Fun and educational
I love this kdrama. It was really fun and really educational. Acting was great, EXCEPT by the FL, she wasnt all that great. Also, her character was not written too well. She was very nice with the kid etc but in her life she was a total coward and never made any decision rationally. Weak character. She was lucky her condo didnt sell. The divorce lawyer and the Friend nearby and her sister from NYC took the attention with better acting.
Some of the funniest scenes are yaksuri (shaman)
Some of the funniest scenes is how the Lawyer is filmed sideways as he chews his lunch and overhears the conversation between FL and predator
etc
The reality of the scenes, e.g the sister exercising with some tape
The Friend Nearby was so fun, such a great actress... HOW she said "yaksuri!!!"
and her kids and husband.. the remote viewer on the robot LOL
SMALL DETAILS LIKE THAT make it real, make you remember them

Starts fluffy and shallow but it ends as a deep, warm, mature love and relationship
People wonder why I gave 10 to this kdrama. If you are not smart enough to see it :) This drama is about a "new world" where differences are handled without prejudice and the genders are equal. The ML and FL are **** E Q U A L ****. She is not a loser, she is competent, and THEY COMMUNICATE. THEY ARE A FUNCTIONAL HEALTHY PAIR THAT WILL HAVE A LOVING PRODUCTIVE HAPPY RELATIONSHIP ALL THEIR LIVES. I think this kdrama is a pioneer.
The first episodes made me think this was just a fluffy rom-com for youngsters full of hormones. Like sneaking up on him to see his naked back with a tattoo etc. I was like ... omg I think Neflix is ruining kdramas.... ok.... I will just sleep through this... I was using the drama to destress from some ugly legal stuff, so my expectations werent high... The drama has an upbeat vibe bc ML and FL are very rational, adult, responsible characters although they are in their 30s so I watched because I was benefiting from that positive vibe. I am also a fan of the ML actor bc of Twinkling Watermallon, and FL is not a loser, she is highly capable, so I kept watching...
So at the very start, ML and FL were fighting against their own feelings in ways that were ... well... boring :) But ... there was no needless drama. ! I liked that. ML and FL are smart people and did not waste time and very quickly realized they liked each other and went along with it. They are smart and know it is necessary to hold onto your dream to make it happen. They are go-getters. That was fun to watch but still not quite it.
Then they had to resolve a conflict based on their animosity and hatred for each from the past. That was not quite fun to watch either but was getting more interesting. THEN the drama very sneakily took the turn to raise the curtain and for us the audience to watch behind the scenes and see MORE, and to see how it all fits together perfectly.
SUDDENLY we got to see the strength and the depth of ML and FL as individuals and as two lovers committed to each other. That was really impressive.
So everything that looked fluffy and over-the-top exaggerated and shallow, suddenly became a piece in a very nice looking overall picture. The two of them MATCHED with their personality and traits and ways of doing things, and were there for each other. THEY COMMUNICATED CLEARLY. They were committed.
So this drama ends on a note that is deeply satisfying, a very warm, solid, reliable relationship, human and humane note, and a lifelong love in a very positive, solid, reliable, sophisticated, mature way. By the end of the kdrama, ML and FL demonstrated HOW you can achieve it. Both were bossy and perfectionists, and both understood the deeper requirements of human condition and relationships, and both took steps to make it happen. They had arguments and fallouts and always cleared it out and came back together ON THEIR OWN. THis kdrama is not about them meeting by chance somewhere or friends rehooking them. EVerything good that happened in their relationship, happened bc ML and FL were mature enough to think it through , self observe, self correct, and step forward towards the other to fix the mess they caused. IT was very inspiring and positive.
THe underlying story is about accepting ourselves and living our life as we are, creating good karma, and about having loving clear productive family and personal relationships.
So that message that it is possible to pull it off if you try, properly :) and clearly, and bravely, was the message that was so powerful and so warm and educational. I started watching this bc there was nothing else to watch on Mon/Tue/Wed and it was boring at first but by the end, I felt good about watching it. IT LEFT A WARM FEELING IN MY HEART. It showed what is possible if you try properly.
Imo the key was the FL character. She was no-nonsense and relatively mature enough to see what was important, and to ACT on the important stuff before it was too late.
For me the breaking point was when the FL was talking to the evil Grandma and told her that this was not about who is the successor but is about the family of her love, how to keep his family.
As for the ML, his character is complex but the script did not leave room to show him as a complex person. The filmmaker made ML role so flat, always stiff, pompous and kinda grumpy and poker faced, so that really did not show even 0.5% of the actor's ability and made ML boring to watch. Some of his funnest scenes in this kdrama is when he gets kicked out and cooks, etc. I think the drama had to show him more in his HUMAN state, not just cheabol-idol-perfect-successor fake ACTING state. The drama forgot to mention how the ML character acted tough for his cheabol job and how different he was in his normal life. Not at concerts but when he was cooking, etc.
I saw the ML actor in "Twinkling Watermellon" one of the best scenes is when he communicates with the guitar player at the start of their first concert. Also, in My Dearest Nemesis, he had just a few moments where it seems like he ran wild and did not listen to whoever was filming him, and showed some of his fun, flirty, romantic, and charming side.
SO he can act a wide range and for some reason some bozos always put him in rough dumb flat shallow roles. Like Weak Hero Class 1.
I guess filmmakers are scared to lose money so they put an actor in a role he already did well at least once before. Like putting Meg Ryan ONLY in romantic comedies.... But that really messes up the filming and drama. It is boring. I cant even distinguish between Meg Ryan's films, they are all the same thing.
You need to milk the actors for all they got.
Well I understand you have to make money off dramas too so perhaps it is easier to recycle actors in the types of roles they already did...especially if the actor is not capable of acting anything else LOL there are those.... !!!!
But it is better to let the actor show more acting. Imo.

