China just has too much suffering and that crude raw flavor permeates their dramas. The "humor" in Bond is .... not really humor. It is too serious. Nothing to laugh about. It is not funny. It is sad. It is truly sad that human beings live like slaves like that for thousands and thousands of years and STILL.

Kdramas are more fine, more sophisticated, elegant and WARM. I think influence of Buddhism

Me too, am shocked how bad AI is. The translation goes totally totally totally ... off the deep end. Except for the basics like thank you, yeah, sorry, etc. Interestinly the translation typically messes up the noun, instead of "I am doing..." it is always "you are doing" or something like that. And the phone conversations or self talk are NEVER translated.
So.... I found sites that have pretty good manual translations :)

There arent too many girls in that highschool, so the boys are really limited in who they meet... THe rugby coach is at the high school bc of the shooting coach.....

So you want to study how to play rugby? Then watch some lessons on how to play rugby better. Better yet, TAKE some lessons. GO PLAY if you are really curious how to play rugby better. A drama will NEVER show you THAT.

And fyi his is not any melodrama, this is a drama about a team that plays rugby in a phys ed highschool, training to go pro. It will be similar somewhat to other sports in some ways, but still, this is ONE story of THIS particular group of people, You get to peek behind the scenes of a sports team.

I understand your position. I am watching this to see HOW the script will transform this guy. Bc he is NOT 100% cold type. He has a good heart and has done some caring loving things. BUT he is ignorant and tries to act John Wayne macho,
He is a copy of his patriarchal fossil John Wayne dad and intimidated weak housewife fossil mom.
AND HE WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO MEET EH WHO IS MATURE AND STRONG ENOUGH TO SPEAK THE TRUTH AND HOLD HIM ACCOUNTABLE.
I am curious how he might change bc to me this kdrama is kinda pivotal, what are the ways to break thorugh this fossilized male egotism? ... and one of the consequences is to have more equal love partnership... I am curious to see what solution this drama provides

I liked Divorce Insurance better. It was educational - we saw what makes marriages fall apart or work. I love the ML love story too. And the comeback of the Old SalesPerson and his wife. I think Divorce Insurance was very positive by the end. It started american style, with super fast supposedly smart and witty dialogue, which is super fake and boring... and luckily that went away and there was more focus on the growth. By the end, I liked it, it was GENUINE, LEARNING AND CHANGE

this drama on the other hand has ZERO learning and change

I was already bored to death and frustrated in ep 5 bc NOTHING CHANGED everyone is the same old same old isolated non-communicative stupid

why you think "misunderstood" is appropriate? He is not misunderstood. He was first sold into slavery by his father, and then he was STUCK there, first bc he had to until his dad got out of jail, and then he was STUCK FOREVER bc he himself did not make any effort to get out. He is not misunderstood, he is complacent and depressed and LAZY

Please watch at least half of one episode to make up your OWN opinion.

@joonie where did ML get that big ego, immaturity, insecurity, pride, not talking things? Isnt he a younger copy of his father, who is a fossil moron, old school patriarchal John Wayne dinosaur..... who throws off his house and his kids for the sake of looking good with the in-laws, etc . and his wife, who never stands up to him.... The Eldest Son is matching those dumb prehistoric standards... And the Eldest Son was lucky enough to find EH who is brave and honest enough to stand up to him and hold him responsible.

SO that is WHY I am hanging around to see how this will be resolved, what the script writer sees as a way out for younger males, to avoid becoming fossilized dinosaurs without any emotions and communication and self accountability

I would give him a little bit more chance but yeah I hear you, it is not worth waiting forever. I think he has potential and I think the script is bad and not showing his different sides in a more balanced way

Like in Beyond the Bar the lawyer ML is a grumpy closed off character BUT then there are lots of scenes where he shows deep emotions and care, we get insights into his past love life and emotions that made him so, and we see scenes in his current life where he shows higher level emotions and behaviors like care, compassion, help, wisdom, etc. So we are more likely to cheer him on bc his potential is made obvious.

This drama doesnt show ML's wounds and potential properly, in the last 2 or 3 episodes we saw only the bad behavior due to wounding, so we dont want to cheer him on

it is understandable, I am visiting my mother in a small country that is not a significant market to the drama ppl

kdramas are famous for U turns and twists leading to self reflection, effort, communication, and character growth. So I am patiently waiting for the story to begin. The story begins when there is MOVEMENT FORWARD
if the characters are stuck, the audience gets frustrated.
I dont watch anything western - or Chinese or other for that matter - precisely bc they keep the plot in one place and there is no intentional process of self reflection, self effort and character growth. Watching something like that is boring and waste of time. Luckily kdramas provide an alternative. But if a kdrama doesnt, then it too is a waste of time. For Eagle Bothers and The Nice Guy are examples of dull stuck stagnated kdramas.

WE ARE ALL WAITING TO SEE HOW THIS DRAMA WILL MOVE FORWARD. Make it move forward.

yeah we are all patiently waiting ... or dropping. The script is weak so the drama is dragging the intro too much and many are losing patience. This drama lacks balance. Right now it got into 10000% muck without any explanations and balances so it is boring and even frustrating because the story is STUCK.

Mom and dad are dinosaurs. Dad is the John Wayne dinosaur and Mom is the intimidated housewife dinosaur. The kids are the product of inadequate upbringing.

AI translation is usually super bad :) I know enough Korean to get away with the basic kdrama vocab LOL but I do enjoy watching more sophisticated conversations :) Viki translation is all right. But I will cancel Viki bc it doesnt work in my region for most dramas and the translations are so late

Stalker is set up by stepmom who directs her stepdaughter, 2ML sister, to do things that lead to her mental illness and then suicide or accidental death.

Stepmom is trying to destroy the kids and is literally killing the daughter and is now setting up EH in a scandal or something super nasty that will destroy 2ML or make 2ML run away with EH to Bolivia and never come back... so the step mom can grab the company

2ML is oblivious to her sister being mentally ill and dying bc of that stalker scheme that mom set up
