This drama is an adaptation of the novel We Live Together. The novel is much rougher, and I honestly wouldn’t call it romantic. For example, the kiss scene in the drama is based on a scene in the novel that almost turned into drunken physical intimacy, but then the phone rang, and the heroine fell asleep while the male lead was answering the call.

The leads are attracted to each other, but they’re constantly bickering, insulting each other, and there are basically no tender moments between them. So the screenwriters softened a lot of things.

Jun’s storyline doesn’t exist in the novel at all, so I have no idea why they developed it. Probably just to have enough material for initially planned 40 episodes (now 36).

What about her detective drama with Xiao Shunyao? I thought it was a melon, but Shunyao flew to Chengdu for filming a couple of days ago.