Interesting villans and good ppl and Lee Joon Jae in a good guy role
This drama is nothing specialbut ok
the villain is worth watching. The mom of the teenage dad...
They recycled her somewhat in Young Lady and Gentleman
She is a MASTERFUL villain
and also Lee Joon Jae is acting a good guy role, love of Mi So and he is super good at that.
And actress Do Mi Sol is super pretty :)

This is a KOREAN movie, not Chinese. And yeah it is a masterpiece, It is fun
This is a fun and heartwarming movieabout a Korean single mother who made a baby from a sperm donor,
and later the kid found out the donor was from somewhre near Hong Kong
and went to look for him
and then the mom and dad got together in drama real life LOL
bc.... his Chinese grandma wanted the boy :) this is a real issue in China... they always value male children.... . So suddenly the family had this boy ... and the grandma worked hard to force the dad to get together with the mom, just so the Chinese family would have a male grandchild
and another trope, since Chinese grandma has a lot of clout in a chinese family bc of her age... the grandma was able to pull it all off LOL
she was a wealtht grandma so she could buy her way around too, like making sure there was no airplane tickets LOL
The Chinese grandma basically saw that her only grandson was playing hookey and would NEVER marry or settle down and then this smart great grandson showed up and Grandma seized the opportunity to rope her grandson :)
and she was super wise about it... she never forced anything. She provided plenty of opportunities and then it became clear that there was something there between mom and dad, so.... things happened naturally
Granma was a master gardener
Chinese government censored this and prevented it from showing at a festival

This is just fun. The translation is the classic kdrama masterpiece comedy
This kdrama is not terribly brainyit is all gangster life, but told from the point of humor
The scenes where the translator chooses different translations are the CLASSIC most hillarious scenes ever
So this is one of those movies you watch when you want to just turn off your brain and LAUGH

So fun! a classic masterpiece
This is imo one of the classic masterpieces of kdramas. The young ML acting the gangster in a young body is super extra good. Omg that actor is HILLARIOUS, he totally nailed down gangster behavior and it is so HILLARIOUS with his baby face lol Omg it is so funny.
He has more trouble acting love :)
the other ML is great as usual, i like all his roles I have seen so far, he is really a great actor

Cute and positive boy sports story
It is a very "boys sports" storythe story itself is a pretty good story, sometimes slow or a little cheesy but nicely moving along. The acting isnt bad, The adult actor is a seasoned pro and his acting pulls up the acting of the youngsters. He was in Man to Man so he is all good acting macho men who join forces with other men in friendship and teamwork, he is very charming or nasty, as needed :)
The youngster actors are not bad, actually they are acting pretty well.
The music isnt quite the zap it needs to be... it is not a perfect match.
It is just that overall the vibe of tis kdrama is not pumped up but more mellow, we are basically watching the daily interactions of a bunch of very young athletes. Most ppl in this kdrama are super young male basketball players and a male high school student.
Perhaps how it was filmed made it a little choppy? somehow scenes do not follow quiiiite smoothly. I am sure the filmmakers will improve that.
The only adult is the Coach, more or less, and the only females are Coach's wife and daughter and yeah one hater, and we see them soooo rarely. It is definitely a macho drama about "a boys' network".
Coach's wife is in 2 other dramas currently airing: here, a mostly-villain in For Eagle Brothers, and a quirky assistant in Second Shot at Love. So, by now I watched so many videos of her.... I am IMPRESSED that all 3 roles are very different, fundamentally. and SHE ACTS THEM DIFFERENTLY, clearly, it is 3 different people. Two of those roles are the mother with a daughter, and one is a personal assistant / caretaker of a young doctor. That actress truely can act.

