She's taken on some really challenging roles and she has delivered in every drama. It's almost like she's going…
Everything! She is one of the big reasons I have been disappointed in kdramas recently...I have been watching less and less kdramas because they have been giving lead roles based on AESTHETICS . Earlier, people like that used to get side roles before they worked their way up...that too if the qlplaudience liked them. Now, you are tortured by PR or called a hater for not liking someone's acting. Its sad to see kdramas giving a lot of opportunities to actors like that. Clearly, its all about big companies and their fav poster children. Many in the community seem to convince you to like bad or stiff acting in hopes that after ruining multiple dramas as leads, their acting will maybe be 5% better. Urh! What has kdramas turned into?
This drama deserves an 8.8 if I keep in mind MDL standards. They have given 8.6 -8.8 to a lot dramas that didn't…
MDL also has a major kdrama bias. I find most kdramas boring compared to chinese ones these days. The moment cdramas started touching the rating of 8.9 or 9, the kdramas went up to 9.3, 9.4 or something. ..which is quite exaggerated even for good dramas
Is this really so excellent or a little overhyped?
Exactly! I have the same concern. No matter how I think about it, it can't be more than an actual 8.8 but MDL has a thing where the more international reach the drama has, the more rating it has. That's it. 9.4 is too much
This drama has managed to capture my attention till the very recent episodes. There's only a few episodes left. Now, Allen Ren dramas always disappoints me with their ending. But I have to give credit to the script writer here...THE DRAMA SO FAR HAS BEEN VERY ENTERTAINING even though its not a romantic drama like that title suggests...that's why I don't really care about the ending anymore
I love HOW THE SECOND COUPLE ā£ļøā£ļø managed to create a fiery š„chemistry in just 2 episodes. That's talent right there. I was more interested in their love story..and I will finish the drama if they continue to show them
I have always liked him. Usually, people go to watch dramas because idols attract traffic but i believe, he is better as an actor. I remember him from "school 2015" when he was much younger. I have never seen a second lead eating up the first lead THAT BADLY
Expecting kissing in a series set in the Tang Dynasty is unrealistic. In that time, a man who respected a woman…
Expecting a woman to walk like that alone with a man is unrealistic for Tang dynasty...that too a betrothed woman. Also, having a demon hunter and a woman who got demon vision is unrealistic for any dynasty... besides, its not about kiss...but itnimate scenes in general. I also remembered that Tang dynasty women were quite plump becauss that was the beauty standard...and nothing like the the singers and other women shown in that drama. Its a fantasy drama at the end of the day...she would have been in an arranged marriage trying for kids by tang dynasty standards
I think the English title is over-selling the romance in the drama. And to be fair, there is a lot of romance…
But, you need to ask, "were there no such scenes because of the policy or unwillingness of the actors or was the story originally like that?" And you will know why some people might feel wronged
While we all love some skinship, it doesnāt always equate to chemistry. Some of Ren Jia Lunās best chemistry…
It is because of him creating a good chemistry that I have a problem with him... his chemistry doesn't meet a good end. Its angst ...but zero payoff and if he was like 19-23 year old, i would understand but that's a man way too old to have that kind of policy for romance dramas. I mean, i hope THIS DRAMA IS DIFFERENT . I have been liking it but waiting patiently for PROGRESS
I started watching c and k dramas because violence and sex isnāt in your face. I truly enjoy that itās left…
I have been regularly watching asian dramas in general since 10 years or more. People didn't even know of asian dramas internationally at that time. I am comparing him to HIS PEERS. I enjoy romance more than sex of course but when the chinese novels have romantic scenes...tv censorship reduces it to minimum (which suits my taste). He CUTS IT EVEN MORE and that bothers me.
I feeel the same way about the actor , but thatās just the way he is in most dramas ā so we have to accept…
He is "HIGH ANGST BUT NO PAYOFF" guy. You enjoy him building chemistry but he leaves you somewhat disappointed in the end.The Drama PR is active right now, so I will be attacked viciously for expressing my opinion but his problem is that he keeps accepting romantic roles. I don't have a problem with him acting in any other genre and its not just about a KISS..he denies doing passionate romantic scenes involving body in general. The thing is, he chooses GOOD ROMANTIC SCRIPTS and then proceeds with his "bare minimum skinship" policy. People watch because of the script, he creates good angst, hugs (maybe a peck) and then the show ends.
The reason I keep asking about the romance part is because this is a romance drama and the ML is known for not doing PASSIONATE ROMANTIC SCENES. He has a policy like that. The problem with him is...He keeps accepting romantic lead roles which ruins dramas for me. PHYSICAL AFFECTION IS NATURAL in romance dramas. Relationship development is no excuse to avoid it. I like his acting but I hope he doesn't leave the audience deeply unsatisfied again
