I didn’t know MDL did yearly roundups. This is such a cool idea and I’ve also found some interesting looking shows for my to watch list. 🤗

The late 2010s was the semi decade for Korean cinema. These thought provoking and highly emotive movies came out of nowhere and dominated with its impact. Although I am not Asian I love to see when cultural phenomenons challenge the concept that non-white stories are not relatable. After all, we are all humans and we all have stories with similar themes.

Same. I avoided it for years because I was like, “not another zombie movie” but it’s so much more than that. Like you said, it’s the kind of film that you don’t mind it ripping your heart out. You don’t regret watching it for a second even though you are left bawling on the floor. 😅

I watched this in full years after it came out (2022). It has such a gut wrenching impact. It’s the sort of bitter-sweet ending that stays with you.

Say what you want about this series but mama Nam going off on the dad will never not be iconic. How are you gonna tell a man he has a limp d*ck. bahahaha 🤣😂😅😭😭😭 Is that a record for the most series of cuss words in a bl? I think it might be tehehe 🤭

BiliBili is the site I’m suggesting. I’m just letting you know I had to fish around for the good subs because they weren’t all in one place on the site. They were from multiple different posters.

I scraped through BiliBili to find each episode with good subs. In the end I had to wade through a lot of videos by a lot of different people to find the good ones. I still don’t understand why the subs are so bad and this is a production with a lot of big names.

I had to go digging through BiliBili and found good subs for each individual episode from different posters. I can’t provide all the links off the top of my head without slogging through my browsing history but I did save the link for episode 1.

When I first watched this in 2021, there was a buzz about a Season 2 or a continuation of some sort but after two and a half years I’m still holding out hope. Although it’s less and less likely. 🥲

Oh, my bad. The site I watch stuff on posted the episode link in preparation for it being released today but the episode itself was not available yet. As others have said it will be available today (Jan 5th).

I saw that ep 5 is available now but I don’t know when exactly they were released, if it was today or yesterday.

Same. Both guys are decent humans and both deserve good endings. I’m usually satisfied with the main lead ending up with whomever he or she likes.

I keep going back and forth about what her true motivation is. Is she obsessed with Ye-Ji because she is jealous of her and wants to ruin her or is she obsessed with Soo-bin because she wants him but he doesn’t want her so she’s trying to force him? Or is this her dark twisted way of making friends by manipulating them, controlling them through money and forcing them through blackmail? What does she want?? Is it chaos? 😅

In terms of the timeline, we know that Soo-bin and the others were friendly(ish) towards her at the start of the school year but they didn’t know her like that or even talked to her much. She was always just hanging around. Then we saw her first approach Soo-bin after that phone call where it’s revealed he’s having money troubles. He turns her down but ends up working at the same place as her. The place is a front for something shady and Soo-bin is forced to be a part of it to earn money it seems. Da-Eun takes a compromising picture of Soo-bin and uses it to blackmail him into hanging out with her and forcing him to act like they are together.

Three observations:
Da-Eun has been messing with Ye-Ji since day 1 which is why I’m starting to believe the root of her obsession is Ye-Ji and not Soo-bin. That she’s only going after Soo-bin to ‘have something Ye-Ji can’t have’.

I wonder if Da-Eun was the reason Sae-Na was bullied before Sae-Na became friends with Ye-Ji. I bet Da-Eun started some rumours about her.

It seems like anyone is collateral damage for Da-Eun in her pursuit. Even her father it seems, because why would you blackmail someone with something that would be a problem for your father also. This is why I say she is psycho PSYCHO. There is nothing off limits. Nothing she won’t do to get what she wants.

Oooookay……so Da-Eun IS psycho PSYCHO. Then all bets are off.

The third episode was so heartwarming. 🥹☺️

I thought they were adapted from the same web novel since the stories are essentially the same. It’s crazy how two separate webtoon artists came up with near identical storylines and it’s not a typical storyline that you find in dramas anyway.

Put aside the fact that her best friend is a witch for a moment, but why is she wasting her time on that small little man who has nothing to offer? It would make more sense to go after a big fish. At least in the other adaptations it made sense because the husband was useful to the friend character. He worked and had a high up position but in this version the husband is lazy and useless.
