A nice story about a nice guy next door who happens to be gay

I am straight so I am writing from that perspective, as an outsider observing something new, in this case, the lgbt+ AUDIENCE here, ppl who totally shocked me with their vile comments about this drama. Wow. They want a steamy fast thing in a 100% gay world. Sorry. That's not REAL life and real art. Dont gay ppl have friends who are not gay???? To be honest, I think the grumpy audience are asking for trashy porn. Yeah criticize me but that it the essence of what they are asking for.
I LOVE THIS KDRAMA BC IT IS REAL. IT IS ABOUT MATURING, LOVE, BEING WHO YOU ARE, BEING HONEST, HAVING DREAMS AND GOALS AND MAKING THEM HAPPEN, PUTTING EFFORT INTO YOUR LIFE TO BE HAPPY AND DO WHAT YOU LOVE TO DO. And life is not gay or straight, it is **** diverse **** and underneath, everyone is the same. I will quote another reviewer here who in one sentence, said what this kdrama is about - "Far from being just another of the hundreds of LGBT+-themed productions that are increasingly appearing on television channels and digital media, 'Heesu in Class 2' surprises with a complexity and attention to detail that transcends its genre, with its fresh and emotional take on what it means to find one's own path in the midst of adolescence. "
YEAH and this same recipe holds for ANY stage in life.

The entire plot can be moved on to any age and situation. The fact that the 2 main characters are gay is just one aspect of who they are. But gay or straight, everyone has the same issues of finding their own path and being true to themselves.
Being lgbt+ is a bit more tricky bc ppl can throw stones at you out of disgust, but ... anyone poor, ugly, etc.. gets similar treatment :) For example, any one of those school kids who were bullied... Think of "The Glory" and then tell me, why would a lgbt+ person bitch about mistreatment as if they are the only one being mistreated?

But anyways - I think this drama has perfect pacing and great acting and shows life as it is. ANd it is slow bc it takes time to fall in love, to accept being a gay teenager, to be brave to tell someone you like them, etc. etc etc.

HEE SU GOT SMARTER TOWARDS THE END AND HE TOLD CHUN :) I am waiting to see Chun's reaction.

I loooooove the straight character Summer, she is soooo wise and mature and a wonderful person. I love the friendship between her and SW

. THe first thing that shocked me is that the lgbt+ viewers complained that this is not a BL drama but a straight drama, that there was no relationship development between Hee Su and Seong Won and that Chun and Ji took too much time. IT WAS SHOCKING TO READ THAT. So what is the idea of "relationship" that these people have??? just jumping into kissing right away.... ??? I didnt realize how immature and greedy this audience was.... They wanted to see dates of Hee Su and SW. They didnt want any straight couples. It pissed them off that the original manga wasn't followed and Chun had a girlfriend instead of being gay. They quoted me Love in Big City as an example of a good BL kdrama. I havent watched that yet, I just saw the cover images, it was lots of sexual contact and nudity there, so I was put off by that. And it is not necessary here. Hee Su is 18 years old *kid*. Yeah technically he could make babies but emotionally, he is still a child. Also, even when he makes his sexual debut, he wont be a promiscuous or overzealous individual. He will be a healthy boy next door. I think that is the value of Hee Su's character, he is a decent PERSON who just happens to have a certain preference. His sexual preference is not something he picked. His CHARACTER is something he works for.

To me this kdrama is more about character and generic issues of love in general and people in general rather than some hot steamy BL encounters. And that is why I like this kdrama. I think the actor who does Hee Su is great in his role and Chun and SW and Ji too. They are really acting in realistic ways and the kdrama feels real.

To me, the value of this kdrama is showing a mix, a diversity of people who get along well. I think the potential of this kdrama is to make the lgbt+ ppl more socially acceptable. Hee Su is a really nice kid. All characters are. They are vulnerable, open, honest as much as they muster, often brave, or scared, and making steps forward.

