Brief summary of dramaland chronicles in my life:

I grew up watching Mandarin shows and Japanese anime.

In the 2000s I was obsessed with South Korean drama & Japanese Dorama.

My first Korean drama was Full House, I watched it while it was airing on TV and I fell in love with the quirky romance between the characters played by Song Hye Kyo & Rain. I love how even in the most serious scenes they could slip in a little comedy.. I guess that's why I mostly watched rom-coms during those times.

Can't remember my first Japanese Dorama. Probably Hana Yori Dango, because I watched the Taiwanese Meteor Garden and I heard it was based on a manga. I adored how the Japanese live-action adaptations tend to be comical and faithful to the original manga. I mean, look at Hana Kimi! 

In 2023 I re-discovered Chinese shows, particularly costume dramas. Still watching lots of K-Drama, just a bit more selective. I guess I am getting better at knowing my likes and dislikes after watching 200+ titles! Somehow, I don't watch Japanese drama/movie as much as I used to. Still love many of their old shows, though.

Overall, I think I have a casual long-term addictive relationship with Asian dramas. There were some phases in my life when I completely stopped watching them altogether, but somehow I always come back.
