Such potential....wasted
This drama could have been wrapped in 12 eps. Alright with that out of the way I will confess that I had dropped this drama at Ep 12. I was so hyped about this drama back in the day and even visited the locations in Seoul of this drama. Super cute ML and bubbly chirpy FL was super fun to watch first few episodes. The chemistry was amazing. All of that lasted for the first 5 episodes. Then the repetition of the plot started to get boring. I felt sorry for the ML who kept chasing the FL and she kept wasting our and his time. :bAround ep 10 the ML also figured out the time travel plot and even confronted the FL so they could have worked together as a team but she chose to once again do it her way and fail...again !!
So after a couple of years I picked it again and remembered all the reasons I had dropped it.....this time screaming, shouting at the screen, mostly at the FL. So much potential with the cast and story....!! ><

One time watch
I had big hopes for this drama. But the execution failed and in some places so did the acting.For an idol who has a murder charge on him and is facing jail time, I found him more like a prince throwing a tantrum left right and center.
The first couple of episodes where you feel any sympathy for him soon turns into frustration and annoyance.
The romance felt forced and more like a noona romance which should not be the case going by the childhood memory they share.
It a strange one, I could bring myself to watch this one back to back, but rather one episode a couple of days. Still can recommend for a binge watch.

Simple and Boring
The starting was fun. I knew this was a comedy romance and I was prepared for a light hearted romance but I was not ready for boring.All scenes that could/should have been emotional or carry some depth, basically the back stories of both main characters were shallow.
The young romance was boring and I found myself skipping through any scene with them.
I do like the main male lead which is why even with so much skipping I finished this drama.
I could not decide if the lawyer had a crush on the ML for chasing him for a silly to no reason OR he genuinely liked FL.
Parents were selfish and confused about what they really wanted.
Nothing about the story sticks, everything is on a fast pace and you just don't get to enjoy a certain emotion properly before another one is thrown at you.
It's a simple, uncomplicated binge watch that does get boring from time to time.

The almost perfect enemies to friends to lovers story
Yes it exists !! When the story, acting, casting is just right. When the plot is funny when it needs to be, serious when it needs to be. No overacting just good script and actors. The bromance is spot on. Nothing is too over the top or exaggerated. They don't try too hard for the audience to get the joke. Absolute joy to watch this drama. I have some specific scenes that I love to watch and rewatch. Ep 3 is one of them....only one complain. The baby talk FL does did get me annoyed and irritated from time to time. I don't know of this is how her acting is or demand from the script, but i did find myself cringe whenever she spoke or behaved in that 'I am a dumb woman what do I know' voice. But everything else was good enough for me to get over that, most times, and enjoy this drama.Was this review helpful to you?
What an amazing ride
This is a really good drama divided in 2 parts.Just like GOT if you can manage through first 10eps you will not be disappointed.
The first half is plain boring. I have a review somewhere in this thread saying I might drop this. But will stay mostly because of the ML. YES! HE iS HOT but is also an amazing actor. The FL has also done a good job but the role and acting she had to do for the first half did not feel convincing. Second however was right up her Ally, which is where it becomes super interesting too.
I think for me personally the drama became absolutely to obsess about from ep 30 onwards.
I will say that the story is divided in 2 parts. 1-29ep and then 30-38ep.
I know I will definitely be re-watching later half of this drama from time to time. It's just that good. I think the FL finally got the role to play that actually suited her best in the later half.
TLDR
30 ep onwards it's amazing. You can actually watch it directly from there and not miss too much context if you ve watched multiple chinese dramas.

Damsel in distress and dumb FL do not work anymore....please mature up
This was a good drama, in all fairness. Just that this formula of a FL who is too innocent or stupid at times a.k.a overly trusting l, or a pushover is almost obsolete.Almost every single character in this drama loves to live in self pity mode all the time and thinks they are doing the world a favor by suffering when pretty much no one wants it.
The antagonist has absolutely no reason to hate the ML except that his ego got hurt. He literally spends all his time and money following and pinging the ML. Its pathetic, like dude seriously get a life. His problem seems like he doesn't have any so needs one and this was the best he could come up with.
The second FL, again has absolutely no reason to stay in the relationship she is in except she wants to be in a pity mode or have an excuse for not making it big and this was the best she could think off.
The FL hates the guts of the ML in the beginning but still ends up living in his home and chooses to sleep in a laundry room for some reason.
It's like every single person chooses to suffer because that makes them feel a better person.
Maybe I have outgrown such dramas, I feel I would have enjoyed this 5-6 years ago but now not.
Still a good binge one time watch, be prepared to fast forward at times.

Decent one time watch
Alright so I finally finished watching this drama. It was a happy ending.I like that it has a refreshing take on FL character who is exactly what and how you would expect a maiden from a rich family of that era would be. At times it was annoying because you will find her shallow, specially her pray for a husband and the type she wants but then you have to remind yourself that this is a normal for that era.
The ML is handsome and his friends are a joy. I did enjoy scenes and character of the second FL and ML more, pity there was not much of them in the later episodes.
Towards the end though I really started to get annoyed with the FL. Like seriously woman you are a self proclaimed delicate darling then just let the soldiers and people who knows how to fight fight. Why the heck would you want to get yourself in situations where people have to get distracted to save you aswell. Like it was so obvious that I must have rage quit atleast a few times in same episode.
Also getting getting jealous drunk while on the main plot mission almost made me want to slap the ML.
Conclusion:
It's a good one time binge watch. You will cheer and enjoy the second pairing more than the original pairing.
I don't regret watching this drama, but there are definitely better ones out there.

