That’s the part that made me question her decision. The Yu’s are banned for 3 generations so they are pretty much lower class now. As a teacher, she’s above them. Why not go get her child since her thinking is a bit more modern (asking for freedom in that era).

My friend, seeing her smile on that damn swing is what took me over the edge when it came to her behavior.

I brought modern western thinking into historical setting drama 🤦🏽‍♀️. I understand her choice better now, that’s all she could do ☹️.

Like giving her son in exchange of her freedom while also giving a chance to the Yu to do good by raising him to become a good person? I can see that… I wish she would have sent him to her dad instead when the Yu became commoners.

It annoyed me to see her thriving in peace while her son is in poverty with a crazy woman and a spineless dad ☹️.

The poor child was in abject poverty at the end while she was thriving. I understand that some women realize they are happier not being mothers but was it really Fan’s case? I’m thinking if she had love from her husband, she would have loved being a wife and mom, no? You are absolutely right about some women finding out that motherhood is not for them, I just wish she would have come up with a better solution. Maybe having her scholar dad raise her son.

Is her son really in a better place with his dad and now senile grandma? She’s a teacher now, wouldn’t he be better with her?

This drama was worth the wait, i thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s been a while since i felt respected by the entire cast and crew, they all did what they needed to do and executed well. Special mention to the director and the crew responsible for the cinematography 👏👏👏.

So she was there when they were all killed? There are no survivors. She stayed there until she was asked to come down and that’s why she said on ep 12 used to play chess alone etc… I am finally putting things together. Thank you!

Honestly, I have no idea. It was one of the comments floating at the top on the Tencent App. Someone wrote “oh there she goes with another hallucination.” Then another one “I hope she’s aware of her illness.” Idk why those comments were there but they showed up when YeLi was drinking tea with that woman at the hotel/bar. The woman who seems to be dating YeLi bodyguard.

That’s why I was confused, it seemed to imply that the bodyguard and that scene was hallucination. Idk, maybe it was just a random comment.

Thank you so much! Same as you, I’ve only counted 2 hallucinations (the maid and the time she fought the snakes). Someone said that she was having an hallucination on episode 12 but I couldn’t figure out when.

I’m also unsure where the theory of YeLi being the maid came from, I thought it was a twist in the novel (if there’s a novel). We will see but I hope not cuz that will be a huge unbelievable stretch in the script.
