In fact, even k-pop has immense influence of jpop. Japanese truly are kings of content from anime to dramas and music! I have seen the remake you are talking about. It's quite unique compared to all remakes of pure soul because it has music which intensifies the emotion...and is really a standout.
I have seen all 4 versions of this story... including the original "pure soul" . It's crazy how some people are hating on certain versions because of its success. Almost all versions have their own uniqueness and beauty. It's projection of some personal issues as well I guess because...why would anyone hate on this beautiful story unnecessarily.

A LOT of the people watching this series are ironically younger than 18 though...or just teenagers in general. The writer and producer has taken advantage of the fact that their idea of romance, love, consent and even worldview in general hasn't fully developed. I hope you know that regardless of the bullying you got, your review is GREAT. People are saying that they don't understand how you think that everyone should agree with you on the fact that non consensual sex...(also known as rape ) is unlikable. Its sad that a counter viewpoint exists. There's people that want to fulfill their fantasy of RAPE and SA in a fiction and they find it odd that you have a problem with the characters being portrayed as lovers. It's sad that romanticization of this has happened instead of writing them as criminals and showing the consequences. They haven't shown the hurt or psychological trauma a victim of SA feels because that would hinder the romantic angle and break the romance between abuser and abused. That was deliberate.

Oh you have no idea. So many of these people said that they "enjoyed" the novel too. If you know, the novel is the most pathetic piece of rape romanticization I have seen. So many people have openly confessed to liking the novel a lot. Of course they like the drama because they find that it's "toned down" as in only few scenes of rape and abuse have been shown here while the novel is full of it. They know it and they still call it ROMANCE AND LOVE. This is straight up badly written crime drama. Let me tell you the funniest part. The characters are also a cheaters so they used "sexual contact without consent isn't cheating" as an argument for their fav character but they blindly and conveniently ignore consent when it goes against romanticization of the rapist lead.
