Age gap is indeed a bit uncomfortable but 1- if you judge it historically, that was normal. 2- if you judge it from a viewpoint of rebirth, she was a 25 year old woman when she died, even though she was immature to her age, she was an adult so she couldn't just fall in love with a teenager. When you think that way, it doesn't really bother you. What I like this book about is, the author didn't make her fall in love with her rapist. She was truly traumatised both in her first life and second life, avoiding physical contact with men. Even though she didn't seek revenge for herself, he didn't forgive him either.

I don't know the drama but Neo Huo is the most aesthetically pleasing man I've ever seen.

I've started watching today and objectively speaking it is a good drama, but I just couldn't get over the fact that FL is his brother's widow. My morality doesn't let me enjoy this show.

I really hope she is paired with Li Yunrui in a drama. I know she prefers leading actors with good acting skills instead of good visuals but - Li Yunrui has both. And I really want to watch her with someone handsome.

Of course I watched, and from what we see from the trailer, his upcoming drama Rebirth also has him with gray hair. I think producers realised we love him in silver ^_^

Originally, she had a loving family. Her father died, and her mother refused to remain as a widow and remarried to the emperor. Her mother's family was very wealthy but they lacked reputation because they were not chaste, and even though she was from a respectable family and truly so beautiful, her mother's remarriage ruined her reputation also (this doesn't make sense to us but for ancients it might be accurate) her cousins from her mother's side and both grandmothers loved and supported her. Her mother, her half brother and even the stepfather emperor loved her. All her in-law family also adored her - some of them def. not but at least they respected her as a family member and didn't make trouble. The only downside was male lead was really a chivanistic jerk at the beginning. He despised her and insulted her parents which was really hurtful for her. The marriage thing happened because the guy's original fiancee didn't want to marry him when he was in comatose. Because if he died she would remain as his widow for the rest of her life and she was just 16. They simply chose and a kind of forced FL because her family is known for their remarriages and nobody expected her to remain widow. She also volunteered because ML's family was powerful and because people in the harem cannot do anything to her mother but they targeted her to hurt her mother because she was easy to bully. She wanted to remain as his widow at least five years to be protected in their family - because empress doweger was ill and after her death nobody would come after her. But her husband woke up right after the ceremony and decided to be a jerk.

Do Chinese drama scriptwriters hate people having normal, loving families? Why did they changed the plot to true vs fake daughter? If you change the plot this much, then don't make adaptations at all. (I like the book so even though I rant here I will watch the drama anyway)

I ask this because I don't know, do her fans have some connection with her agent? I mean, it is not her or her direct representative who is denying the rumours so I just wonder.

I mean, they literally get themselves kidnapped by their spoiled bratty behavior and no one, actually NO ONE scolds them. I'm also against punishing children harshly, but this is not something small. that boy nearly got everyone killed and got away with just "don't do that again." That's not how to educate children, not now, not back in the days.

Similar, but he doesn't beat around the bush and says his true identity from the very beginning. It was a shock for me, I expected they drag this plot for around 20 eps or so.

In ep 2, before killing that man, I loved the way he called the guy closer and asked who he works for. It was so cool and funny.

That's their cultural thing. I can't say I totally understand because in my country everyone tries to evade taxes if they can :) But in China, even if you are wrongly accused of it, you might temporarily get banned like what happened to Song Zuer. Esther's drama with He Yu recently got its licence so it is highly likely she will not get a direct ban.

That's not the only thing. Her father is super rich, owns a mining company and now he is accused of tax evasion and loan sharking - and he is accused of buying her daughter a luxury handbag while going through a high consumption ban. Esther Yu says she has nothing to do with his father's company which in reality might be true but it is also true that his father's company invested in so many of her dramas and people claim she got those roles because of her father's illegal money. There was also another guy who claimed Esther Yu crushed his career because of her false dating rumours. Her fanbase is also accused of creating fake rumours about Wang Hedi, Xu Kai and Zhao Lusi. I think the former actress and other rumours wouldn't do much if her father wasn't super rich and accused of embezzlement because in China, because of communist ideologies people tend to hate the rich even without a proper reason - and her father gave them a good one.

I'm nearly 40 and I had around a dozen of lovers before getting married and I'm married for about ten years. Never cheated or two timed. So, a 400 year old demon having only 22 lovers seems so few to me.
