Well, I am one of those who are dropping this drama. First of all, the FL character is too boring, the ML is too tsundere, and it reminds me a lot on some typical arranged marriage webtoons.. but I was willing to give it a chance.
And now, Paltima and Izmael? What a joke.. if the writers really want to tell stories about fictional countries, then get some unidentifiable names, NOT THESE. To me, it shows that they are either stupid (which I doubt) or intentionally want to promote the pro-Zionism in such a lame way. Hey show creators-nim, what do you hope to achieve?
So disheartened by the comments who are laughing on this matter. I get that South Korea is aligned with the right-wing politics, but still, using this sensitive issue as a reference in a drama is so outrageous. As a drama-lover and as someone who cares about innocent lives, I don't think I can just "chill".

I'm just on episode 6, still a long way to go 🥹 It felt a bit cliche sometimes with some "purely evil" characters.. but I've mostly enjoyed it so far. It's quite good, considering it was released 16 years ago. Or maybe I am biased because of Lee Joon Gi hehehe
I just watched ep 1 after finishing "The Royal Gambler" yesterday, and omg so many actors overlap in both the…
I know, right! Haven't watched The Royal Gambler, but I am only watching Iljimae now.. Also delighted to see tiny Kim You Jung (she's so adorable as a kid!) along with tiny Yeo Jin Goo. Though, the first time I spotted them was in Moon Embracing the Sun, it's quite fun to see the even tinier versions of them 😄
Wow, are you perhaps referring to drama where magic perfume helps FL lose weight.
Is that a different drama? I was just curious because I am doing the MDL 2024 watch challenge (https://kisskh.at/discussions/forum-games/122189-mdl-s-2024-challenge). Someone put this title on "perfume" category. I watched this drama but just can't remember if there is any perfume being mentioned or shown in this drama. Btw, thanks for your reply :)
Will there be another season/sequel after this one?Can anyone tell me if the ending here is open or not, please?
There has not been any announcement about sequel, afaik. In my opinion, the ending is both conclusive and open. It concluded the main conflicts for sure, but there is a potential for more season if they decided to make it.
OMIGOSH THIS IS IIIIIITTTTT🎉🎉🎉Hello Moonies! This is your cue for our anniversary rewatch😁Drop your…
Hello, a bit late to the party here. Rewatching this after a while, and when Devil God first appear on episode 1, weirdly the first thing that came to my mind was:.. wow, what a fine eyeliner work, on a pair of pretty eyes. 😆 I wish I could draw my eyeliner like that. And I can't help but feeling that the bored DG intentionally let Li Susu went back in time!
Adding these to my plan to watch! :) Sometimes I wonder if Drama Slump is real, or you’re just developing your preference, which means you’re getting better at filtering the stuff that you actually like. Sadly also means you need more effort to find the gems. These dramas that got you out of the slump are the stuff that worth your time, unlike the ones that you dropped.. imho.
I really enjoyed this article, thanks for wrapping it up nicely! I tried to stop myself from answering your questions because there'll be a lot of footnote/commentary from me, but oh well, here we go.
1. How many 2023-release dramas did you watch? Only 11. Probably because I am mostly catching up with older dramas during 2023. In retrospect, I think I even watched more drama this year compared to the past 4 years or so. I've been trying to limit myself since I was doing postgrad. Heh.
2. What country did you watch the most in 2023? According to my Year In Review, it's South Korea. This might not be accurate though. You see, I've only recently re-joined MDL. I think I had a super old MDL account many years ago, perhaps even when MDL was still using .net instead of .com (is that even the same community? not sure), but I forgot my login details and don't think I could retrieve that. So I've just inputted all of the dramas recently, but doesn't mean I watched them all in 2023.
3. What genre(s) do you usually watch? My top genres are Romance, Comedy, Drama. My top tags are Friendship, Death, Happy Ending.
4. What is your top drama listed in this article? Till The End of The Moon ---> made me so obsessed with LYX, I'm not ashamed. One Piece ---> I've been reading the manga since I was in primary school.. was a bit skeptical with this adaptation but it was great! Love to Hate You ---> such a hidden gem IMO
5. What is your top drama NOT listed in this article? Celebrity ---> It was a perfect-paced story that kept me hooked from the beginning to the end. It's thriller & mystery, but not the kind that made you feel nauseous with gore.
6. How was your drama journey in 2023? Two major things occurred to me : 1) As mentioned in Q#1, I caught up with a lot of drama in 2023. Drowning in abundance, I noticed I tend to drop (DNF) more dramas as well. I rarely did that in the past, but now I refuse to waste my time or force myself to sit on something I can't enjoy, while there are still many other things waiting to be explored. 2) I've just re-discovered Chinese dramas. Yay. In my adult & teenage life, when it comes to Asian dramas I mostly only watched things from South Korea or Japan. Before 2023, all I know about cdrama are only Meteor Garden and classic stuff I watched as a kid, like Princess Pearl. 😅 I am trying to be more selective though, because the 40-episode format felt a bit too much sometimes.
7. What is your wish or plan in dramaland in 2024? There are some dramas I anticipated from my favourite actors, so I am really looking forward to that. I also saw many hoped for more JDrama.. I would wish for more quality than quantity, but both would be better of course. :)

A logical guess is someone probably paid them a lot to pull such a stunt: https://www.reddit.com/r/BDS/comments/1hv4mj9/hit_kdrama_when_the_phone_rings_just_crossed_the/

I wonder if the titles here qualify?
I love Sichuan chilli oil so much. Such a lucky discovery from my local Asian grocer!
Come to think of it, LBFAD was the one that made me rediscover cdrama in 2023.
