so me mentioning and knowing what exactly happened in the movie in detail like Pildu green zone going to where KDJ is standing for no reason, means i haven't watched it ??? Additionally, the budget is sufficient to make this film good. Consider Space Sweepers, a movie that relies more heavily on CGI, despite having a lower budget than ORV and being made years ago, still looks good (to the point that some say its CGI is hollywood-level) and is a good movie or "Along with the Gods" made by the same Producer with a lower budget and similar CGI usage (I personoally didn't vibe with the movie but it seems to be well regarded overall). Let's be honest here, they blew their budget on the cast, this didn't need this much of a star-studded cast for this to be a good movie

hey guys! i havent read the novel/webtoon yet and i noticed most of the bad reviews here are mostly because the…
scroll down like 5 comments, i listed a bunch of problems this movie has without comparing it to the novel and objectively seeing it just as a stand-alone movie which are tagged as spoilers. If u dont wanna read it just know the Visual and cinematography sucks and from what i watched there are a lot of things happening in the movie with no explanation or clear reasoning whatsoever. They happen just to keep the plot moving forward and to make things "exciting"

There you go a bunch of problems with the movie without comparing it to the novel since you said that the ONLY thing OG Fans got to complain is the changes. I didn't talk about CGI or Cinematography cuz we all know it just sucks. There's more I can probably think of but I only got 30 min to write all this. You can choose to ignore everything I said or you (anybody) can refute them. If you choose the former, I'll just assume that ur just a die-hard fan of one of the actors and can't accept the film actually sucks and ur opinion is just biased cuz "a fun good movie" does not constitute as a solid 8.5. You even contradict urself, a rushed plot for a movie is always not good, however you try and spin it, and is definitely not something you can expect from a "solid 8.5" movie. Also if it was the case that it wasa good movie, word of mouth would have been good from those who have nto raed the novel and more people would have gone and watched it for themselves given the star-studded cast and hype it got it korea, yet it has been sitting at less than 10k admission per day after a week of being released.

8. Let's talk about the inconsistencies/minor issues:

a.) What constitutes as getting injured and getting blood vs coins? We know that only humans drop coins if killed and monster jsut add coins automatically
a.1.) We know for humans they just spray coins if they are killed so in the fight with Heewon we see a lot of this happening, even if they are slashed in the feet which shouldn't kill them instantly and Heewon's weapon atp got blood all over it for some reason adn we don't see anybody she was fighting bleeding (note that these are new weapons they just got from killing the rat warden). For the congressman, he was the only one who got his blood splattered after being shot in the head, we know he is still part human as coins poured out.
a.2.) For monster we know there blood from their fight with the rats, yet with the warden rat when slashed it was just light and it just disappeared and with the fire dragon no blood at all (was it a machine???)

b.) A single point of strength gave KDJ superhuman abilities, he literally punched Namwoon multiple meters (also he read the novel and absolutely has no idea of Namwoon personality for some reason). With all the coins he has gathered throughout the movie, he can easily reach lvl 100 on all stats and become so overpowered, lvl 10 is definitely not the limit as we see that even though KDJ has reached lvl 10 on most of his stat, Bihyeong still warns he is no match for YJH and his overpowered stats. Yet he gave 100k to pildu for no reason at all, when he could have just invested all those to his stat and single handedly kill every rat there. Speaking of 100k, the constellations just gave that to him as a donation, very convenient. Also these donations is something KDJ used as a bargaining power with Bihyeong inside the stomach, as with the donation that Bihyeong receives, Bihyeong can use the coins and rise in ranks, yet he was easily willing to give all those coins to KDJ just because he asked? wuttt

c.) The illusionary prison, KDJ having read the novel knows how deadly this skill is. Once your caught you will die, Yet this never happens. For Heewon, she got caught for a brief moment then KDJ literally ripped the hands using only his hand, yet for Hyunsung KDJ swung his weapon and got bounced off and only broke after killing the warden?? what's the difference, its not like his trauma is worse than Heewon being left to die. In the case of KDJ, no one broke the prison for him, sooooooo why didn't he die, YJH even came to that dream and insulted him and for some reason he just woke up. YSA skills wasn't even established to heal psychological wounds and can only heal physical wounds. We just doing whatever get the plot moving now??

d.) So once YJH dies, everything just vanishes. So are the constellations just letting this happen or do they not get affected by it? The former is the more believable one cuz his "regression" is a skill and is established to be a skill pretty early in the movie and we know that skills are given by sponsor/constellations, so this implies somebody is sponsoring YJH and gave him that skills and since he retains all his skills, and his sponsor is always the same and is aware of his regressions. If this is correct, are the other constellations just letting all this happen? If it's the latter, then is YJH sponsor just so strong that he can essentially just let other constellations disappear. [This is the only time I will compare it to the novel cuz i jsut can't comprehend this plot] This was never an issue in the source cuz the world still continues even if YJH dies, so even if YJH sponsor was so powerful, it still can't exert that much prowess that it can let the other constellation just vanish.