Well except Hee Su. He was brave enough to hang out witih Chun but he was so stagnated there, never making a move forward, ignoring his own inner preferences, scared of societal and Chun's rejection.
THEN WE HAVE SW who openly confeses to his friend Ji, and she doesnt judge him, it was normal, his friend was in love with someone and that someone happened to be male too. That was not a big deal. The big deal is that SW turned out not to be a recluse.

So to me, the value of this kdrama is to show that love is love and people are people.

The value of the straight couple is that it pushed HeeSu into CHANGE. HS was stuck slaving away to adore Chun, and he was a coward. He did NOT plan to confess... he did not plan to make a move... he was scared, he was deeply closeted, and he cheated to keep the status quo. SO NO LOVE WAS POSSIBLE. IN FACT, IT WAS NOT LOVE.
Also SW does not love Hee Su yet. SW is lying to him and praying on him, not saying what his intentions are and who he is. He is a ... stalker LOL it is like having a pet that later turns out to want to eat you. It is unfair to lie to someone and get close to them just for the sake of pouncing on them.
And Hee Su is not ready. He is deeply in the closet, he is using SW for his own self serving interest to keep Chun...

SO ... Hee Su and SW have some growing up to do first before they can date...

is my opinion.

I see plenty of relationship development with Hee Su and SW. At first Hee Su was 100% about Chun and SW was just a little noise. Then SW said hi, asked HS to come to the club, talked to him, waited to go to school, went out to intercept LOL, went out to that coffee shop, ..... ...

The value of the straight couple is that we see that Chun was inspired by honesty of the girl. Chun was bored with stagnation and made a move to GROW.
Hee Su's childish admiration in lying was not inspiring.
Once Chun decided to explore new paths and GROW, HS got forced to do new things, and to meet SW.

Life is like that. Gay and straight realms mix and match in real life. Ppl are one or the other or mix and match. I think the value of this kdrama is to SEE HOW MUCH EASIER it would be for everyone to say up front what they prefer. Most of plots and comedy and hurt of this drama are due to confusion that happened because of hiding and lying adn misunderstandings.

So, from my point of view. I would find it boring and artificial to watch just 2-4 gay gays on dates. I think life is diverse and I think Chun having a girlfriend makes it more interesting, because Chun kinda behaved gay but then the girl inspired him/

And on the personal note: my interaction here was educational. Since I am aware that lgbt+ ppl can experience a heavy harassment, I naively expected that they will be more aware about human condition and deeper finer meanings of life.

I was blamed here as a stupid person because all straight ppl are stupid and dont understand. Unfortunately, the lgbt+ community isnt aware that aids and social prejudice are rampant for straight people too :) Check out syphillis and AIDS and opiates and drugs billboards all over LA, San Fran or NYC.... Every 3rd american has genital herpes... and straight people too fight for social status and acceptance... All women anywhere are a major target of harassment... Any minorities, Natives, brown skin, immigrants, disabled, elderly, .... experience MAJOR MAJOR harassment and societal prejudice. **MAJOR** And of course, the planet Earth itself, so abused. And poor people anywhere. Poor people are actually majority LOL but they are abused more than any minority...

So... if you want some better karma, be nice to others and support other minorities. Which I haven't seen. I have seen only elbowing forward from this group. And it paid off. There are many rich and famous and popular public figures who are lgbt+.

In the usa, so many lgbt+ people are rich and/or famous, they are all over entertainment industry, and all over the public arena, have good jobs, etc, and many vote in very conservative ways and exploit others. Just google "rich and famous lgbt in the USA" and you see links with lists of politicians, billionaires, stars, etc .
I personally have met several sharks who were gay. Not nice at all.