Absolutely beautiful drama
I had alot of fun watching this drama. For once the female lead and second lead were genuinely strong female characters. They were honest, blunt and mature.Its very rare that a female lead looks mature even when trying to act cute.
I really enjoyed every single episode. Each character was well written and acted.
The male lead and second lead were also very well casted. Their rivalry bang on. It's been a long time since I have enjoyed a modern day Chinese drama this much. It was the perfect length also. Any more would have been a drag. I highly recommend this drama.
For me the most refreshing thing was how a female lead was portrayed in this drama. No damsel in distress here. Need more such dramas.

Love it....it's not perfect but love it
Call it cheezy but for me, bad boy good girl romance still gives me the butterflies. This one ticked all the boxes. Bikes, cars, steamy scenes, something new something old. I enjoyed it. I think I will keep revisiting this one for a while for sure, definitely for some scenes and episodes.But, yes there is always a but....I am getting tired and I think Esther needs to really rethink for how long she wants to keep that annoying baby voice, dumb baby look. I mean it worked in some places in this drama but after a while it was just plain annoying and difficult to watch, despite the steamy scenes.
I feel acting a little mature might have also helped. This I am still a baby but have hot steamy scenes with me were uncomfortable to watch. They made some scenes blatantly cringey. He yu's acting was spot on though, I think he delivered his role perfectly.
Overall I would definitely want to watch more such dramas in future, by other actors too. ;)

Not too bland but not too interesting also
First 20 eps were good.....last few episodes were a drag.....like complete drag. I made myself finish this, it started great, was fun, comedy but the fact that the plot was pretty simple every thing for sorted.....pretty easily. That's not the main issue, it was just not that interesting for me.A decent binge watch but there are better ones out there.

A perfect one time binge watch
If you are looking for an easy binge watch with nothing serious but a slice of life drama, then this one is for you.A comfortable watch. Nothing outstanding, nothing too lasting, just a cozy comfort watch when you are between dramas or awaiting for THAT drama to finish airong so you can watch everything back to back.
I would definitely recommend adding this to the watchlist for those times.
It's that hot drink you want to warm your hands on a cold night and not really care how it tastes but it still makes you comfortable and puts a smile on your face.

A perfect small binge watch
Just finished this, a perfect binge watch. Absolutely loved Ryan Cheng. Came here after watching Shadow love and Legend of general and was absolutely not disappointed.A must watch while you wait for more Ryan cheng dramas, this is definitely his year so far. The story is good but that is not really the main reason you ll be watching this. The romantic scenes are steamy. The length justifies the story, anything more would have been a drag. Enjoy this small mini series.

Good Binge watch but dont look for logic....like any
The show started strong. The chemistry lovely. Bromance 10/10. Every single character did an amazing job of portraying their roles, even the support cast and side characters. But the story is messy. Some things, even when I try to not use my brains, don't make sense. Like what was the fuss about ?The big bad shaman summons 'evil deity' who is just your average friendly ghost, for what reason ? Unclear. After creating all the havoc in the world she suddenly is the good guy still trying to kill the FL because she is trying to now do the right thing.
The plot is so so messy. Everyone just let's the bad shaman so her evil stuff because...... Honestly if not for good acting, chemistry and the fact this was only 12 eps. I would have dropped it. Everything in this show has no point, there is no big picture. It could easily have been a show about self discovery and romcom. Such a wasted oppertunity when the failure is only script makes me ugh!!

Loved every second....!!
This was a complete surprise. Every single character's acting and role was done fabulously. The FL lead casting was bang on, the way she potrayed her character was such a delight. No delicate darling nor over the top unrealistic skills. Just a regular smart person who has strong survival skills and loves her family and wants to prove something.This was my first Ding Yu Xi drama and i absolutely developed a massive crush on him or rather the role he played. One of my personal favourite things is to see actors who have some meat on the bones and are not sticklike or too skinny. Makes the roles they play comical imo.
The story was very well written and potrayed. I was absolutely immersed into it from episode1. You love the characters you are meant to love and hate the ones you should. No over the top overacting with comedy.
This is my second time watching this drama and many times I have found myself just looking for YouTube edits of my favourite scenes...just like that.
Highly recommend this drama. It deserves all the love it got and more.

Very interesting.....must watch
So let me start with that I came to this drama with the only goal of watching Cheng Lie....that's it he was the plot for me.I am not a particular fan of Chinese drama from this time period, mostly because I am not very familiar with Chinese history and I end up feeling more confused and frustrated with how female roles are displayed. The introduction of some western luxurious things while complete absense of them in the areas that matter baffles me, annoys me and frustrates me. I just avoid such dramas, this is a me issue.
However as I said I came for Cheng Lie and I am glad I did. This drama, the first arc was captivated me from the first Ep. I finished it all in 2 days straight. Everyone acted superbly, all roles were gray and just so intriguing and involving that I might come back one day to it to actually watch the second and third arc. My dropping this drama has nothing to do with the story or content or acting. It's a gem and I highly recommend watching this one.
Job well done in execution!! Kudos to the team.
