Title Dream of Golden Years Spoiler
According to recent articles summarising and introducing the drama, the heroine is a 36-year-old modern executive:…
thanks yeah i just wasn't sure about the numbers in this thread.didn't seem to match up with her visit to the courtyard, but it's fine.

i'm all caught and yes as far as drama is concerned it's clear that she is questioning her environment whenever she encounters differences & similarities and wonders if it's her doing. but it looks like granny yu cleared everything up.

im only about 100 chapters into the novel but im starting to like it more than the drama. there were a few situations in the drama where i went like nooo waaaay (obviously excluding the transmigration bit) pity there's no way my poor eyes can take 2k chapters reading from screen. it is very good.

they seem to be pushing this vibe, but does it really make sense?
maybe in this reality there is no need for young mistress killing him? in any case i'd like to see this girl do well without taking detours to the dark side in general. but i suspect they'll have to dip her in mud somehow.

quick question. assuming Xia Xiaolan was born in 1990 on original timeline and it's only 1983 when she went looking for traces of her parents. why was she confident that she wont exist on this timeline in the 90s? like her parents could've started their jobs in the brewery and moved there in 1985. does the novel address it somehow?

nvm: in the novel she is born in 1977, so she should be 49 in 2026. "current" XXL was born in 1965.

Not Xiao Lan realizing that the person she transmigrated into is the mistress who killed the tycoon.😅

seems like the only option here is that the original girl died when she hit her head against the tree.

Agree, but it will find its audience, I'm sure, despite the stiff competition of the Reform era themed dramas…
and a few minis like
The Miracles
Threading Mom's Wings
Back to 1995
Once More Love in 1995

anyway special people are everywhere :D but it's not why censorship in china doesn't approve of those endings. i dropped in here from another drama where someone raised a similar question in this thread https://kisskh.at/776939-again-my-life#comment-25451200

I mean if in the end it remains a dream and not actual time travel and she just eventually wakes up none of it…
summit of our youth falls foul of rule 2: don't use it as a plot device. i haven't seen love conspiracy but by description it sounds like it was the case as well. i can only say that those directives they kind of grew organically over 10 years or so, and it's not a question of being harmless or not. just to avoid the risk those decisions would be made by a studio to avoid asituation where they film everything and then not get a license. i dont know about the official guidelines for books but honestly a coma/dream is a quick & easy get out clause to wrap everything up.

no it was not the case of a bunch of lemmings trying to time travel. that's why the methods of "time travel" are not banned. the issue was raised that stories featuring time travel & transmigration distort history.
2 shows that got the ball rolling were "palace" and "scarlet heart" in 2011 (like they were called out by name) and it kinda got formalized in 2017. short dramas became covered by the policy not so long ago (less than 3 years ago)

this is just from my shortened notes. i didn't find a definitive document on it:

"four don'ts".
(sensible overall, not just to time travel)

1) don't distort history.
explaining some historical event being caused by some fictional obscure character and not how it's in history books.
pretty sensible.

2) don't use time travel as a plot device.
concern is it trivializes history and makes it easy to distort it.
someone travels to a real dynasty and has wild adventures with a real emperor.
(note:yeah methods to time travel or transmigrate are not very safe in this situation.)

3) don't tell stories with a "pessimistic view of history".
well it's really about not being one sided. stories should inspire confidence and pride in chinese history and culture, not cynicism or despair.

4) don't fabricate historical side stories.
point focuses more on the method than result.
lack of seriousness and respect for historical authenticity.
like, costumes, materials, everyone is an engineer and has lots of ink & paper to write.

workarounds:
1) amnesia/coma/dream.
2) parallel universes & historical fiction
4) books and video games: destination is a fictional world.
3) body swap & reincarnation (born within the same timeline like with extra consciousness).
modern consciousness can exist in a historical setting without the mechanics of "time travel" being the focus.

yeah, there were a few minis recently with same premise. and one of the verticals looks really close to the plot.…
there a host is actually FL's mother and the person who she thought was her mother is actually another aunt. so the host dies and gets adopted by that aunt.

it's definitely an improved version but i cant expect a happy end.
