I see the logic behind writer’s decisions of why they did these things (to move the story along, to show backstory, etc, etc) but I guess what I am trying to say is that they didn’t do their job well and it could have been done better :)
I’ve learned it’s dangerous to watch dramas just because of the actors in it. A good script is much more important to avoid having to pull out your hair. For example, the cast of Flourished Peony is very good (along with just about everything else), but first 15-16 episodes of Season 2 weren’t necessary because writers just inserted them to prolong things and to torture our heroes (and viewers).
Once I figured out how there may still be a way for the Lady Doctor to rekindle her romance with the Good Brother, I immediately thought of your admiration for that actress and how that turn of events would please you wholeheartedly /S 😁
I have a question. Is anyone on Princess XY's side with her decisions up to current episodes? Or is anyone sympathizing…
I find her behavior realistic (this happens in real life too), so I have sympathy towards her, but there is no one in the comments section who supports her decisions. She’s extremely disliked here (even though I personally view her as more a tragic character).
Typical cdrama antagonist trope - Make a pitiful backstory for the villain to make his actions reasonable...some…
Not very effective trope when it comes to this character. At least in other dramas (like Flourished Peony), it was interesting to watch a bad character with a sad backstory, here it’s just making me put his scenes on 2x speed 🙄
the writers have been doing so well so far but with 18 episodes still left I hope there’s no silly misunderstanding…
The writers were doing well in 1-16. In 17-20 they made some very questionable choices for the purposes of moving the story along (letting newlyweds leave, disobeying the emperor for no reason, FL not telling ML about the bad guy immediately, trying to make us care about 2ML, and so on).
Very interesting to see it go up. Hopefully, it’s from people catching up on early episodes because personally I found episodes 17-20 to not have as good of writing as 1-16.
I’m starting to have more & more questions for the writers — are they seriously trying to make us care for 2ML and to feel sorry for him? The man committed (or planned to commit) so many horrible things and we are expected to care about what happens with him? Very questionable 🤨
(1) Why did ML actually let the newlyweds escape? He knows 2ML is very evil, that The Princess isn’t thinking…
(1) I agree that it was just a plot point to move the story along, but it’d been better if they escaped without being caught by ML. But he did catch them, fought them and then… just let them go… (2) Yes, he has a lot of resentment (and I agree with your reasoning) but a smart hero would have shown up. He MUST show up eventually and it’d been better to show up sooner. Anyway, let’s hope writers do a bit better in the rest of the episodes :)
People have guessed that it was that character as the bad guy (apparently there was a poster where he was holding…
The Empresses are clearly trying to position their sons to be future emperors. 2ML may like that but I have hope for ML’s brother — he seems nice so far.
Yes! I don’t know if it was that way in the book, but I can’t find any logic behind ML letting the newlyweds…
No one expects the princess to have a happy ending at this point 🙄 I’m very glad we can adjust playback speed in the app — started to watch all of her scenes and/or 2ML scenes at 1.5x 😬
Anyway, let’s hope writers do a bit better in the rest of the episodes :)
