Have you watched Love Game in Eastern Fantasy and Moonlight? You can almost think of it as related dramas because 3 of 4 leads from Moonlight (modern drama) later starred in fantasy LGIEF (FL, ML, 2ML). And if we try really hard, we could conceivably imagine them being in a shared universe, lol

Have you watched “Love Between Fairy and Devil” and “Love Game in Eastern Fantasy”? WDBTD is similar in vibes to LBFAD. And LGIEF is nice because if you like the lead couple, you can watch them in the earlier modern drama Moonlight (3 of 4 leads from Moonlight are in LGIEF).

Agree about Viki and MDL ratings, but for this drama they are quite fair. Most people really enjoy it and compare the vibes to LBFAD. But everyone likes different things — there’s no obligation to like highly rated dramas :)

The FL character is specifically written to be a “salted fish” which is a Chinese term for people who are burned out from work/stress and now want to take it easy & go with the flow (it’s a real trend for young people in China and other countries). And her lack of ambition is one of the reasons ML doesn’t kill her — FL is like the only person in that world who does NOT want anything from ML (or tries to kill him). By the end, of course, FL makes a lot of progress and has many responsibilities (don’t want to spoil anything).

Blame government censorship — they don’t allow reincarnation & things like that because some people take it seriously and hurt themselves (💀🪦). So the government wants shows to make it seem like everything is not real (takes place in a novel, in a dream, etc.). So that’s why in this drama they didn’t come out and say the end was a 4th lifetime together and everything was real. There were a lot of hints (and they kind of confirmed it in Weibo), but they had to give themselves some wiggle room with censors.

This is very worth it. It’s has a vibe of LBFAD but slightly less… stressful (not sure of the best way to put it). And this drama probably set the record for most kisses this year (or this decade?).

In the drama it’s implied that 2FL and 2ML are together but it’s not officially confirmed. All the focus is on the lead pair.

Sometime the time apart (even for couples) is measured in hundreds of years in cultivation world. So 18 years is pretty minor on that scale.

Maybe novel readers could explain everything. In the drama, FL took over that body but still had qualities of Frozen Fish 🐟

We all wish the modern day scenes were longer, but they had to be smart about obeying censorship rules. For the censors, they had to make it seem like everything was a dream. But actually it’s very clear that this is a 4th lifetime together for the leads — lots of hints and creators even released some Weibo content that pretty much confirms that.

That was a great drama. Let’s hope this one will come close to that standard 🙏

They are the same age, so it’s different. Fake marriage is not a new concept, but perhaps I t’s better to compare this with “Because This Is My First Life” (a great drama with Jung So Min).

I hope they don’t do something cliche like him dying while saving her or something like that. This is a serious show, yes, but we don’t need sad endings all the time.

Two episodes are going to be released every Wednesday — 4 & 5 on Sep. 17, 6 & 7 on Sep. 24 and 8 & 9 on Oct. 1. I believe the release time is midnight PST — so 3 am EST / 2 am CST / 1 am MST (in the US).

It’s actually quite good for now, but all will depend on how they bring everything together and explain everything. That’s where many shows fail.
