Before watching, I try not to look at the ratings, so as not to have prejudices. Because if I'm watching dramas with 8.8 ratings and more, I expect some gem, if I'm watching drama with 7.6 and below I expect to find something bad in a drama. And sometimes its work opposite - drama with mid ratings turns out to be a gem, and drama with high ratings turns out to be a weak drama. Like one of my favourite drama for all the time has 7.4 ratings on MDL, so I don't trust to ratings too much.
What is this trend in K-drama casting lately that senior actress got rookie male lead as partner??
It's not a trend, it's a budget of dramas. If production company can afford two senior actor and actress, they will hire them. If budget not so big, they can afford one senior actress to promote drama and rookie or not a popular actor with a less fee.

And none of this depict adoption. This drama is about one family with adoptive daughter, not about whole adoption system. Her parents are psychopaths, they love their daughter and hate anyone who can harm her, but reading webtoon I didn't think that any foster parents are like them. And they weren't compared to her biological parents. And korean dramas has a looot of abusive biological parents, but it doesn't mean they depict parenting negatively.
I've only read the first chapters, so I can't give spoilers for the entire drama. Kim Yong-dae's character will be killed in the first episode, after that there will be flashbacks with him. The female lead, Park Ju Hyun's character, has a loving happy family. She will tell her mother that she killed her classmate, and after that her parents will begin to radically cover up the evidence. Detectives are investigating the death of a classmate. As the story progresses, the past of female lead, her parents and classmates will be revealed. Park Ju Hyun's character has a best friend (Ji Hyeon U) who helps and supports her, and a classmate who bullies and hates her (she seems to be a villain, but I kinda can understand her reasons to hate female lead). As the plot unfolds, female lead will begin to suspect more and more that her parents are dangerous people, and that this isn't the first time they have harmed others to protect her.
Title of this article is confusing. All interview she talked about acting, how she had struggles and was insecurity with it, and how she overcome it. And she talked about her face not in a bad way, but in a positive way, as an actress: "Because I don't have a pretty picture-perfect face, I can look extremely kind when I appear good, and extremely wicked when I appear evil. Sometimes I even look like a man, and other times I look stupid. The variety in my voice tone also seems to be an advantage as an actor." She praised her face, but title made it look like she insecure with her look. I think she knows that she's pretty, she just doesn't think about herself as a "perfect beauty". She more cares about her acting and how her face can help to her with it. Well, I can't know for sure that she thinks and feels, but this is my impression from this interview.

Not agree with you. It's possible, even if Shin Min A would be older and he'd younger, it doesn't mean they would be inconvincing together. For example look how many people shipped Ji Chang Wook's character with second female lead in the K2. She was noticeable older, but their pairing could be convincing. So if they would look good together or not depends on a plot and on their chemistry. Why it wouldn't be convincing for her colleagues? Couples with that age gap isn't unbelievable thing. Maybe we'll wait and see? There's no point to talk that couple isn't convincing, when drama wasn't even aired yet.

Kim Ji Won has been specifically clarifying the character and the genres she wants to play, so I think she chooses the scripts carefully to find what she likes. For some reason, I think that her casting news will appear after all her fanmeetings are over (but maybe not, it's just my thought).
Main leads have harmonic looks. Their faces are matching with each other, and just because of this I want to watch that drama 😄 And I like the pairing of a calculating workaholic and unbothered kind guy. Somehow reminds me of the movie Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reindols. And Second lead couple are filming in spin-off as main leads. It's the first time on my memory spin-off with second lead couple. Many reasons to be excited, so I'm looking forward to that drama!
