Seriously, the romance in this drama is so beautiful. Finally, a worthy FL for Cheng Yi who isn’t annoying, I lived to see this! The chemistry between him and Li Yitong is beyond perfect. I love the fact that she is someone simple struggling to survive and learning how to be strong. I hate those dramas where the FLs are childish, arrogant, rich and all that annoying stuff. Thank goodness we don't have any of that this time 🙌🏻
I’m sorry but of all the actors who have played Su Muyu (in the Blood of Youth, Dashing Youth, and now Blood River), Cheng Hongxin was by far the best. What an underrated actor. I remember when I saw him in the first ep of DY with that dark aura, it gave me goosebumps. He managed to be cold, handsome and hot at the same time. He had a huge screen presence, even tho he was missed in most eps (I suspect it was the directors' strategy to avoid stealing the ML’s glow. They even covered Zhu Zhengting's face with a dull veil and made other handsome actors wear a mask… bizarre. It didn't even help at the end because almost everyone in there stole Neo Hao’s glow lol).
It's a shame they didn't keep Cheng Hongxin in Blood River. In TBOY it's understandable that it's another actor because it's his older phase. I’m obsessed with Gong Jun since WoH, but he's not convincing me in this role. He’s more like Mary Poppins than Su Muyu. In fact, all the other actors in the cast so far look like dolls, not convincing compared to the previous Dark River’s sect performances.
Also, I don't know why they changed the name from Dark River to Blood River. Dark River was way much better.
