Its much more fun to watch and analyse the red flags, and to try and understand the games they play.
If Fah and Teh just become a couple (after that 2nd episode) it would have been another boring fluffy GMM show. The fact that Fah is manipulating and playing games makes it more interesting. I want to know what the next move is.
And its amusing to see a playboy like Jimmy who is used to getting anybody he wants being totally ignored by Fah. I know that people think that Teh owed Jimmy some loyalty because of their friendship; But its not so straight forward. Jimmy is not being loyal either as he is manipulating Tehs brother, and Fah has rejected Jimmy's advances (so far).
***ALSO noticed that Teh lied to Jimmy. He could have been upfront about Fah when Jimmy asked him directly if anything happened.
Its fiction and no real people feelings were hurt by in the making of this toxic production. The show is to entertain and not to teach us morals. So enjoy.
I wonder is someone with knowledge of Japanese or maybe just Japanese bl can explain something and thanks.
I find the way the characters speak to each other very strange. Its the intonation with forced pitch sometimes. (for example episode 2 at about 15.40 mark). Im not very good at describing it. I have come across it in many bl dramas.
Is this a normal way of speaking, or is it to convey awkwardness or uneasiness or is it just in dramas?
Being a playboy does not mean being a "cheater" since he is not monogamous and he is open about it with…
If Jimmy was honest, and if it was an open relationship he would have told him he had a hookup when Run questioned him about the phone call. He was cheating.
They (run/jimmy) were dating and it was not just casual hookups. He had lied and got caught cheating in the past and it was not not acceptable under the terms they had and Jimmy knew that. If you are correct about your argument that they had an open relationship, Jimmy would have been honest about his hookups, and Run would not have walked away.
Using someone is relevant. It shows dishonesty. Why should Jimmy expect honesty and loyalty then when he does not reciprocate? You are using the "How dare you lie to me when i have been lying to you all along" argument to feel sorry for Jimmy. Jimmy chose the terms.
Just starting watching this. Im not saying its brilliant but it feels more sincere. I find the older Kdramas more interesting and engaging. Also nice seeing actors with natural skin colour and less plastic surgery. The faces are more interesting.
There are some good recent kdramas but the majority seem to be too formulaic with same tropes and cliches.
Dropping this for the time being. Enjoyed first 2 episodes then due to long delay i forgot what was happening and could not get back into it. So annoying. Maybe will watch it when its finished.
I havent read many reviews by western critics lately (stopped watching western dramas) but they dont tend to moralise if i remember correctly. I just enjoy their analysis of the story and insight into characters & plots that i may have missed. The criteria used to judged was more objective. Maybe that has changed now. Im finding younger audience very "moralistic" here but they are not critics.
I have never watched Turkish, Indian or Latin American soap operas, I avoid soap operas and get annoyed when unwittingly get caught in one. eg a drama like When the phone rings ec
Win does not do bls now. Actors from Tharntype dont do bl either. Jeff doesnt do much acting.
I have watched the original Office. Its very different to US one but good. Its difficult to watch because the awkwardness is so good.
The second couple is much more interesting than the main couple. I don't know about you, but with all the times…
I agree. I like the actors but the first couple stopped being that interesting when they got together. And even at the begging when they were fighting it got a bit too much and was kind of childish. I think the second couples relationship was more interesting. I felt more time could have been spent exploring that relationship and dynamics - and expanding on it. But it would have called for a more mature story
SOOOO many comments here saying "I don't understand what this was all about."There are some confusing…
thanks for taking time to explain. It made me take the time to watch this.
It should have been longer. I think there was so much more to explore about previous and current relationship as well as (as you said) secrets to be uncovered
the show is very careful to make sure their relationship isnt sexual at alllllll. he never does anything she isn't…
its very creepy behaviour to f%ck somebody who's diapers you could have changed when you were an adult. Sure its fiction lol but i draw the line somewhere. Its just strange that people can romanticise this and think its cute. Its not. Its f*cked up shit. But hey you do you and romantise having sex with people you knew as children when they become adults . I mean such a relationship is not illegal as they are both adults now but its creepy. Its like Woody Allan vibes.
"I was LIVING for it because getting hurt is where growth starts."Exactly. Jimmy, Teh, and Fah will have…
I only picked these things up because I rewatched parts of the show. I mean I may be way off about Fah. But at the moment I can only go about what he said and his actions. Anything else would be judging him based on my preconception/prejudice/insecurities (director may have filmed it that way). Its crazy but I avoided dating good look men because of my insecurities and preconceptions. One of my favourite quotes is from Anaïs Nin where she says that we dont see the world as it is but rather as we are.
Yes I meant Jimmy. He is not transparent and his partner doesn't have the information to make an informed decision. But in fiction, I love the questionable characters/ toxic behaviours and non GMM bl shows.
I look forward to next episode and further posts, analysis, discussions.