The bottom line is: IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT GROUP YOU BELONG TO.
The only thing that matters is WHAT YOU ARE ON THE INSIDE.
The bottom line is: *****EITHER YOU ARE A JERK OR A NICE PERSON ***** and that is determined on what is INSIDE YOU, your character
JERKS AND GOOD PEOPLE ARE ANYWHERE

if you are straught, you are not automatically evil and dumb, and if you are lgbt+ you are not automatically saintly angelic wise person

SO LET US NOT BLAME ANYTHING ON ANYTHING. if you arent happy, maybe it is not bc of your sexual orientation but bc of your CHARACTER. Wake up and take action. Yeah straight people can be super mean and harmful to lgbt+ but please realize:

****** ANYONE CAN BE MEAN TO ANYONE FOR ANY REASON ****** ppl love to find SOME reason to be mean. So, if you are in some mean environment, then MOVE. Go live in San Francisco, LA or NYC or another big city that provides support. Or somehow change your local environment. If you are a nice person and a hard worker, you WILL find a way to thrive. So do it.

and if you complain that straight people are not nice to lgbt+ ppl, then why be mean to straight people and do EXACTLY what you complain about... ?

I think this is 21st century and it is time to do to others as we wish others do to us. It just makes sense and is a LOT easier, at least in the long run.

A pretty cool thriller rom com

The FL gives it the flavor bc she is sooo cocky :)

The plot is interesting and realistic...

I love the funeral for the pet fish Picasso :) LOL LOL LOL Some details like that show the craziness of the rich... The scenes of the "prostitute" waiting at the corner to be picked up, or violinist on ice... are ... EDUCATIONAL :)

The twist is twisty and until the very end, you dont know who the killer was...

The ML is really handsome and FL actress clearly likes him :)
But he isnt the greatest actor.

and he appears again with the FL lead actress in another drama later ... when he is much heavier and older... what was that drama now... ? I will remember.

As for character growth, this drama is not totally big on it although ML and FL do grow some and adjust to each other

The story is convincing

Masterpiece iconic classic kdrama, warm uplifiting social commentary

This is such a heartwarming kdrama

about two people who need healing who find each other and help each other

It is also about mental health and fobias and issues with people, how we can get scared from relationships.

It is about image and how some ppl look so cool and successful but they still have insecurities

and how it all can be healed with some love and care and compassion

Masterpiece fairy tale

This drama is really about games people play, stealing energy from each other. Stealing by sex is the easiest. people cannot resist giving attention and/or body to anyone who coddles them, so ... various predators abuse that.

So gumiho is basically an immature person who lives by the above theft.

FL actress perfect acts a college student brat

ML is scary spookey with that spookey creepy smile so he is a perfect gumiho

Masterpice iconic kdrama about coming of age and college years

This kdrama covers 3 "lifestyles" and issues and is a masterful piece of education and support for young adults.

The three women are so different and each one tries romance in her own way
and it turns out that the virgin is the smartest. She waited patiently UNTIL she found Mr Right or shall I say he found her

and how they got together is most endearing and mature conversation and most clear and practical self-talk beforehand. YOU TRULY LEARN ABOUT SELF RESPECT AND SELF LOVE AND CLEAR BOUNDARIES WITH OTHERS AND WHAT LOVE REALLY IS

Highly recommended

It started great and fun, and then went downhil and disappeared

It looked hopeful when it started, the FL was competent

But then ... the script got lousy and the whole drama just went downhill and disappeared into nothing....
I just remember being frustrated... The plot lost meaning and it was just wheel-spinning-in-place, just churning for 16 episodes to get it over with

Creepy Scary study in childhood trauma and mental illness

I am not into creepy but I wanted to watch this kdrama because it is an iconic classic and also because I thought it will help me understand abused children and how they turn calous and heartless and also I wanted to understand a little bit more about psychopaths. I am dealing with organized crime trying to steal my apartment via the corrupt court system in Hawaii. So... I watched this.

This kdrama is TERRIFYING. The concepts are TERRIFYING. It is about killers who enjoy killing, their families, and how their killings impacted their children and families.

The moral of the story is that a child subject to extreme abuse will likely grow to be a very closed off adult. It's Ok not to be OK and this kdrama both have a parent killer who trains a child to be a killer. Also, Quen of Tears is another drama where parent hates the child. The child goes basically insane and becomes heartless.

