Question for experts: is there a reason why FL didn’t recognize ML’s voice when she was blind and, similarly, ML didn’t recognize FL’s voice as that of his old schoolmate (general)? Were there some nuances we couldn’t grasp by only reading subtitles? 🤔

Yes, there’s an animated version (“donghua”). It’s made by the same team as this drama. So a lot of people watch donghua and some have mentioned it’s better than the novel because it’s faster paced (relatively speaking). Epaiaode 15 of “remake” donghua (better animation) is where events of drama’s Episode 12 happen. You can watch it here to see the difference — https://youtu.be/gYFQbbLaWH4

This is the part that’s a little bit murky. I seem to recall people saying NGW will be the one & only true wife and others will be concubine(s) he doesn’t really love. But others have said reincarnated Mo will be second wife. So maybe she will be part of his harem as part of his fondness for Mo but not the one true love like NGW 🤔 Kind of wish donghua was further along so that we could see all of that after the drama ends. But donghua is at 150+ episodes (after 4+ years) and it’s not even at the point of first marriage. At this pace people have estimated it will take 900+ episodes and it will be 2040 when donghua is finished 😳
It seems like he gave her that pill as a way to appease her, so she wouldn’t kill him.
That was her reaction too — “does he think I’m too old?”. Which, to be fair, is understandable. Our guy is under 30 and she’s ~300. MDL needs to add a tag “Noona Romance” 🤣
In the novel she doesn’t move on and doesn’t get married. But much, much later she gets reincarnated as a different person (no memories), meets Han Li who recognizes she used to be Mo, shows the new person MO’s memories and then somehow she becomes his second (?) wife or something along those lines (I didn’t read the novel, but summarizing what was told by others). However, NGW is main romance for HL, his first wife and someone he cares a lot for (it will happen hundreds of years after current events).Jn the novel, HL does bad, bad things to people who dare to mistreat NGW.

Ah, I see your point. I think that would require a much longer running time to go into those details. We just have to accept that — like a video game character — he periodically gets enough experience to improve himself. There are a lot of things for our hero to do (war, affairs in the capital, his own agenda) that it’s not boring at all (well… masters arguing over price of supplies might’ve been a tad too long).
Can someone make sense of this drama??????? I dont care about the romance i am not into romance anyway, but this…
If you have specific questions, comments is a good place to have them answered. I’ve never read the novel or watched donghua, but can follow the drama just fine (have to rewind sometimes to re-read subtitles) except for some very tiny details. In general, think of it like this — main hero gets a job (joins the sect) for which he’s not qualified for (his spirit root is not good enough) and everyone else knows that. So mow he has to work extra-hard to catch up to others to make sure he stays employed (not kicked out of the sect or killed). So he’s doing various things to acquire ancient texts which help him learn new skills & improve his cultivation. There are different levels of cultivation: Qi -> Foundation -> Core -> … and within each one there are multiple tiers. So, like a video game character he levels up periodically. Additionally, to get from Qi to Foundation level requires using Foundation Pill. Most other people need 1-2, but his spirit root makes it more difficult so it takes more. In his spirit root he has 4 elements which makes it much more difficult to develop and reach higher tiers. That’s why sects usually only accept people with 1/2/3 (best/great/good) and weed out people with 4/5. In a very, very long run him having 4 elements may be more beneficial, but that’s not going to be covered in this season :)
Question to experts about Episode 20: was NGW just imagining that conversation with HL? I initially through it was some sort of telepathic discussion, but later events didn’t make it seem like that. 🤔
