Professionally done excellent triller, psychodrama, rom com and healing story

Everything is top notch,

except one thing: I think it is distasteful and artistically grossly cheesy to show scenes of murder / murdered people in great detail, repeatedly. TMI TMI TMI.
Just say what they looked like dead, or just show the blood all over, or someone throwing up in disgust...
Do NOT show us what it really looks like and HOW it became that way, we the people are not forensic experts. Leave it to american movies to show shocking, meaningless, scandalous, distracting, dumb details like that. Bc kdramas do not do such dumb scenes, and that is WHY we watch kdramas only. BE SOPHISTICATED

Other than this complaint, imo the drama is stellar.

The acting is stellar except FL.

The ML is an excellent minute detail actor and it is worth rewatching just to see him. There are other numerous characters represented by excellent actors. I would say practically everyine in this kdrama is acting super well. Except perhaps FL.

Although ML is so grumpy and not well dressed, the character (and the actor) is very cute bc he is GENUINE. The ML character is honest. We do not know why, we just find him that way. Druggingly honest. I am not sure how he managed to stay honest in his line of work.... how come nobody killed him yet for exposing stuff??? But - he is honest, warm, good person underneath a very grumpy cold isolated exterior.

The small detail of taking off the hat and showing hair is super effective to emphasize his good looks and his softness underneath being grumpy. The fact that the hair is slightly curly and messy is actually cute.
The contrast of the straight "lid" hat and his curvey soft hair is an amazing "trick" to showcase his good looks and softness, you get the sneak peek of what is behind the front wall... The front wall is so high and so tough....

The lid hat on and off is like a metaphor when he feels safe to come out of his shell and be real himself and be vulnerable. That is why FL doesnt let him take the hat off, bc then she is gonna fall in and jump on him :) and get beat up since his defense wall is very high and very tough. But she is waiting ... im ambush, camouflaged... taming him very very very slowly....

ML is fun to watch bc he has soooo many shades of emotion. There is no actor and character, there is just this PERSON, this detective, who is ALIVE on that screen. It is like watching a real person live their life. There is no "acting". The actor IS that person. totally convincingly.

I think the actor is the same actor from Oh My Venus?Hm no he is not :) my bad. They just look alike.... I have not seen him in any role before. Or maybe I have, but I thought it was So Ji Bin :) to me they really look alike.

In any case, ML acting is so convincing, it is clearly a unique person in this drama. Wow great actor!!!!

how that actor acts is waaaaay beyond good looks, he acts FOR REAL, there is not the smallest shade of doubt that actor IS that detective. Excellent excellent acting. The icing on the cake is that he is cute.

FL on the other hand was - hey this is Itewon Class chick!!! here again!!! same face, SAME ACTING, SAME PERSONALITY....

FL is cute but one dimensional in her acting, she does NOT show a range of emotion at all, her response in 99% of ALL situations is a surprised snide look.... one version of "poker face" just a little bit more animated than the poker face..... AND THE SAME FACE SHE SHOWED IN ITEWON CLASS... so it is boring to watch her except for mostly eye candy.

Seriously what is up with female leads, most of them can NOT act. WTF WHY????

I did not recognize the actress from Itewon class but as soon as I saw that acting, I KNEW it was her, it is THE SAME ACTING, 100% THE SAME PERSON...... the Itewon Class chick showed up in this kdrama as one of the participants...

COMMON!!!!!!!!!! ***** ACT ***** AND BE A DIFFERENT CHARACTER EVERY TIME!!!!!

Luckily FL script is super smart so that is fun to watch how she figures out various crimes and people. It is also filmed sometimes in a very creative way, so we "see" her thought process. That is all fun.
And please get those bangs out of her eyes so that WE CAN SEE HER better, she has pretty and shiny eyes

Luckily the script is slightly different, the Itewon Class chick in that kdrama was taming someone who was also protected by super afwul head style - his own moronic haircut - but in that kdrama, ML was closed off and shut down totally, he could not "take off" his bad hairdo, he was always under that ARMOR.
In this kdrama, Itewon chick is at least trying to tame a guy who has heart and even sometimes shows it.

The script is amazing, it is sooo riveting, you never know who is betraying whom...

