I think, somewhere... they took advantage of how much he wanted their love. They had an upper hand. Poor guy! Besides, when the sister entrusted the FL with the emperor's stick, I thought she would take responsibility for the family and lead them even when they became poor. I think anyone sho can read english knows the word "rebellious" and "deviant". Spoilt means "pampered" . HE WAS NEGLECTED, ISOLATED AND ATTACKED constantly. Kids who are beaten uo constantly even for doing right things like him end up becoming deviant and harsh. The FL was spoilt because she recieved love from all sides.

The sister clearly didn't like the family but Loved him and said that he was very close to her and when the family tried to sell her out for status ...(because marrying into the palace means a life of suffocation), he tried to break it (which COULD GET HIM KILLED COZ ITS TREASON) and was beaten so badly for it bu his father that he couldn't walk for months. Do you even understand what it takes to do that for someone? He stood up for her the second time when he got to know what happened to his sister, he berated the father badly again.
2) The Li family's anger was justified in the beginning but after they beat him up and made amends, after the daughter and him worked together, after he risked his life for her challenges and after he asked her to go away to her family when he got poor... after he was working hard to make a living...they decided to KILL HIS SPIRIT. Even the wife was soo disappointed in their behavior and called them out for it...and THEY LAUGHED. Absolutely Vile.
3) Oh please !! They have tried to portray her beating him up as funny! Its not romance at all. He is a prisoner. Poor guy walks on eggshells. The family has normalised beating and the wife doesn't have an ounce of respect for him.
Rebuilding fortunes doesn't mean you don't need to apologise and make amends. Matter of the fact is, He had a full character growth and longed for their love. He redeemed himself but the Li family failed to redeem themselves and did injustice to him.

He became rebellious and deviant because of constant lack of support, loneliness and negativity around him to snatch away his wealth. He was constantly berated and beaten for doing the right thing (supporting his sister).
2) What he truly needed was positive reinforcement and I thought the MIL and the rest of the family would give him that (and he did start to immediately respond to it) but they decided to BEAT HIM WHEN HE WAS DOWN and left him alone all over again. He never asked for their support. Instead, he was willing to just send his wife back and figure out the situation of the rest of the family but Li Family had to deliberately break his spirit. THIS IS NOT HOW A FAMILY ACTS . So vile! Imagine this happening to their daughter. They never truly APPRECIATED HIM .They would cause a riot with all sorts of people crying and howling.

I must say ...I absolutely love Liang Yong Xi ❣️and Chen He yi❣️. I started watching this drama partly because of Wang xing yue BUT THE THIRD AND FOURTH couples overshadowed others and I enjoyed their acting and journey more.
The reason I don't watch Jin Young's dramas is because...I can never see him as a the character. To me, he always remains Jinyoung which kills the experience.
Yeah..I have seen him in alchemy of souls. He was outshined by literally every character from main to side in terms of acting... since this drama has ahigh rating, I am guessing this role suits him
Naah...one of the female characters was outright mentally and physically abusive to her partner and they have shown her as "cool". The story is also weird and the only saving grace is the MALE ACTOR who has done an incredible job
