Kdramas like their ML's to be very very pure virgins. Even when these ML's touch themselves, they only ever think…
Nah... I wouldnt say so. I would say that most kdramas are based on twisting the yin-yang to make it prejudicial to women... I would say most kdrama plot involves FL(s) who are be dumb irrational reactive losers who KEEP GETTING IN TROUBLE, and ML to be cold-blooded, logical, stable presence UNTIL they start saving the chick out of trouble and thus their heart melts. Also, there are usually 2 guys chasing one woman.
Nah guys are not necessarily virgins... But the ML always does have to be faithful and stable. Kdramas portray men with high integrity and standards.

and women who are low level :) The woman too can be dating others.

But usually kdrama is usually about a true love so ppl tend to spend time grieving and not dating others, or go back to their love as soon as they can

Luckily for us, these typical generic tropes are usually not put into a drama that is 100% soap. Could have been :)

I bet it's like that—he didn’t date because she broke his heart, so he had no room for anyone else. Still…
I disagree... Kdramas are very sexist and portray women as irrational, REACTIVE, dumb losers who keeps getting in trouble AND THE MAN IS THE STABLE LOGICAL PROTECTIVE PRESENCE, AT FIRST HIS HEART IS CLOSED, BUT HE KEEPS SAVING THAT DUMBO CHICK AND THEN HIS HEART OPENS AND HE GUIDES HER BETTER. Bc he loves her and feels a sense of duty. This is the most common kdrama plot.
Heck. What a nasty brainwashing dark evil fairy tale :)

It is true that women are mostly yin and men are mostly young, but yin has some yang in it, and vice versa, and it is a CONSTANTLY MOVING balance. Womem too are strong, logical, etc with the sliver of the young they got.

And there are plenty beautiful confident and strong women, right now only Serena Williams the tennis player comes to my mind but there are others..... Hm Men too are sensitive, emotional, and soft lovely with the little yin they have. But kdramas kinda leave women to be housewives and hairdressers etc and not really powerful and on their feet (unless she is a super mean shark). Lately there are some female-attorney dramas.

Title The Haunted Palace Spoiler
And the fact that the Gangcheori has saved her several times, yet she only thinks about Lord Yoon Gap is just…
When she learned earlier that he saved her from tigers so many times, she DID thank him and started liking him. When he told her that he did not kill his grandma, she stopped hating him altogether and they became quite close. She even confessed to him that she is drawn to him :) and that she is so glad that she can freely like him now, and I think she kissed him. She also swore no matter what, she will always pray for him. She told him he is her protector... She is very very deeply connected and thankful and appreciative. She is his woman... 100%.

But what I want to talk about is: seems like that vengeful spirit Palcheok-gwi the 8ft monster is also called Colosal Shadow and Celestial General. ALL 3 names refer to the same being, per review on the web. We know when exactly he was born, so he is NOT a memory of all kings.

I saw somewhere someone wrote that Colosal Shadow is the "memory" of all kings and Celestial General is his "servant" who brings him ppl to eat.

Thoughts on this?

The point of this kdrama is for the imugi to ascend. Ascension means becoming Light, which means open heart, loving kindness and compassion, etc. It just so turned out that the fastest way for Gang Cheol to ascend was to be in a high quality romantic humane relationship with Yu Ri. A few months of interacting with her changed him for better more than 1000 years before. He is NOT selfish anymore - for most part :) So that's done.
And, the romance is not forced. There is the deep part of caring for each other over decades, having trust, keeping open communication, listening, and teamwork, in mundane and life-threatening situations. keeping an open heart, being patient, understanding, etc etc etc and also the sexy is a necessary spice that provides MOTIVATION to keep trying to become close, and they both keep blushing ;) Gang Cheol has a chance to experience all of that via the human body and the romance is very organic as he is in a healthy young male body and that nice girl that takes care of him is ... well... genuinely interesting to him :) it is organic and not forced. All their time together through very difficult situations that made them RESPECT AND APPRECIATE each other produces romance that is organic and not forced.
She is not in love with YG and YG does NOT love her. YG just got her by chance to bring her to the palace. Gang Cheol is the one who stood by her for decades and protected her. So GC and YR are a pair.

Nope the romantic love is not forced LOL It is a young healthy male feeling the nice girl next to him who keeps helping him, caring for him, and doing all these adventures together. WHAT DO YOU THINK HE IS FEELING? LOL something forced? No... way....

She has NOTHING in common with YG and she has SO MUCH in common with Gang Cheol. She loves GC, not YG. The body is YG though. I am not sure if YG can become alive again... ? GC purpose is to ascend. He has been ascending with her a lot faster than meditating alone for 1000 years, in just a few months he is so much more open and loving and on his way to becoming a saint. .... SO GOD KEPT HIM STUCK IN HUMAN BODY BECAUSE HIS FASTEST PATH TO ASCENSION WAS A RELATIONSHIP WITH YU RI.

So .. how this will get resolved will be to provide everyone what they need to move on... and the form of that?... bulla :) teso :) I am sure it will be good.