Thanks - I love analysing, discussing and hearing other peoples opinions to understand better. Your posts helped me reflect on what my current view are - but subject to change.
lol, I like Jamie and he could have been a playboy with integrity if he didnt try to hide/lie about the phone call amongst other small things.
Re Fah. He mentioned something about being tired of playboys who cheat (something to that effect) and he was moving on to women. He is used to being popular and being pursued as an object. I am thinking that maybe he seeks control to protect himself. Also when Fah met Teh in the past, Teh had made an impression on him. He remembered Teh, so he may actually have a real crush on Teh. In a lot of shows the popular cheerleader type are usually the mean girls so its easy to jump to that conclusion about Fah, and also to project about the popular character being dark, a red flag.
I also want to add that I was blown away be your analysis of Therapy games -it was beautifully written. I kind of sensed the games being played but would never have expressed it so eloquently.
Being a playboy does not mean being a "cheater" since he is not monogamous and he is open about it with…
I agree that Jimmy is a cheater because he is not upfront with his partners.
His behaviour implies this. Most certainly when he is pursing both Toh and Fah and then using Toh to get to Fah. He is not upfront here. Also he is not honest with his partner in the first episode about hooking up with others when they were dating. He is most certainly not being honest about his other relationships with the current partner he is dating. He tries to conceal the truth.

If he was upfront i agree he is not a cheat. Does Jimmy tell his partners upfront that he is not monogamous? He is most certainly dishonest because he is pursing both Toh and Fah, and using Toh to get to Fah. He did not have reveal his intentions to Toh about Fah but has continued to flirt with him.
He is a playboy and I suspect a cheat because I dont believe he is upfront about his intentions. His behaviour with Toh suggests he is not upfront. And he is dishonest because he doesn't break up with his partners when he gets bored but rather let them realise he is an asshole.
Anyway I like Jimmy. (as a red flag character in fiction)
"I was LIVING for it because getting hurt is where growth starts."Exactly. Jimmy, Teh, and Fah will have…
Love your analysis and reading your posts.
If Jimmy was upfront with the men he pursued, telling them its casual sex then he would be the most honest and straightforward. My understanding is that when he gets bored, he cheats and behaves badly instead of ending it. So to me he is not upfront and a coward. Not saying Teh is better but at least when he loses interest he ends it. I would prefer that from my partner because its upfront and honest. It would be better if he told me the relationship would last 2 weeks at most.
I haven't grasped Fah personality yet but I didn't see the sex scene as being about Fah proving his confidence or control of the situation. I may be wrong but I saw it more about lust, and devouring what he pursued at first possibility.
Toh I dont understand. How can he be this naïve with a brother like Teh and a friend like Fah. It took a while for me to understand that he is the older brother. Its unusual for the younger brother to be protective or a more naïve older brother.
Also I find it strange that Toh who must know his friend Fah is still helping Fah pursue his younger brother.
Jimmy does like Fah (infatuation) which was why he started befriending Teh’s brother, Toh. He wasn't interested…
I dont think that Teh owes Jimmy any favours. He asked him to stay away from his brother.
Jimmy liked Fah BUT Jimmy is also pursing and messing around with the emotions of Tehs brother. He is using Toh to get Fah, the man he is interested in.

lol Jimmy is even more of an asshole .
He cheats and acts like an asshole with his current partners instead of breaking up and moving on.
I bet he doesn't tell any partner he pursues upfront that its just sex. But he toys with his partners and that is the red flag.
Jimmy liked Fah BUT Jimmy is also pursing and messing around with the emotions of Tehs brother. He is using Toh to get Fah, the man he is interested in.
But i love this mess.