I might have one idea though. After ep 8, I am starting to suspect that the orphan boy who was the subject of doctor's seminar talk is the culprit and he is the Captain :) After the start of ep 9, I am sure it is not the captain, he had a mother. But I still suspect the killer is that orphan boy. And perhaps the captain accidentally put the fire under his truck or something like that... And, who is the orphan boy? The new recruit or the two police bosses... ?

Overall, this is a really well done kdrama that is extremely interesting.

Oh one detail - in this kdrama, UNLIKE ALL OTHER KDRAMAS, the FL is chasing the ML who is a typical single guy .... how she is roping him in is remarkable LOL Omg she is sneaky and clever!!! that dude is totally roped in and he doesnt even realize it yet.... She got him!!!!!

And yeah that is the same plot of Itewon class... they took this actress bc she can act a chick patiently trying to rope in a guy who has NO DESIRE WHATSOEVER to date.

But it is the typical american plot... bc in the USA men NEVER court ladies, the men expect to be courted by women and their p#### pride kissed up. I think the USA has a shortage of men, plus many are gay, so finding a single guy worth attention is like looking for buried gold... ALmost mission impossible...

So the rom com reminds me of the USA, where stuff like that is normal,
rather than what is shown in kdramas, where TWO male leads chase one FL. That puts S Korea as the leader of testosterone and real men out there..

The USA us super short on testosterone. THe men are just .... very few and very weak and not masculine at all, they are all silver spoon men who wait for women to compete with other women and win them and fall into their lap. An american male is a lost cause already. CONSUMERISM made men go extinct in the USA...

The ML detective is a very closed off male who has not been interested in romance ... for at least 10 years and probably more..... so FL tricking him, baiting him, ORDERING HIM, movng on LOL with the suitcase and humidifier LOL sleeping there, eating there, ... and in general taking charge to tame him is totally endearing and hillarious. The drama does not make it into comedy but it is tragicomic and also endearing, they are helping each heal from trauma, and she is very gentle with him, so they never really clash, they keep moving forward. Excellent couple communication.

So this is a MASTERFUL DOCUMENTARY OF HELL, this is what hell looks like.
If you have bad karma, you get born in China - people living on top of each other in super crowded conditions and MEAN
and esp in a family like this - this is HELL
to get out of this is almost mission impossible

In poverty, everyone becomes vicious
The father is a lost case anyways
but then we have the mom's sister, etc who is consistently a greedy shark
and the little girl going for the money
and even good guys like oldest brother trying to elbow forward and ditch his sister, and letting QiQi die

Letting Qiqi die is ... wow... how can this cdrama be even called "the bond" and "heartfelt family drama" when nobody cares for Qiqi... ???? the 4 siblings and the aunt are all ditching Qiqi.... only aunt's son cares for him.
QIQI WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD!!!!!! so how can this be a "heartfelt family drama"??? about a strong family bond??? gees...

This drama is not on Viki. Why?

The recent cdramas that fake afluent Western lifestyle are soooooo FAKE IMITATION and just a cheap cover up

yeah there are wealthy ppl in China but the reality is, China comes from THIS and also the heroin epidemics, and thousands of years of HELL, and there is no way to overcome that with the current hell that China is today

China just has too complex history of SUFFERING that keeps going on bc it is doggy eat doggy there, it is just very harsh elbowing forward
and seems like it will never change. Too much wounding over thousands of years. The feeling is just too heavy...

And I finally can state why kdramas are more fine and sophisticated - Koreans still have creativity and a wicked sense of humor. That permeates kdramas, even when cheap or trashy. Koreans are somehow FINER AND LIGHTER. I think their Buddhist past makes it so.

Koreans are being americanized really fast so they might lose it all real fast if they are not careful....

Also, this drama, The Bond, is a masterpiece in acting and certain messages, and it is very deep. It doesnt have humor.... That is what makes it heavy and sad. The episodes about children are horror and there is no place for humor there, but episodes with adults SHOULD have some humor and they don't.

Seems like China suffered so much that they lost sense of humor.
Also they lost sense of accountability, ppl make mistakes but have to stick together, so all kinds of violations are "forgiven".... so standards for human behavior are lesser...
And seems like the suffering made them go deeper.

When Chinese make something masterful, it often surpases the Korean masterful. For example, I cannot think of anything that Koreans produced that could even compare to Chinese 2016 movie "Xuan Zhang" about the Buddhist monk who walked to India.
Or Journey to the West about that monk conquering his inner demons before he started.

