Are you sure you are commenting on the correct drama? The ending express package was just released but the ending was good. All platforms have hits & misses, but YOUKU actually just released a great wuxia drama (The Immortal Ascension) and two great xianxia dramas (this drama and When Destiny Brings the Demon).

Very good question. Maybe to keep the warriors employed. Turning it into a sports event 🤷

If you like this one, I highly recommend When Destiny Brings the Demon (aired on YOUKU before LITC). It has insane chemistry for the leads — so many intimate scenes (censors were on vacation clearly). Just an example — in LITC they did “dual cultivation” once during the entire series. In WDBTD they did it multiple times… in one night 😳❤️‍🔥

Situ Ling is there to show us what happens when crush/love turns into an obsession with tragic results. He’s the opposite of JBZ who doesn’t want to pressure MY into anything. People like SL exist in the real life and can turn into stalkers or worse.

It’s genuinely good and gets better as the series goes on (unlike many drama which start strong but don’t maintain their momentum). But, of course, everyone has different preferences, so if you don’t end up liking it, that’s okay :)

Happy ending. Both of the leads are top warriors for their respective kingdoms (this is fantasy, so magic is involved). FL is a daughter of emperor & empress, ML is a regular person who attained high cultivation level. At least, that’s what’s known at the beginning. More things are revealed throughout 🫣

The ducks 🦆 at the end were like, “Screw it, we aren’t going through all of that again!” 🤣

WDBTD was airing about the same time as Moonlit Reunion and there were a lot of drama in MR comments from anti fans of ML or something like that. MR and WDBTD were actually based on books of the same author but genres are different. MR was also good (maybe not as good as WDBTD) but got downvoted by haters, especially in the beginning. Which is kind of silly because no one in Chinese entertainment industry pays attention to MDL ratings — they use their own criteria, so up/downvoting dramas/stars on MDL using bot accounts is pointless 🙄

Chinese platforms usually have free tier, VIP (subscription per month/year), then SVIP (aka TVOD; separate one-time charge for each show to watch 1 episode early). Then in the end for most shows they do Express Package which allows access to the last 3-4 episodes for another one-time fee. That’s what helps to pay for the content 😁

SL is a third wheel so ML+FL fans aren’t going to like him. The rest is spoilers 🫣

If I remember correctly, she was sad about finding out ML met his first love (FL), so she was disappointed and played sad/moody music. 2ML also had something bad happen (got an earful from his boss?) so her music matched his mood.

Ah, I see. FL doesn’t have full amnesia — only memory of last 2-3 years is gone. And her memory will come back well before the end. It’s not going to be like the source book when ML & FL apparently had a child together while she still didn’t remember everything 🤣
