my presumption- he's gone. the final scene had that same lighting effect as her dream about them finding each other and getting married.

lol, literally just finished watching this (I'm on a Xing Xu spiral) and I was speed watching this because it is pretty basic, cutesy, nothing surprising and then that ending. I don't know whether I hate them or love them for doing that 🫠 but I wish that they committed to it more... what an ending 😅

I did like it too, but then the first 4 episodes played as a flashback telling us all the exact same info... choose a style, is what I am saying. Go with the Docu style and make us see the superficial exterior and instill doubt while showing us her dubious actions... that could be fun

I think you need to look at the definition of foreshadowing again... narrative exposition cannot 'foreshadow' something that may happen, it can only hint at or instill doubt, all of which is intentional. what I am saying is that I would rather they have revealed a secret or a flaw that would become her undoing rather than outright telling us 'so she is clinically messed up, has a dubious past and will probably land herself in trouble on the path she has chosen'...

exactly - I felt like they wanted to add shock factor and also make us judge her as a sociopath from the get go, without understanding why she does what she does or even learning it for ourselves

I am finding this intriguing (4eps in). I am a little annoyed at the exposition in episode 1 - telling us about her antisocial PD and involvement in murders, and her character traits... kinda felt like the first 4 eps have been backstory that told us all these things, why narrate it to us in the first 5min 🤨

I'm trying to figure out why SHM has been a deadbeat to the board of directors and desperately trying to prove himself to the board and his father, and yet he has been the spokesperson for Jinda, building towns for Jinda, and basically the heir apparent for Jinda Group as far as the public is concerned... just doesn't add up

I think these two episodes have given SHM a chance to prove himself, sincerely, through his actions. Yes, he does look to XY afterwards wanting acknowledgement and flirting, but still, when he heard she was in trouble when the truck broke down and again with QL reaching out to him to tell him that the studio was blacklisted, he jumped straight into action even doing things he would not normally do such as take an interview with Sun SiWei. They could be looked at as manipulative but we see him go through the realisation and action phases - he chooses to help her.

Seems like he is respectful of her because A) they are technically family B) Fang Lei's father doesn't know about the kid? and C) he is looking after her because he presumes her sad bit how her sister died and they are bonding in the grief
