Watched first 2 episode. So far, not that impressed. I know it's just a begining but there are really not much…
Honest question: what were your expectations? For a comedic drama, first two episodes have been pretty good (to me) and set up the story possibilities nicely, so I’m curious to hear other people’s thoughts.

Fo what it’s worth, I think the most important part is going to be the second half of the drama. So, so many recent K-dramas went downhill after a promising beginning (or, at least, a competent beginning).

The Korean title is “Wife of a 21st Century Prince” so we will have at least one wedding for sure.
I don’t know, unfortunately. I try to stay away from spoilers.

Agree. I think also K-dramas can get more higher tier actors in a same drama because there’s no hard cap like there’s in China (40% of total production budget). But just like favors get called in for star cameos in Korean dramas, some Chinese dramas can also entice 1st/2nd lead level actors to show up in small parts. One of my favorite C-drama couples is actually a 3rd couple in a drama but it’s played by leading actor/actress-level people (and they even get their own theme song in the drama 🥰)

HAHAHAHA
I forgot to include a stop in 1970-1990s. I think that’s required for modern dramas nowadays 🤣

It’s always cool to see IU play characters like this :)And I think her character acts arrogant just as a defense…
All fair points, maybe I’m sympathizing too much with her character, lol. We will see how it develops IU mentioned this week’s episodes will also show a different, lonely side of the FL.

They have spent a lot on this drama.... The reason I find Korean Film Industry a cut above the rest is the quality…
I agree with you in general although sometimes there’s a downside to having great actors in secondary/supporting roles. Some K-dramas have too many storylines going on and 5 “good” storylines is not better than 1-2 “great” storylines.

And I think her character acts arrogant just as a defense mechanism but we will see. She’s also not spoiled because — for better or worse — she’s an outsider and doesn’t have the full privilege that a legitimate chaebol kid would have. FL has a chip on her shoulder and wants to prove that she’s better so that’s why she was #1 in school.

Have you watched “The Story of Park's Marriage Contract”? It’s a great mix of historical + modern elements.

That’s by design. She’s not supposed to be a good character :)
Queen of Tears had a young bad female character, but I suppose she wasn’t the big bad guy and ultimately she had a good ending.

So..I’m completely lost. Wtf is happening?
The honest answer is that no one knows what going on. Even if you see someone mention something from leaked scripts, it doesn’t mean anything because multiple versions of scripts had been leaked and we don’t know what the author/director ultimately decided to do 😳

I swear some people are watching this drama with their eyes closed because how on earth do you come to the conclusion…
to be more precise, if you watch this drama carefully, how can you come to ANY conclusion when the author keeps throwing twists & turns at every possible opportunity!

I don't really know how the ratings work here but seeing the ratings go above 9 for most episodes, I'm surprised…
Given how fickle ratings are on MDL, anything above 8.0 is still worth looking into. I don’t really pay attention to exact numbers because they can be manipulated, especially by haters/antis who show up for almost every drama and thrive on getting ratings very low. Reading comments and reviews from trustworthy people is much better.

If this drama had 40 episodes other than 29 episodes, this is what the author would have done to mess with us even further:

Episodes 30-35: heroes open a portal into an alternate universe and end up in our world, specifically Republic era. Two male leads are now rival private investigators, two female leads are femme fatales manipulating them (or is someone else manipulating them too? 🤔). Due to budget cuts, colorists are not employed so the whole arc is in black & white. CGI is too expensive, so no magical powers — just gunfights and boxing.

Episodes 36-40: heroes end up in the present day where two female leads are now top online sales ladies and two male leads have mysterious pasts and unknown goals. Due to further budget cuts, half of the footage is filmed as a vlog and half on VHS cameras 📼 . No budget for CGI or wire work, so the action is done like a Hong Kong style action movie. Film crew ran out of fake blood 🩸, so every day before filing starts, everyone has to donate some blood for heroes to spit out / be covered in

😁

I’m so lost, I don’t even have the mental capacity to try to predict what the author meant by all this. We will see soon enough :)

Why there are people voting the episodes that aren't out yet? What's the fun of downrating a series that you still…
It’s pretty common, unfortunately, for haters/antis to leave reviews and rate episodes claiming they’ve watched entire series even though a drama aired 5-6 episodes. That’s why it’s not unusual to have a drama have very low ratings early on — Pursuit of Jade was a recent notable exception (rankings stayed solid until closer to the end… until the episodes got leaked which invited a horde of haters/trolls who lowered score from 9.2 to 9.1).
