He will always have a special place since I saw his great acting in some sageuks like The Legend (2007 drama) and Queen Seon Deok. He and Park Eun Bin were great together
If only I had actually watched the 2011 kdrama The Duo (one of his first acting roles, this was before he got quite popular with Rooftop Prince) , I would have something to brag like knowing an oscar winner film’s lead actor since his first roles. Nevertheless, Im still glad that I get to know him from Rooftop Prince and has since watched his parts in The Duo and was seriously impressed by his acting in both, especially Duo. Im so happy with his success in Parasite
The moment I heard his voice in his Tree with Deep Roots cameo, I knew he was special. Love his acting in Moon embracing the Sun and Missing You. Best chemistry with Kim So Hyun. Acting in Crowned Clown is also the best
His roles in Jumong and Enperor of the Sea were unforgettable. If he had been younger though and more people had watched his dramas (not getting intimidated because they were old sageuks), he would become more popular
Watching kdramas in the 2000s, this was one actor who I've seen in totally different roles and I was always impressed. From a villain in Emperor of the Sea, to a "womanly" man in Jumong to a King in Painter of the Wind to a sweet oppa in Dongyi/Shining Inheritance. :)
Thank you for writing this article. Moon Chae Won is a great actress I really love Moon Chae Won. Before all the bromances later portrayed in dramas, she and Moon Geun Young were able to portray great romantic chemistry in Painter of the Wind. She was also able to impress me there with her acting as a gisaeng, even if it was her first time in a historical drama. Oh I love her in Princess Man. How she was able to portray a woman who was torned between her family and her love. I love how effortless she portrayed her character growth there. I also really respect her for choosing "bitchy" roles in Innocecent Man" and "Shining Inheritance".
Hi! You should at least try watching even just Moon Chae Won's scenes in Painter of the Wind. She's really great in it as she proved there that she can have romantic chemistry with even a girl. BONUS: Bae Soo Bin of Shining Inheritance is also here as the King (him and Chae Won have so few scenes together though, if they had any at all)
My very first sageuk. What's very interesting in this one in comparison to the newer Sageuks is that the female lead chooses a simple life with another man than be with the king. I noticed that most recent sageuks with a king suitor for the female lead have him end up with her.
Depends on the ending you want: 1. If you want the gumiho daughter to live and experience a normal life: No, she dies a brutal death in episode 9, it's not the end of her character though as she appeared in scenes after 1. If you simply want the gumiho mom and daughter together: Yes, but note that they are reunited together after death 2. If revenge by the mom for her daughter's death is what you want: Yes, because the main villiains in the drama die (more satisfying since it was the daughter's gumiho form that killed the Yoon dad) except the villainous little sickly girl I'm not sure what kind of ending you want when it comes to romance-->if you care for the childhood romance of the gumiho girl and the young master, she said goodbye to him in a dream as a spirit, but we are shown afterwards that he is kind of sick. If you believe that he died afterwards, the love story could be a happy ending in a way as they are reunited after death
The best part about this was the small part that then child actor Lee Min Ho had!
I truly felt the romance and chemistry that he and Kim Yoo Jung had in this drama, even though I find that he's a bit lacking in acting skills compared to the two excellent girls here. It's really hard for me to see him lose her in Moon Embracing the Sun even if the roles are different and even if Yeo Jin Goo and Kim Yoo Jung were good there too
The drama that made me admire Song Joong Ki and Han Suk Kyu as actors. This was also the first drama I saw Yeo Jin Goo. Shin Se Kyung and Jang Hyuk were also great. For Signal fans: Jo Jin Woong is also here. King Sejong is the best King Korea ever had :).