The interesting part in those dramas is that, if a child receives SOME love from somewhere, or is somehow strong enough, the child will not become a criminal and will have a relatively normal life. HOWEVER, so far we did not see a child who escaped severe mental and emotional damage. Well. bc this is dramas so we need a child with problems LOL but still. Chances of being 100% normal are almost zero.

So these kdramas explain children on drugs, trouble, becoming navy seals, assassins, criminals, etc etc etc Children just get swayed and shut down by their parents and their moral, mental and emotional compass STOPS. The worse the parent, the worse the child, seems like.
And yeah some bad kids already have those tendencies like the serial killer #2 and his family from this kdrama.

This kdrama asks a very fundamental question: if the serial killer #2 did not meet the serial killer #1 when he was a child, WOULD he have gone off the deep end? He already had tendencies... as a child, he killed a dog and then lied about it... so ... he would have had done something bad somewhere along the lines... ? would he? sooner or later.. ? but then he ran into the adult serial killer, who took him and trained him. Finally the kid killed the adult... LOL

I do not need to understand these people. I just need to understand how to keep myself protected and them far away from me.

Lee Gang Ji is masterfully acting as a child of a monster, a father who turned his son into such a hearthless child who then learns to defrost and love because his wife loves him. HE becomes a good parent.

The actor who did the father is now Silla CEO in drama "For eagle brothers" and at first I was shuddering every time I saw him, remembering his role in this drama. He was SCARY. Extremely convincingly SCARY. We never saw him DO anything... but we saw hm stand there as a ghost egging his son to kill... and we saw the cages he built hinting at what he did... and we saw clips of him talking about his "art of killing" - so that dude was SUPER SCARY TERRIFYIING. This drama also shows what he was doing and that was scary too. It is a deep dive into showing what mentally ill people do.

So to meet him again as Silla dad in "For Eagle Brothers" was ... unpleasant LOL he is a villain there too ... but more in the white collar crime arena.

I think the spooky part is the parents of the other serial killer, parents who kept lying on behalf of their son, and son serial killer for enjoyment, who did not kill his father and mother. And we learn his father is essentially a killer himself, just camouflaged as a hospital director...

The woman who loved Lee Gang Ji;s character is also a tricky role bc he came NOT to believe him and bc of it, he lost his memory... good thing so they could start from scratch. I AM NOT SURE WHAT OTHER PLOT OR ENDING IT COULD HAVE BEEN, everything was just too crazy and not easily fixable. I cannot imagine a plot with rosey easy overcoming...

Interesting to watch the ex-gangster

The ML is an ex-convict and he and other convicts have a company and he is the boss

He is really sweet. His dress style is like Matrix.... and his voice is so... distinct... raspy... serious... profound things he says ... he is like a ... kung fu master parody...

FL is .. well.. over the top stupid rash female chicky chick, doing stupid things. I did not enjoy watching her EXCEPT for her skit on caterpillars. he acted a caterpillar. That was sooo cool!!!

Intriguing lesson on karma and reincarnation

This is one of the series I watched that I do not remember much of because the content was too generic.

However, I remember the karma lesson and one important thing about reincarnation - you are NOT the same person and one edition of "you" has nothing to do with the other edition of "you"

So when you fall in love with someone, you are falling with THAT edition of them. Park traveled in time and she picked to pair with the guy from 21st century.

Masterpiece iconic drama - creative fun

ML is an alien and that is conjured with just his perfect hairdo and stiff body always dressed in black.

FL is too ... hysterical, irrational, off the handle, loser chicky chick - the makeup the clothes etc etc etc So I did not like that role much

The comical and scary moment abound :)

A sobering lesson on karma and healing

Mr. Plankton died at the end. BUT it is the best end he COULD have had, since his karma was so bad and he never overcame it,

so at the very end of his life, when he was forced to, he tried to clean up his life trauma. HE TRIED TO THE BEST OF HIS ABILITY

he was a very immature and wounded person so his "best" was still quite disfunctional.... He refused to listen.... Looking good and strong on the outside, on the inside, he was ... broken ... and not working hard enough to put himself back. He did not love himself enough to really really really really really TRY.

