SKorea has LET GO of its original culture atm...they are busy with appeasing americans since...like...the past 20 years. That's the downside of imperialism. This can't be compared to other asian nations which are...well...sovereign nations who take great pride in their culture. Few are civilisation states as well so they portray these ancient cultures/ mythology quite well through cinema. S korea's horror romances and romances in general used to have a soul at some point because they weren't fully americanised, now, its gone! Beyond repair. I feel the same type of hollowness and soul deprived vibe in their romance/fantasy drama that I see in the American ones. Maybe they have also reached a stage where only science fiction is gonna work for them
