Regardless of that. In the story they could have, regardless if it is shown or not... it's a "secret relationsship", so it may be FWB type stuff.

Nah, the manga is much weaker and more 08/15... adding the diary to the whole story improved it and removing the 08/15 school bullying did concentrate the story of just the two MLs. Especially because JBLs are mostly 10 episodes or less, so it was important to cut off some things to have a compact story. Of course we would not mind if they had also 12 episodes but....