This movie is horrifying, sad, and very sobering REALITY CHECK because it shows you to your face what happens when you refuse to clean up your past.

Mr Plankton did not try hard enough to change, and there were consequences.

Mr Plankton was not ready to take in good life. He took a crumb, bc that's all he could handle, and then died from his inability to hang onto his happiness

HE WENT AS FAR AS HE COULD HAVE. So yeah he died in peace.

HE NEVER DID THE INNER WORK TO TEACH HIMSELF THAT HE CAN LOVE HIMSELF AND BE HAPPY AND THUS MAKE HIS HAPPINESS POSSIBLE AND **** LIVE ***** like that

The side character of FL's boyfriend is fun and interesting during the drama, but ... after all this time, i remember only Mr Plankton. Bc he was so genuinely SAD, deeply sad inside him.... Sad, unloved, shaken, scared, abandoned, alone..... although he wasnt really. He found ppl to love him and acted nice to some but he himself wasn't opening to loving himself... . and thus was quite cruel to others, unintentionally

Very sad, tragic story of what happens when you dont clean up your shi%

Masterpice psychological drama

This drama dives into the complacency and sleaziness of "comfort love."

FL got burned with her first love, ML, so out of confort, she grabs the second ML and dates him in super slimey ways... SUPER slimey. They never communicate and they lie to each other and make deals to stay complacent and never rock the boat. Both of them are evil cowards...

And then the ML shows up and busts them :)

I just feel sorry that FL never fully grew up. The drama leaves at the point where she decided she might try inner work to get back her ex, but then... even for that she did not put in enough effort.

THE DRAMA SHOWS PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAPS AND GAMES AS IF UNDER A MAGNIFYING GLASS. I learned a lot from this kdrama. You get to study and dissect narcissism etc as well as good communications and "get it done" attitude

Masterpiece Classic.

Family dramas are long because they involve many characters and relationships and take the time to show development and character growth. So to me, family dramas ROCK IT!!! I love them. I also love multigenerational characters and family life, with sit-down home-made dinners, etc. I am a huge family drama fan. And they are sort of dying breed and it is hard to find new ones that are good.

So this kdrama is one of those iconic kdramas.

I still remember the Lawyer Daughter character, she is one of the very few female characters in kdramas that is confident, competent and successful. She is a great role model.

Her sister Mi Yong drove me bananas bc she is EXACTLY the chicky chick that men love and then ditch. And yeah in real life that actress and the actor who acted her boyfriend "fell in love" and split shortly after.
The chicky chick scared quiet rather dumb "woman" who requires babysitting...

So lovely! A masterpiece kdrama - mix of cute, sad, happy, harsh, and warm

You have to watch it to see what a real kdrama looks like :)

The cast is amazing

The story is great and is told so well, we get insight into their lives ....

And yeah this is not for some snotty brats with money and expensive cell phones and brand name clothing :) This drama is RAW, ral life, RAW TO THE BONE, survival - within your family, within society, within the bounds that are called your life circumstances.

This drama is just CUTE AND ALIVE . There is so much hardship and suffering - some people are from poor families and/or disfuctional families some are rich but from disfuctional families, and everyone is STRIVING to move on and live better and be happy.

King from MrQueen is here too and he brought instant comedy and aliveness, just a few seconds on screen....

FL is from Itewon Class and 9 Puzzles but here she is a cute insecure and poor good girl from family that basically sacrificed her so that her brother can attend college. She works sooo hard. Can hardly wait to see her grow up and grab the dude.

The dude is a hot dude and we find him boxing :) but hopefully he turns his life around.

This drama will disappoint all consumers and shallow people who love STUFF and glitzy plot with glam ppl. There is no glam here. THere is only some REAL HUMANS