e.)Imma just say this, I don't care about anybody's acting performance because no actor can make the script look good but Jisoo is literally the worst choice to cast here. Not because of anything regarding her acting or the issue fans had with the change of her character, but solely because it's very clear she had no time to film anything. Out of all the scenes she was in, she had ONE interaction with anybody from the main cast (by that I mean we see them both in one frame), the one where KDJ was convincing her to help him. Every other scene was just her either perched up somewhere sniping or by herself, and just them editing it as if she's talking with anybody when its clearly shot in two different days. No hate to Jisoo but they definitely just cast her to bring her fans to watch this pile of mess

7. Speaking of the final battle, YJH definitely knows he will die if he breaks the shell, why would he risk dying and regressing just to test KDJ. He could have easily just made the Fire Dragon unable to fight and let somebody break the shell as he did in his previous regressions, he was overpowering it and he has not even sustain a single injury so why the desperate move? Remember, the only reason why YJH is interested with KDJ is out of all his many regressions, this regression was very unique as this is the only time he met KDJ and his "prophet" ability. Why would he risk regressing and the possibility of KDJ not being there? Even if he let KDJ break the shell, YJH should have the knowledge about the reward of killing the fire dragon and he can just revive KDJ. There is absolutely no stakes here if you jsut think about it. YJH just needs to make somebody (Heewon, LJH, Hyunsung, ANYBODY AT ALL) break the shell and just revive them without any repercussions. Now let's talk about how this fight resolve, KDJ exchanged the nuclues he got early in the film with Ether of Faith and made an overpowered sword. Here's a question? Who the hell got that item to be traded? It's established that its impossible to find that in the early scenarios and the only reason he got the nucleus is cuz he read the novel.

6. Don't even get me started with fight choreography. 90% of fight scenes are janky with so much close ups and just weapons passing through a CGI mosnter without the CGI monster having visible cuts. Fights with humans are even worse as its very obvious none of the weapons are connecting, they covered this by having some light effects or some janky camera work. Them "flying" around is so funny looking, its so obvious with how they look that they are in some type of harness, especially in that final battle with a bunch of them just floating.

5. The green zone with pildu... So the stake here is that the constellations/Dokkaebi is angry that KDJ and crew survived without a green zone (which should have been impossible to begin with), KDJ survived because he literally got protected by the "ghost hands" so the rats can't get to him, which made his crew fighting to protect him not even make sense. Also how did they know he is not able get a green zone when they are literally at opposite ends of the tracks, and how were they able to get through the hundreds of rats pouring out of the teleporter they were close by??? After this KDJ went to convince pildu and for some reason the green zone changed to where he was. How did this happen? It is impossible for Bihyeong to have done this cuz he was not in charge of this area, a Dokkaebi of a higher rank than he is was. It definitely not because he had 100k, at 1st I thought it was because he used all that to change the zone, but its not, He gave the 100k to pildu after this. If Bihyeong was the one responsible for this happening, can any Dokkaebi just influence a scenario even if somebody of higher rank is in charge without repercussions.

4. Let's talk about skills. First we know that KDJ doesn't have any skills at all and that sponsors are the one who gives skills. They don't give us any explanation about what each skills does exactly. YSA skills is stupid overpowered, she can heal, she can make solid ground with her threads, LHS is just some type of power boost + defensive shield, gilyoung can control animals, pretty simple right. What about Heewon, her sponsor is called Demonic Judge of Fire and gave her the skill "Time of Judgement", what exactly does this do, is it just a boost of speed and swordmanship(?) for a pretty badass name, its effect seems lame af [i know what it does in the novel but here its never explained], its one of the very few skills we actually the name know of. Then there is YJH "Lie Detection", we see him constantly use this with KDJ to see if he is telling the truth for EVERY SINGLE THING HE IS SAYING, but conveniently just chooses not to use it when KDJ said he has a skill called Prophecy (its a lie and he absolutely does not as he is without a sponsor).