Korea perhaps has the pressure of capitalism and selling their dramas and movies, and maybe some Chinese are more likely to forget the money and do the art, and do it DEEP, bc of all the oppression they experience.

I don't know.

But I do know that China has a lot to offer
and to offer that, it must stop the cruelty inherent in the politics and daily life.
And I am not sure if that will happen :)
China is currently colonizing Africa and stealing African resources,
China is genociding Tibet,
China is censoring their own ppl

I am not sure how it can be resolved ... soon enough :)

Meanwhile cdrams will be mostly fake / crude / cheapo trash and then occassionally a GEM like this drama....

As for acting:
Now I understand why ErQiang is not on screen a lot, that actor is not so good, he has "poker face" and "smiley face" but not much else. He is actually one of the weakest actors in the drama. Pretty face :) when he smiles but ... not too much skill yet. He is new.

The Oldest Brother actor is a masterful actor and gets most scenes

As for the story, my opinion after ep 14:
I kept watching this drama bc when the kids grow up, it gets lighter - but not really light. It stays heavy..... That is the signature of cdramas.. they are so heavy.
There is no humor anywhere. There is no spiritual practice anywhere. There is no self reflection.
They just keep SURVIVING by sticking together no matter what mistakes they make.
Truly, surviving hell.

So cdramas are about sheer survival, just to LIVE, so there is no space for humor and it is heavy. The ppl do not have the space for finer things like that. They are gonna DIE. It is that serious.

And it is "interesting" how their adult lives are filmed without any reference to the oppressive politics and lifestyle. Clearly it is all censored out.

I am a student of traditional Chinese medicine and tai chi, and I spread all Chinese videos about healthy movement (kung fu warmups and tai chi) and I make a living from it and use it in my daily life, and so many times when I had medical issues, Chinese traditional doctor helped me, and I always held respect for the Chinese SUPREME KNOWLEDGE about many things

After watching this drama, I felt immense compassion for the people who have survived all these horrible things. I am not sure how to put it in words, but my heart feels for them SURVIVING in spite of the hell they are born into, without any help.

Korea practiced Buddhism and somehow was able to evade some of this? Chinese seem left to their own devices and they coped somehow.
But .... They are killing Tibetan buddhists and are basically cutting down the branch they sit on. People cannot live without a spiritual practice. It is equivalent to food.
And organized Chistianity can never provide it :) bc it is fake and hypocritical and actually teaches dead-end strategies. Christianity is a religion designed to manipulate people. Meditation is forbidden in Christianity. The emphasis is on the suffering on the cross and feeling guilty, instead of extensive effort in self reflection, letting go of preconceived notions, and surrendering to the Great Light. Jesus became an international super star not bc he sat on the cross and shed blood for others - zillions of people sat on the cross and shed blood for others and produced no change.... - but bc he TRANSFORMED INTO LIGHT.... HE DID INNER PROCESS TO RISE UP IN CONSCIOUSNESS.

So forget the organized Christianity. Even Christian archbishop Desmond Tutu in arguments with Dalai Lama claimed that human being / mind cannot be changed. That's total bs, as Jesus himself demonstrated that it IS possible. But Christinity lies about it and says only Jesus can do that and nobody else can bc only Jesus is the son of God. Bologney. So none of us are sons and daughters of God?? Jesus as an older brother demonstrates what all of us CAN do if we keep trying. The story of the cross is a "fast forward story" that takes zillions of years, and meanwhile we have to take small steps.
Jesus was missing for 12 years and he reached enlightment in Tibet, even Indian yogis admit this.
And Tibetan Buddhism is "a cookbook of recipes" a very organized simple-to-understand precise immensely helpful effective instruction how to relatively fast change your being and your mind and keep transforming yourself in a consistent way, until one day... you become like Jesus (that day is NOT going to be soon lol but keep going!!!).
AND THIS TEACHING IS RIGHT THERE NEXT TO CHINA, and China is trying to kill it, because it would totally undermine the oppressive Chinese government.

Chinese are gloomy and heavy, and Tibetans smile.