Cheesy way to diss plastic surgery AND advertise it at the same time
I would have given more stars if this didnt advertise plastic surgery. So the drama really shows the bad side of the plastic surgery, in a very fun comical way - the woman is pretty and attracts attention BUT you cannot kiss her, squeeze her, etc. bc everything is plastic and hurts or breaks LOL
I love that message :)
So she is just for the looks, from afar :) AND she gets a lot of attention for it.
That part is awful, bc she DID get lots of attention and became someone JUST BC OF PLASTIC SURGERY
The drama didnt send her exercising ......

My politically incorrect opinion is that this drama has rosey glasses on
FL was amazing actress, acting with such detail, e.g. coming into a room. BUT she got cocky by the end and you could see the glee in her eyes HEY LOOK I DID IT YAY AM I NOT GREAT??So I think this kdrma has some good messages and also some super thick rosey glasses.
Common, that handsome straight dude who fell in love with the woman who didnt allow him to touch her. The actor looked majorly pissed in the drama...
And glorifying and hiding the bad stuff lawyers do...
I was pissed off that Attorney Woo thought how to make the monastery lose their income. That was rotten.

An interesting BL spin on the trope of cold shark and irrational loser
"rational cool cold closed-hearted shark and irrational loser with a dream"In this case, the rash reactive loser character is a male. In most kdramas it is the FL. Then ML saves that loser.
That happened here too.
It turned out to be a nice love story as they both healed each other
Just like in regular kdramas - the closed of corporate shark male gets melted with the love of the rash illogical reactive loser female, and she gets slightly stronger and with more IQ
THAT ALL HAPPENED HERE TOO...

Had lots of potential and .... turned into a mush
The story makes sense, and actors are not bad, so I am not sure where it went wrong and kinda died before it had a chance to bloom.Perhaps the story did not flow evenly, or was filmed with the wrong energy
Instead of being more "full of light" the story has suffering notes, needlessly as the FL is a flawed character causing trouble with her egotism and pride and rashness and honestly - cruelty
The story is filmed in this BLAND BLAH energy but also energy of ANIMOSITY AND FIGHTS and it is tiring to watch
ML is a really solid guy and his story is interesting. However, I remember FL more, bc the actress was so full of energy - unfortinately bad energy, she was cronically angry and bitter and prickly towards others
I just did no enjoy this kdrama much Waited for it to get better and it didnt

Cute and bubbly and inspirational - but ... fluffy shalow
I watched this long time ago and I do not remember the details, but only what stuck to me.The acting of that 2nd ML made it fun bc he was always into antics
FL was a clutz so she was rather boring and frustrating to watch.... by default, the "loser" irrational women are boring to watch....
however somehow only her image stuck in my head from that kdrama, which means that she acted very well. I think what was impressive is letting her friend run out of steam on pursuing the guy... ? Or how hard she tried to do well at her job? I am not sure why I remember that actress in that role. There must be something genuine in her acting and/or script.

A sloooow burn drama.....
This drama is kinda Ingrid Bergman style, lots of face shots and long pauses.... it goes slooooowly.... and the actors are not very animated for most part, there is lots of strife and depression and grief...it paints not a pretty picture of entertainment industry.. the competiton,,,, the greed... the politics... the money the power the GAME ....
and how to survive and thrive if you are an artist with baggage..
And the final message is pretty inspiring.
Warning: there is no romance in this kdrama . The focus is healing the ML and getting him to become a successful professional artist (by providing a stable family environment)

Two grownups acting as middle school kids
The start was SUPER immatureand it stayed like that for a long time
maybe only at the end it got better?
ML actor clearly did not care one iota about the FL actress, did not find her atttractive there was no chemistry
and FL role was STUPID
She was beating the guy a lot
I think this is one of those trashy rom coms

Eeek... very very mild to the point of bland...
The Japanese boyfriend was sooo polite and reserved and A PASSIVE COWARD that the story just lacked the fire. They just never communicated. Then he wasnt smart enough to understand what she wanted. He thought she was lonely. It never occured to him that it is GOOD MANNERS to call his lady to tell her he will be late to work. It was such a disappointing character flaw that the drama never fixed.
