The novel touches on this in later plot, not sure if the drama will have it.

It's sad now this bad screenwriter destroyed the potentials for such unique story. The drama could have been 100 times better if it was produced by more talented and experienced people.

in the novel, ML actually had hurt more severely and critical than FL. When FL woke up from comma, ML was still recovering his physical conditions. Only after a few months, he has healed physically but he still has ptsd problems. even the cause of that is different from the drama. In novel, he's actually a soldier, but he made a mistake and threw a bomb into a house that he though was empty, but when he was running away, he saw a family of 6 people inside there and he could only watch them d word, that's why he was stunned and got severely damaged even though he could have avoided that explosion due to his prior training as soldier. He felt guilty because of that and also because of his kind nature, he couldn't accept that he unintentionally k word 6 people and he blamed himself so much for that.

The drama changed a lot about Li Zan's background and beliefs, plus bad directing that only focuses on FL makes viewers feel disconnected with Li Zan... if it wasn't for CZY's good acting, i feel people wouldn't realize how sad his situation was.

Also because of that incident and handicap, his bright future as an exemplary solider was destroyed as well, because his rank was about to be promoted after he came back from East country. Now his future is gone so it must have affected him too. In the drama, he's an engineer so they couldn't develop this side of his character.

I see. And I agree. But I already knew from the start that this show has weak directing and editing so i guess they couldn’t balance the rhythm between these heavy scenes and transitions. That’s totally on the production team. I also feel the scene where the ML broke down in the hospital was shot very weirdly. Thank god his acting still delivered.

They haven't moved on from the trauma/ptsd/depression, it actually just started.

His father is old, and his son has always been a quiet, introverted but excellent kid that doesn't need his worries. They didn't live together until he had to comeback home this time. LZ also lied to him about him being ok in order to not make him worry, he just stayed for1-2 days then he left because he feared his father might notice if he had stayed longer. I think the logic here is tonally fine.

Because JL didn't die in the novel.

Don't be discouraged because of SE. ML is really really good, his acting is also superb. Keep watching so you can appreciate him and his story more, even if it's SE...

he is not a soldier in the drama, just a volunteer bomb defusing engineer. and he's actually very strong, he just looks thin but his body is well-built and can lift FL by one hand.

what videos? that's what antis spread about him. he doesn't need it, he has broad shoulders and slim waist, you can see the half-naked footage today of him in ep 12

I think she called him that because that's the name she first heard others calling him before she knew his real name, so she's used to it. He is still calling her by Miss Song because he's a gentleman and they're not officially a couple yet. Later, when they get together, he will call her "Ran Ran"

There is Jiang Lin in the novel but he is a different person from the Jiang Lin in the drama. So i'm afraid Jiang Lin might really be the friend that sacrificed himself in the drama's synopsis... The original plot is more controversial (the cause of Li Zan's early PTSD) so i think they changed it to pass China censorship...

Director picked CZY as Li Zan because he has the quality of LZ in the novel. LZ isn't a typical military physically strong guy. I think you have a stereotype for soldiers i guess. But LZ in the novel is just a 23 years old shy introverted boy with a beautiful pair of eyes. Author described him looking like a college student without the uniform. So CZY is perfect for the role. Even in the drama, his job is a bomb engineer, his responsibility is not fighting at frontline but an expert at defusing bombs

I think this drama will be forced to rival youku's TFF and another Tencent's modern drama. I just hope everything will be fine...

i recommend Dark Night and Dawn, it's a recent period drama of him that got very high ratings on TV. The quality is guaranteed but it doesn't have much romance.

From what i know, the pearl eclipse drama adapted from the novel but they changed some of the plots about the supporting characters such as Tilan's loveline with TQZ to the emperor (her romance with emperor was changed into a toxic and red flag relationship btw). So CD will take the original loveline back but i expect some changes too.