So I PRAY THAT CHINA TRANSITIONS INTO AN ERA OF MORE LIGHT AND PEACE
and that they allow Tibet to exist as is as Tibetans are the key holders of spiritual knowledge on Earth - plus some yogis etc from India
In the best situation, Tibetan knowledge would spread into China

and we will know when it happens because cdramas will have that feeling, it cannot be fabricated
One thing that cannot be fabricated is that sense of lightness and humor and joy

Watch Dalai Lama or Tibetans for a few seconds and you will know exactly what that feels and looks like - it is SMILES and RADIANT SOFT GLOW

The same thing as Study Group or Weak Hero Class 1,2 etc.... fighting violence with violence.

School violence, bad distant parents, broken families, nuclear families and abandoned lost kids without any positive adult guidance is a problem, globally, and it is good that some art tries to call attention to children's and teenagers' and young adults' needs, .....
But... with all due respect.. there is a flood of fight dramas now and such "art" will not solve the problem but make it worse.... it promotes fighting as "fun" and promotes solving violence by applying violence.

Esp the ML in this drama gets addicted to fighting and thinks he is a great person fighting against bad ppl, but in reality, he goes bananas and sooner or later will cause an accident and kill or injure someone. He is an abused kid who vents out all his anger by fighting and beating up other people.

THE SAME OLD SAME OLD.... the root cause of all problems, advertised as the solution.

THE GANGSTA BOYS SEE FIGHTING AS GOOD and try to be the top dog in the violent world.... THEY SEE NO OTHER WAY TO EXIST.
Of course nasty ppl are like that... but also... kids who are gray area and who get beaten to serve the gang lords... AND the entire school is like that.... AND PARENTS .... AND ADULTS ....

The root question is: Why did so many "gray area" kids and even "good" kids turn out like that too.... ? and what is the proper way to solve this?
WHY would anyone organize into these gangs where they get entertained by beating others up... ? WHY would some stupid moron enjoy looking ah so grand by dolling it over others and harming them, "entertaining" others who are trying to kiss the ass of the lead bully... ? WHAT IS ENTERTAINING, OR USEFUL IN THIS KIND OF BEHAVIORS.... ? they are all mentally ill.

THEY ARE ALL MENTALLY ILL.... and then we get to watch them on tv

WHY SHOULD WE WATCH MENTALLY ILL PEOPLE SMASHING THINGS AND PEOPLE?
IS IT ENJOYABLE TO BE WATCHING A PSYCH WARD?????
no it isnt...

This drama has slightly better portrayal of the problems than most in this new flood of fight dramas, and it is good that the ML is not DEAD inside and does think of himself highly enough to deserve to exist .....

but he then ENJOYS fighting as "fun" and the drama is essentially the same thing or even worse than Study Group or Weak Hero seasons 1 and 2...

The same environment: All male school, and lots of fighting, enabled by boys not standing up for each other and by parents and teachers who do NOT care.
The same plot: a very shy boy who becomes a fighter and uses violence to solve the school violence problems.
The same approach - cartoon-like fights where MAGICALLY NOBODY EVER GETS REALLY HURT although they fight and there is blood all over, and they kick into all internal organs and ribs and bones..... All of them should have lost teeth, facial bones, cranial bones, brain damage, rib damage, kidney, spleen, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, intestinal etc damage and should have ended up as Mr. Plankton... but all that is conveniently swept under the rug, glorifying hitting and kicking each other ANYWHERE

The same pathetic tunnelvision reactive crude script - NO communication, NO talking things trough, NO big vision solutions, .... Basically, the script is mostly meaningless and shallow

The same pathetic tunnelvision characters - very closed off, emotionally supressed, dead ppl , who get SOME emotion when they fight

The same idea - that violence is only solved by violence

THE SAME GROSS VIEW OF MALE - DOMINATED ENVIRONMENT -
THE BULLIES BEAT UP VARIOUS BOYS AND **** NO OTHER BOY STEPS IN TO DEFEND THE VICTIM ***** and the parents and teachers could care less.

In short... this type of kdrama is great for perverts, for those who love sex and violence and love to watch pretty boys drenched in blood and bleading and breathing heavily
And this type of drama is great for psychopaths, who love seeing how others get hurt

In short, this type of drama is getting boys ready to enter French Foreign League, or gangsters, or some kind of assassin special forces.
Or at least to become crude brutal dumb corrupt policeman and fight violence with more violence.