3. Now, for the station scenario, they tell us each station has its own scenario. For guemho its the 100 coins per day until u kill every monster. The twist here is that the congressman is also considered a monster so even when they cleared every monster in the tracks, they won't be able to clear it. So when the congressman tried to escape (btw that chase scene was goofy af with their sped up effects) and managed to pass through the barrier, our cast can't kill him cuz they can't pass through it as they haven't cleared their scenario yet. This poses a huge problem, does this mean that even if a single "rat" monster they were fighting passes through the barrier, it becomes impossible to clear it? You can say, "oh the monster can't get through the barrier so its fine" but that just doesn't make sense. The congressman is able to pass through because he is a monster and not a human. Also, what was LJH doing in that place to begin with, was she just chilling at the edge of her scenario zone? after LJH killed him the cast cleared their scenario and was unable to get back to their own station..... For what reason exactly? why did they get put into another Main scenario of another station when they already cleared theirs.. Pretty stupid if you ask me.

2. Let's talk about the sponsor. KDJ tells us that although sponsor gives a lot of advantage, there's a price to pay at the end. Whatever that price is something we don't know, but its enough for him as a reader to not pick anybody which means that it should be a heavy price that for him the disadvantage outweighs the advantages. We also knows that KDJ wants to save as many people as possible especially those close with him, so why the hell would he not warn YSA and just let her pick a sponsor. So is the sponsor "payment" not that high? So why not pick a sponsor then.... Also what made Kim Namwoon so special that he received sponsorship way before everybody else, They show us that the reward for clearing the first scenario is the ability to gain a sponsor.....So are there just no rules to this?

You got to be kidding me if you rate it that high...

Ok i will tell you everything wrong with this movie.. Note that I everything I say is with the MINDSET THAT ITS A STAND-ALONE MOVIE, This is long so I'll divide it:

1. We establish that KDJ knows the novel and pretty much has memorized its contents, the scenario started. We are also told YJH can regress and has done so multiple times in the novel that KDJ read. So now here the question... How does KDJ knows that in this specific regression YJH dies in the fight with the fire dragon, we were never told the reason. The novel KDJ read started when YJH didn't have anything (skills, weapons, etc). This ver of YJH definitely had multiple regression atp, the reason for that is when YJH asked KDJ "Do you know why humans are being punished?" This implies that this version of YJH has already reached far enough to get the answer to that question and definitely has already killed the fire dragon multiple times.Another reason is that after KDJ escape the Ichthyosaurs, Bihyeong warned him to stay away from YJH saying "he has a lot of items and his level is off the chart" and that dream sequence with KDJ. Definitely, not somebody who never cleared the first 3 scenarios. So everything from the beginning already contradicts itself and there's no stakes atp since YJH should already know how to clear the fire dragon without dying.

even after having bottom rock expectations for this film, it still went downhill beyond expectations. anyway,…
I'll just add something that really bothered me throughout the film... NOBODY EVER BLEEDS.. Yeah, you see them have some wounds, but you never see the source of the injury; it felt like they just added SMALL wounds/cuts in their faces in certain scenes to show the progression/time of the fights (never see them get injured while fighting in real time). They established that dying from a slash/gunshot will just spray coins instead of blood, yet for a single dude, the one LJH shot, they show splattered blood from the headshot. You see, their weapons get covered in blood, yet nobody has a single blood flowing out of their body. Weapons don't even touch anybody (unless it's against CGI monsters), either it's just a gust of wind or some light effects.

%37 on rotten tomatoes , although it's high for this shi , but even critics know how bad it's .
popcornmeter (The 37%) is audience rating while tomatometer is "critics" rating. Not enough critics even watched this flop of a movie. The rating is higher cuz like in mdl actor fans are rating it 5/5 just to support them

This is shit I was defending this movie but I get why people are mad the director is so sooooooooo st*p*d that…
LMAOOOO. They read the source and thought "Hmmm, ok let's do the exact opposite". I don't honestly mind if they changed some things as long as it's compelling and still in line with the story/character, but they just completely dismantled the core of the story. Even as a stand-alone film, the visuals, cinematography, and pacing are all off and not what you can expect from such a high-budget film.

hate to break it to you, but I don't think there's gonna be one. It bombed heavily at the box office. I think even if we combine international and domestic, it garnered around $9-10 mil at most. It has a production budget of $21 mil + maybe around $4-5 mil for marketing. It's already hovering at the low 10,000 viewers per day in Korea rn.

That should be the normal response which is why i am sooooo confused whenever I look at other socmed/forums and a lot of fans defend this film to death for some reason that i can't comprehend. They don't even like the movie, they just like the "5-minute" screentime she has. lol

just for context that's around a total of 25,000-30,000 admissions in Thailand over a period of 4 days from Jul 31 to Aug 3 (not sure the specific opening day admissions), idk about singapore though. For taiwan the total admission is around 150,000-170,000 can't find an exact number so i just relied on average ticket prices
