Can anyone explain to me why everyone is categorizing SRQ evil and hating him? weren't in the past life just like…
I don’t hate him because of his actions in the past. He’s just doing too much in the present. His desire to stifle LR's political career in the name of protecting her is disingenuous because he is clearly doing it for his family and the other nobles. He is also ridiculously smug without reason since he was a loser in the last life. All in all, he is just getting too much screen time, and I’m tired of seeing him.
They should have had the bandit work with JXB to catch the mastermind instead of this stupid plot. He was against Zornia, so how did he suddenly have fields of his own? They built up his character to be a good bandit, only to tear it down for a woman he just met.
finished episode 22. i'm not see these longing looks you guys are claiming from li rong to su rongqing. she stares…
The looks have been ones of longing for most of the series. We can deduce it's suspicion now from the last couple of episodes, but both the actress and director did a terrible job translating her emotions because she's been staring at him like this since episode one.

I don’t know why you expect people to view everything the same way you do. That is actual immaturity. Let people watch, enjoy, and interpret these characters as they want.
People here are simply incapable of appreciating complex characters... nobody in this novel is white and black..…
Every story needs a hero and a villain. We need someone to root for and someone to hate. Characters are shaped by their experiences, but their choices determine what they become in the end. While everyone is some shade of grey and not purely black or white, their actions usually place them closer to one side or the other.

She kept SRQ around because she believed PWX had someone else in his heart, so out of spite, she flaunted SRQ in front of PWX. His being castrated made it easier for her to keep him around without having to commit. If she actually wanted to move on from PWX, she would have found another man.
She had no emotional feelings for SRQ before his castration, so why choose to spend her life with him? It was because she felt guilty for what her brother did to his family and found him useful in her standoff with PWX. He had a lover he couldn’t be with, so she kept a lover she could never truly be with.
As someone posted below, I think it's getting clearer in bits and pieces how the drama wants to portray the past…
She never loved SRQ. Her past self confronting her about her feelings for SRQ highlighted this fact because she spent nearly 20 years with him, and her feelings for him are still unclear to her. You don’t spend 17 years with someone and remain unsure about them.
Li Rong's attitude towards SRQ is not quite satisfactory to me. I know a lot of people are saying it's not the…
This is what I’m saying. I can understand those looks in the beginning, but why are we halfway through the drama and still being disgusted by them every episode.
It's because she didn't blame SQR that much because she half expected his betrayal. When PWX asked if she didn't…
Her heart not being chilled at her murderer but at PWX makes zero sense if all he did was break her heart. Once they cleared the air, no one expects her to love him immediately, but still having an emotional attachment to SRQ doesn’t make sense, especially when she literally states that children of noble families have no real feelings and will do anything to achieve their goals after finding out he killed her. She clearly knows who he is and what he is capable of, so it's ridiculous that she keeps making eyes at him and looking at him longingly. This is why I think it's probably the director's interpretation of the story that is messing things up.

I agree that she never loved SRQ and is angry at PWX for breaking her heart. But then, she shouldn’t be having these longing looks at SRQ and flashbacks because he was simply a placeholder. The moment she found out he killed her, her heart should have chilled, and she should have made it clear he has no chance. Instead, we’re stuck feeling disgusted every episode with them staring at each other.