Gang Cheol's purpose is not to learn about humans, but to ASCEND. For that, he MUST learn caring, love, compassion, sacrifice, patience, communication, etc.
AND THE HIGH QUALITY HUMANE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE SHAMAN GAVE HIM THAT OPPORTUNITY. I think he appreciated the quality of her being and that is how it started. BUT it deepened when his human body offered the MOTIVATION to be even nicer ;) and win her over :)
The bait was her being female. That made him curious enough to try

The romance is NOT forced LOL bc YGimugi is experiencing contact with the shaman as a young healthy male would, there is nothing forced about it, it is very organic and natural, and that is why it is really sexy, if you have not noticed. It would be your loss to not notice, really, you are missing out

She is nice, she helps him, and she is female. He is SMITTEN

And how could you possibly even say there is not enough emotional foundation??? He saved her from tigers for decades, they had to many adventures where they had to totally trust each other, they helped each other so many times, etc etc etc WHAT DO YOU NEED FOR EMOTIONAL FOUNDATION???? going to see a movie and dinner dates??? common ...

Yes one CAN learn about familial bonds, compassion, care and loyalty without romantic love - just get yourself a dog or a cat or something alive to take care of. Family SHOULD provide that too.
Better yet, become a monk and learn all that directly from God.

HOWEVER, none of those are as fast and profound tool for growing as romantic love because it is most risky :) It pushes the buttons :) It tests you :) and it forces you and motivates you to grow, bc there are rewards, such as ... love, attention, company, and sex :) And also, you have to EARN IT, and also your loved one keeps hurting you every day AS YOU ALWAYS WISH FOR MORE and you have to make understandings and keep going.

True romantic love is super difficult to maintain. You have to totally totally TRY 100% TRY 24/7 to be the best person you can possibly be... wow that is hard work. You are not perfect, the other side is not perfect!!!!! you both keep making mistakes.. and fixing them LOL and you go on. It is worth it :) There is nothing like it. It is a total and true partnership and teamwork. IT IS LIKE DRIVING THE HUSKY SLED FOR HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF MILES OVER NORTH POLE IN MID WINTER. Only you and your love.

And so that happened to Gang Cheol. He started really caring for her and had to win her over. Then he had to learn to take in all that warm fuzzy energy of love. Then he had to learn to handle grief that comes when you lose love. And so on. He learned A LOT and grew and changed

MARRIAGE YOGA as the hardest form of yoga is a saying from India, the idea is that you achieve enligtment via your marriage. SO PLEASE GO WITH THAT :) It is more accurate :) Buddhism and HInduism definitely promote marriage yoga, the purpose of being married is to help each other achieve enlightment. So practice of loving kindness and compassion, communciation, patience, service, etc etc becoming a boddhichitta in the householder form... those are all TRUE IDEAS OF MARRIAGE. Marriage yoga requires witnessing ugly sides of your partner and helping them, requires utmost self reflection and honest communication and attempts to KEEP TRYING to be a better person and to keep the heart open regardless how risky it is. So yeah - it quickly WORKS to make you a lot better person ...

That Chinese saying that love brings calamity is a total hogwash, UNLESS they meant "blind hormonal love" which then is true. But TRUE LOVE is the only way to enlightment. Gotta have that heart open :)

Please consider forgiving the Chinese for confusing you :) Chinese have more historical, political and lifestyle issues - anything from opium epidemics and colonization that lasted for centuries all the way to dictatorship communism that lasted for decades and is getting worse - and somehow that rubbed off onto their dramas, they have less talent for telling stories imo... their history is so messed up that something is lost, their dramas are more crude and cruel and lack WARMTH and SOFTNESS imo.

Too bad you dont feel their romance, imo you are missing out, bc their romance is THE foundation for Gang Cheol WANTING to be more caring AND ACTING IT. Also, their romance is really sexy, comical, deep, hilarious, and profound.

Bc YGimugi is discovering human body and emotions, so he is like a teenager who is discovering that his body is now experiencing strange and new sensations - various parts of adult life :) and since he has no experience and nobody to guide him, he is left to his own devices to figure out what is going on ;) and it is SUPER COMICAL HILARIOUS. Thus he seeks advice of the King who is super happy to bestow his opinion that YGimugi is in love and tells the imugi what to do :) so YGimugi and King become DEEP FRIENDS and that also helps the imugi to become a higher quality being.

Also, he and she grow together in communication and deep intimate HEART sharing and underlying passion (at this point only that but we know they wont keep their hands off for too long... ) and so in so many ways they are a very solid positively-intertwined couple and totally feel deeply-married-for-life aka life partners already

If you cannot feel their romance then perhaps start looking deeper

Mr Dokgo surprised me... how he stood up for his daughter. Honestly!!! I really did not expect him to show that…
With all due respect. . I used to think that too. But that scene where he says it is his precious daughter and the scene where he cooks porridge and says he wont be able to live if his wife AND daughter are gone, ... felt genuine. That is why I was shocked. He has some moments. For example when he liked Ha Ni when SeRi brought her to their house.
Indeed he is very corrupt and perhaps he is a hopeless case. I am just trying to say, HE HAS SOME MOMENTS.

WOW YOU SAID IT!!! this is so well said. Indeed "protecting someone's feelings" by LYING to them is a sure way…
Wait, DID the brothers know that he was adopted? It was only Professor who knew who his mom was. So did other brothers know where Soldier came from? I dont think so.... ?
I am sure he will understand the lying "to save him pain" BUT also will feel funky for a while and might go off the deep end too.....
He likes his mom naturally so I hope they will talk and clear some old fogs..
AND I suspect going into a funk might be helpful to bring Bom in to help him ;)
