will watch a few more zhan zhao adventures episodes while waiting for it... I can't believe it's ending already…
Ending? We're only at the halfway point. This is a 14 episode drama.

Title Perfect Crown Spoiler
In episode 8 we got to see some of the qualities that would make Yi An a good king. When his wife fainted he immediately…
Which is exactly why the queen mother is so afraid of him. And his late brother certainly recognized that as well, since he was planning to abdicate in favor of Yi An.

What do yall think about this?https://www.reddit.com/r/kdramas/comments/1t3467i/iu_hui_jus_cheaplooking_presson_nails_in_perfect/
Personally, I haven't really noticed or paid attention to it. There's more than enough to enjoy with respect to the visuals.

However, I do remember seeing someone talking about an interview with IU. Apparently, the nails aren't an accident, but part of the character. First Hui Ju has a nail picking habit and second she only wears press on nails in public appearances.

I tend to believe this simply because the nail issue has been consistent through the entire series and her appearance is otherwise perfection. It's just too consistent and obvious to be sloppiness. Remember, there are a lot of insecurities underneath that tough exterior.

What is going to be interesting, is when she finally lays those demons to rest, are we going to see her nails improve? Or will it remain one of the character's quirks?

Unless absolutely necessary we all know this man is not divorcing her.
"We all know this woman is not divorcing him."

FIFY! Pretty much everyone around her knows she'll totally in love with him, except herself. And that, I expect, will change very soon.

What is the consensus?who is the main villain here?doesn't look like that Queen's dad knows much.. he is only…
I thought at one point they were a rosary, or at least the loop part of what. They sure have the pattern of some a prayer bead.

Not going to guess the ultimate villain at this point. Or rather the scope of the conspiracy, if there is in fact one.

They been playing with our heads all along where Minister Kim is concerned. Is he going to be the perpetually villainous Left State Minister? Or will he prove to be the Chief State Councillor and be I-An's ally?

Was the queen mother - another standard candidate for a sageuk villain - upset that it was Hui Ju almost got killed out of shock or because the real target was missed.

The king's grandfather just exudes that Left State Minister aura. Is it misdirection? Especially since he was so shocked at his daughter's actions and has warned her off.

It can really go any way at this point. Which also has me a bit concerned. This feels more like ending episode 8 of a 16 episode sageuk rather than a 12 episode one. 16 might be too many, but I'm beginning to wish for 14.

Whats the Ost when they enter the hall for the wedding ceremony at the end of ep 7? Been trying to find it but…
Not sure of that song, but they march during the procession to the palace was a very obvious homage to the parade in The Phantom Menace. Right down to the giant drum.

So, first impressions? This is looking like a perfect light(er) romantic romp colored by childhood traumas. I for one, actually appreciate their telegraphing the plot tropes early so I know if I want to watch it. As such, it is a perfect mid-week break for sipping coffee with my wife after work.

It seems to have some of the feel of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha with a bit of the hidden traumatic elements of Her Private Life condensed into a smaller package that's meant to be a filler between all the heavier stuff. If this were a Hallmark movie, it would be one of those nice fillers between the holidays.

There's good chemistry. Both characters are likeably unlikable here in the beginning. Which is the whole point. It's clearly targeted for a happy ending, which is good. My biggest concern is whether they can maintain the fun when the inevitably shift to the hard past comes up in the second half. That's where this kind of drama usually runs into issues.

So, if you can take it for what it is intended to be, this looks like a lot of fun. If you expect more, then do yourself - *and* us - a favor and just move on.

Exactly! And that is what I'm sure they intended from this. A fun light romp that is simple escape.

don't worry it is not a BL drama. it is gonna be a student - teacher romantic drama.
Thanks for that! Neither my wife or I like BL stories. We might give it a look now.

Does anyone think that there will be romance between the male and female lead?
They have certainly been telegraphing it pretty solidly. I do think it will be secondary to the story, however.

I'm still waiting for FL to completely team up with ML. It's been 6eps already!!!
I was worried about this as well. Then I realized this is a 16 episode drama. That said, I'm really hoping it happens next week. That's eps 7 & 8 and it will be time to pick up the pace on the main plot about her sister and the ties with the big law firm.

Jisoo had to show herself a bad singer🤣..how out of character that must've been for her🤣
It actually tells you how good a vocalist she really is. Going just offkey enough to be painful is extremely difficult to do on purpose. I'm a sound engineer, and it sounded real, not like they used post processing to detune her.

I remember the rating was 8.5 before, but now it has dropped to 8.2. Is it really that bad? I’m still unsure…
It's dominating the ratings in Korea for a (very good) reason. The comments section here is getting as bad as the knetz, with the number that come here for no other reason than to complain.

It's one of the best shows in the subgenre I've seen. If they stick the landing it will be right there with Vincenzo or My Demon.

Omg this deserves more viewers and higher reviews it’s so awesome
Don't worry. The show is actually doing great.

The good news is that the reviews here are irrelevant as far as the studio or Netflix is concerned. When the show is dominating the #1 slot OTA in Korea, not even the toxicity of the knetz will matter, much less someplace like here. Most people just come here to complain about not being catered to.

The show is a home run both in Korea and on Netflix. If you want a more civil discussion, go over to r/KDRAMA on Reddit. It's pretty tightly moderated, but over the years I've come to the conclusion that is a good thing.

She wasn't even in a hurry to become a nine tailed fox, that's why she gave her fox bead to Eunho and let her…
Exactly. It takes centuries to become human. Even if she were to push hard, we found out in the earlier part of the story it wouldn't have been in their lifetime for her to earn her 9th tail.

There are a lot of serious dramas out and we needed something light and fluffy to ease the mood at times. This drama fit the bill perfectly!

There is nothing wrong with a drama being light, predictable, and sweet with leads to cheer and clear villains to boo. A great light watch!

Episode 11 was really good, but there’s one thing I don’t understand — what exactly is the hanmin founder…
She's pretty much the Delores Umbridge of this story. She's a survivor by any means necessary.

So…i hate cliffhanger every end of the episode. It makes me wanna invent a time machine.
Hmm... try watching The Great Doctor (also called Faith). :-)

About episode 8, I don’t really think what they did was a good deed. They took everything from the old chairman…
He was a) making the deal on insider information effectively, which is illegal regardless the price, and b) Eun Ho used her power to force the researcher to make the deal when he wasn't going to at any price.

Koreans take that kind of malfeasance *very* seriously.

I'm afraid this drama won't have a happy ending.I think Eun Ho will die, become a nine-tailed fox again, or turn…
There is a formula to these kind of stories. Keep that in mind. The supernatural being - whether demon, gumiho, or whatever - that has fallen in love *always* sacrifices itself for the human lover. Then we get a time skip. Sometimes - like My Demon - it's months. Sometimes it can be several years, like in My Man is Cupid. Spirit creature is sent back for a happy ending.

Sometimes it doesn't happen. Koreans love their tragedies, after all. But they like happy endings as well. This drama has all the signs of following that classic pattern.
