Generally speaking, just see it as a fiction, not connecting it to reality. Because if it is reality, it would rarely have a happy ending. Now that people are already invested in this story and this couple, then lots of them would still choose them to be together in the end, and they see that a happy ending. While in reality, if Yi Chen forgives Lu Feng, most people would ask him to see a psychiatrist. An important reason for people to love toxic stories is because they are mind stimulating and also people like seeing obsession, forever love, only you, and such states of being in relationship, and for a lot of people, watching these scenes can easily stir emotions. People live for strong emotions.

In the bl world, this is a really wonderful project. And for the actor, this is such a challenging and beneficial role that he is willing to go back and forth between China and Singapore.