In short - this type of drama is a strong advocacy and advertisement for feminism, for a female-dominated environment where things would be solved with kindness and talking things through.
Well not the kind of woman "The Glory" is about LOL she is no better than these... she orchestrated murder on several people. Yeah they deserved it but removing them was done ... in a very gross way.
The Glory contributed positively by showing that women are no less bullies than men, and that the sex partnership between male and female bullies creates even more chaos and suffering and damage

The pluses in comparison between this drama with other dramas of this type:
This one shows more of WHAT THE PARENTS ARE LIKE who created kids like these - we see the bullying that father does to the son, and his medication-addicted useless mother; AND WE SEE HOW THE KID TRIED TO COMMIT SUICIDE . So that is better. THat really helps to understand bullying. Kids never do it just because. They come from homes that create this disorder.

This one unfortunately tries to put together violence and sex - there is the starting video where we see all bloody face of the kid and he is breathing deeply as he listens to music, so it is behavior seen at sexual activity coupled with bloody violence look. Very pervert ready

So imo this is the "Hollywood type" of drama that Netflix and Disney are trying to put on, to essentially make american moves with korean actors and then sell it in the West where the audience IS conditioned to be perverts, they are all so conditioned to watch MOSTLY sex and violence in their entertainment, without ANY meaningful content.

I think this is abuse of kdrama reputation and an artistic fall of kdramas
FOR THE SAKE OF MONEY, getting americans to pay to watch this
And I also think for the sake of runing korean culture and families

bc if S Korea keeps making dramas like these, kdrama reputation will go down AND they will lose their culture
all for the sake of grabbing a few $$$$$$ by making dramas similar to what americans already watch

this type of "art" is really a clever cultural colonization move, counting and enhancing the most vile, the most low, the most primitive impulses in the audience, conditioning the audience to be MEANINGLESS
The script that is shocking, gross, distracting, scandalous, "catchy" bc it is so grossly disgusting.... the meaningless script that DUMBS DOWN THE AUDIENCE

so yeah welcome to america where school shootings are a normal thing and all kids have to practice shooting drills, and where parents are totally absent. It is a miracle if a family has a father at home. THERE ARE PRACTICALLT NO FATHERS LIVING AT HOME IN THE USA. Black ppl are 99% without a father at home, white kids maybe 80% have no father at home and probably 99% in big cities, so only fathers at home are Mexicans, Arabs, Asians and other RECENT immigrants

Also, in the USA, there is a huge epidemic of drug use and everyone uses drugs, from sleeping pills, painkillers, legal pot, all the way to cocaine, crystal meth, extasy, and who knows what else, you just see huge billboards in all big cities about drug epidemic AND ALSO syphilis, Hep C, and AIDS epidemics.

Kdramas do not talk about that bc it is NOT YET prevalent in their culture but ... if they keepmaking and watching this kind of "entertainment" that is where S Korea is going .... there is no other way...

If you want solutions, you would not support this type of art, because this does NOT show the solution, only the demise

Very interesting and educational kdrama but . ... lacks "something"

The drama explores the old concept of "thread of fate" and the new age / yoga / martial arts of aura and energetic cords between people, between chackras and tan tien, etc.
So the series simplifies the concept and makes it "easy to see" red lines between people who have had sex. There is no indication of the quality fo the relationship, just very simple plain count - did you do it and with whom. And then there is a line between you.

So we get to see various cases of use and abuse of those lines.
The acting is quite good. Except FL.
The filming is a little too dark and murky. Needs to be filmed more clearly.

The concept works and is HILLARIOUS bc ML "the good guy" is not really a good guy. He is a murky unethical irresponsible guy, and then has to shape up. Hopefully.
It is good that FL decides on her on to turn a new leaf and be useful.

The drama addresses issues that most psychic people have - being shunned and ostracized and humiliated....

THE MUSIC IS AMAZING!!!! the end credit song is phenomenal jazz piece

It gets really weird and then you realize it WAS weird from the start, bc sex is associated witih VIOLENCE .... the ending is realistic..... ep 6 was weird like modern theater performance. But it lacks... something... it is about VIOLENCE and GUILT and BLOOD and KILLING associated with sexuality.... so .. the whole drama is like some chistian thing. Yeah like it was made by a born again christian or something like that... so much guilt blood and viiolence... DEFINITELY A TWISTED CHRISTIAN CHURCH VIBE
