If you want to move away from his image of Kurosawa, watch a film called Sukimasuki (I watched it a few years back, so not sure if it's available online though) where Keita M plays the lead role who is into voyeurism! He's basically into spying on a woman across the street through a gap in the curtain and watches her getting undressed etc. He also takes his clothes off (ahem). That was a very "Japanese" film; OTT, weird and sweet loool

Yeah, it felt very intimate and fitting in that moment where we see the "purity" of Kurosawa's love for Adachi plus an overwhelming relief, warmth, affection all mixed together, whereas a kiss there would've made it seem like it's more "sexual" and superficial if you get my meaning?
