i think it differently. 10,000 years hong ye - he is a human prince where his clan got bullied and killed multiple time by demon clan. (demon sees them worthless creature) Ao he clan humiliated him by asking him to crawl and bite some materials with his mouth in order to save his people, but ao he still decided to kill them. just to prove a point and humiliated him. you see, no one born bad. they forced to be ruthless in order to fight back. reason of human and demon war, is because the demon ignorant attitude, those with power thinking that they can bully the weak without getting the payback. xiayao is a leader for dragon clan but she failed to understand his action and point of view. its like eye for an eye. rather than killing him straight, why dont have some table talk? arent that what leader suppose to do?
not only that, xiayao wants him to atone his sins by killing demon, so she injected her demon essence into Hong Ye so he wont die and enter reincarnation cycle and sleep for 5000 years. for me, thats very cruel thing to do. he only mistake is he is not ruthless enough and he is too in love with xiayao. because of that, he got killed twice because of her. i dont hate xiayao but she is too idealistic about demon and human. because of her pure heart and idealistic, hong ye died twice. yes they literally forgot that demon was the main reason why human is searching for Yuli Spring, they wanna be strong so they wont be bullied, killed by them. but the fact that after 10,000 aohe never say sorry to Hong ye. xiayao should said sorry to him too. because of her clan, they behave that way. but no, im right, you are wrong. haish. really pissed me off

For the second life, Hong Ye got punished by lightning because xiayao saved humans. after reaching demon valley, straight away giving him a hard time. After that, she proposed that demons and humans should try to coexist. He gave in and ended up dying because of human greed.
For the first life, she always had this ideal that Hong Ye was never a bad person. He is a good guy, but she forgot that no one is born bad. People are forced to be ruthless. If they are not ruthless, they will get trampled, humiliated, or murdered by demons. Imagine being humiliated like that. Ao He actually killed his people in front of him. For me, that’s a serious offense. Why did she never kill Ao He? He killed innocent people too. Did she even bother to ask Hong Ye what happened inside the cave? All she cared about was “I will protect you,” but she forgot that he is a human prince, a prince with feelings and responsibilities. exactly like how she leads demon clan. Does she care about how he felt when his people died for no reason? And the fact that one of her dragon clan actually killed his whole family. Does she expect him to be an angel and forgive them? The part where he found Yuli Spring and he broke down crying really made me very emotional. He found Yuli Spring, but at what cost? in order to protect his people, he had to be ruthless. I dont feel bad with the 3 ancient beast, especially aohe, he litterally killed his people,
Not only that, Xiayao injected demon essence into Hong Ye so he wouldn’t enter the reincarnation cycle. That’s quite selfish. Not gonna lie, the demons from 10,000 years ago are so smug and entitled.
Sorry for nagging, but I’m very emotional because Hong Ye didn’t get proper justice. Seeing that he even sealed the Kunlun Mirror in his body so no one could find Yuli Spring anymore broke my heart. TSY and HMH are great actors. I’m just not a fan of Xiayao’s character sometimes, especially when she’s being too idealistic about humans and demons.
For the ending, I don’t think she went back just to go down memory lane. She came back to save Hong Ye. I think there’s a chance because she knows what’s going to happen. Maybe she can save Hong Ye and the world. For me, it’s an open ending. I don’t think Hong Ye died either. He seems to have been sealed away from the world so the Kunlun Mirror won’t come out anymore.
Honest opinion, I need to digest little bit more to give overall feedback about this drama. the ending is really breaking my heart.
