within similar restrictions.
It’s both happy and sad. If you are someone who doesn’t like sad endings like me, I’d still recommend you…
Yes, that’s exactly what it is. It feels fair and makes you have the good kind of cry. I try to be as accurate as I can to manage expectations for sad or bittersweet endings because I know myself that walking into a truly sad ending can be devastating. The fact that the story doesn’t feel like it’s over yet also gives you a hopeful feeling at the end too. It takes you through it in the last episode but ultimately it ends on a positive note.
can someone spoil me the ending? is it happy ending?
It’s both happy and sad. If you are someone who doesn’t like sad endings like me, I’d still recommend you watch it as the main character(s) get a good ending. Usually I don’t like sad endings because they are often unfair and feel like a betrayal to the story but I’d say this one has a happy ending even though there are some sad bits. Also, the ending feels like there is more to come so I hope there is a season 2.
he looks like a mix of so many other actors. It’s why he looks so familiar.
It’s the Mandela effect. Whenever we all have collective deja vu it’s because we’ve been Men In Black’d or we’re living the same timeline again.
He looks familiar to me too like I’ve seen his exact face before. The other actors you guys suggested share similarities but I feel like I’ve seen Babe’s EXACT FACE BEFORE.
Who knows Death’s Game will be in the top 2024, cos I treat it as started in 2023 and ended in 2024, lol.
I hope part 2 is at least. I added it here because they’ve split part one and part 2 into two different MDL listings (as in you can rate each part separately).
What country did you watch the most in 2023? South Korea
What genre(s) do you usually watch? Romance (k-dramas have got me in a chokehold 😅)
What is your top drama listed in this article? Moving
What is your top drama NOT listed in this article? Death’s Game (especially part 1 which were the first 4 episodes released in 2023), Castaway Diva, The Glory Pt 2 and Divorce Attorney Shin
How was your drama journey in 2023? A mixed bag. The good ones were really good (found some real gems) but unfortunately the majority were sloppily executed.
What is your wish or plan in dramaland in 2024? As others have said, I wish for better consistently good dramas. I’d also like to see some newer themes and mixing of genres. We’ve started to see this a bit in the last two years and I really hope it catches on.
