I feel like they used so many episodes for the Lin’An arc and now some key scenes are being sacrificed to save…
I’m definitely seeing some rough edits. I’m worried we will not do justice to the story with the chancellor and palace intrigue. It doesn’t appear that we will be done with the battlefield story until ep. 31. That leaves nine episodes to resolve the rescue of Qing Qing and demise of the two evil brothers. And finally we have to resolve the story with the chancellor. Oh, and give us a satisfactory conclusion to Changyu and Xie Zheng’s romance. That’s a lot to do.
Okay I get the ‘drag him more’ team… I really do. BUT that man was way too smooth with his apology—his…
I was thinking the same thing. He really poured it in when he reminded her of their life in the village and how that was the happiest he had ever been. No wonder she folded after one episode. Lol.
I can’t remember the last time I watched a Cdrama episode more than once on the same release date. I watched every episode twice (sometimes three), once on IQIYI and then on Netflix. I have watched the last ten minutes of ep 26 multiple times. I haven’t been this hooked on a show since The Double. Not many can supplant my man, Duke Su but Changyu is coming close. This show is already in my top 10 all time Cdramas. It’s getting close to being in my top 3. If they can end this series well, you could argue that it should be listed among the best. I’m praying it doesn’t slip up in the end.
All this complaining about 1 episode per day when it's actually a privilege...Back in the day, we would have had…
Lol. That’s how it is with Kdramas. You are lucky to get two episodes a week. It’s excruciating to wait for the next episodes. That’s actually how I got into Cdramas. I was waiting for episodes to drop from a Kdrama and decided to watch The Double while I waited. Since then I was hooked on Cdramas.
The last 10 minutes of ep 26 was peak cinema. You’re going to be hard pressed to find better in another Cdrama. The fight scene, Marquis Wuan riding in and reveal, the cinematography and music. The shot of her being picked up and scarf falling away is a movie poster and my new background. It was so beautifully shot. And praise to Tian Xi Wei. The range of emotions that went across her face when she saw XZ was award worthy.
Honestly drugging him was karma for the play he put in the tent. It had the perfect effect on her cz she feared…
Tbh, I don’t like her deception either. If she believes her husband is just a foot soldier, drugging him to keep him from fighting is wrong. Not only would he appear to be dishonorable to other soldiers, she’s taking away his choice. And that’s basically what XZ is doing to her under the guise of protection. Both of them need to be honest. We can’t praise her for drugging her husband who she believes is a regular soldier and then be mad that he’s lying. So if he were a regular soldier, would it be ok for her to be drug him?
I feel the same. ALL of XZ’s fight scenes have gotten cut incredibly short or cut out completely and the drama…
I still don’t know how she became l a general based on what we have seen so far. Being a general is more about strategy and knowledge of warfare than individual combat. The best fighters never become generals. Usually it’s the best minds.
Since this drama started, I completely forgot to check in on the status of other dramas I'm waiting for 🤣🤣🤣…
Yeah I’m too consumed. Normally I’ll watch two Cdramas or a Cdrama and Kdrama to pass the time. But I’ll just stick with POJ until the end before starting something else.
princess Royal is nice and all. but with 1 ep a day she is quite unnecessary. I'd rather see a villain than see…
I needed a break from the Qi Min story because it was going to start spinning its wheels at the rate it was going. Him just yapping and playing mental games was getting old fast. They need to move to what’s next. So a break was needed.
it's not Chang Hu fault, he let her inside the prison door, whatfor in the first place ? to vent her anger ? 😅,…
She shouldn’t have been allowed in at all. It’s stretching believability. She might technically be the machioness, which I guess makes her the third highest ranking title in the camp behind XZ and the princess but that doesn’t give her military rank. I don’t even think that gives her nobility because their marriage hasn’t been recognized by his family or the emperor. So they shouldn’t be listening to her at all.
Imlike the episode but you could definitely feel the hard cuts to this episode. A lot didn’t make sense. Unfortunately we are at the point in the series where things could get messy in order to wrap it up with so few episodes left.
This is the first time I felt the time constraints of 40 episodes affect the story. This episode’s story felt chopped down for expediency and that left me confused. 1. Ning just comes in out of the blue and mentions the bad man ( Sui Yuan Qing) was in the cave (dungeon). The next thing we know, Changyu finds her way to the dungeon with her group to get some revenge. For one, Xie Zheng’s lieutenant shouldn’t have let her in the cell to see SYQ but they also skipped how she got SYQ out without any resistance. Did he just let her take him or did they tie him up and take him? 2. Then on the hillside we have an “exchange” take place that wasn’t an exchange, maybe. The enemy sends up food but then realize XZ isn’t there but it looks like they knew they were dealing with FCY so why would that matter? At any rate, they attack and we see XZ attack but we don’t see that battle. Next scene we are back with FCY and the food. Btw, anyone eating food handed over by your enemy? 3. What happened to SYQ? FCY comes back with the food and thinks her group will get an award and says they exchanged SYQ for food. But on the cliffside shot we see that her men still have him. When did they give him up and why? You already have the food so why even hand him over. Or did they hand him over? What’s his status? Not sure if that was a mistranslation. I still enjoyed the episode. I love the princess and Mr. Sun. And I can watch XZ and FCY all day. I really love how they care for one another. They are definitely entering my top 10 of favorite Cdrama couples. On a side note, does anyone else get the vibe that FCY’s main pig gang friend likes her romantically? To just finish this thought, I think we all knew they were going to have to make some cuts down the line when they put so much time establishing the characters in the early episodes. We are only have 13 episodes left after the big reveal of XZ’s identity to FCY. That doesn’t leave much time to resolve all the side couple stories, the main couple’s story, the political storyline with the uncle and the Fan siblings mystery. I just hope the final stories aren’t edited to hell due to time. Too bad this isn’t a 60 episode series.
I'll say it again - it's one thing to make her humble and naive. It's another thing to make her a simple country…
I’m glad they didn’t make her a Mary Sue. She isn’t some genius who happens to be a great fighter. She’s not stupid, she just hasn’t been formally educated. That would be the norm for peasants and people in the countryside. She’s still a good person.
I tried to stop myself from watching but I had to see the reunion. I loved their first look at each other in so long. I loved the hug and her wanting to take her man home. Her not understanding that would be desertion was funny. It was so funny watching the other characters interact around them. Xie Jheng is just digging a deeper hole. He apologized for how they separated and now he will have to apologize again for lying. I thought that would have been a good point to tell her the truth. The scene with the princess was funny when she realized he was lying about his identity. It got me thinking that part of the reason FCY will be upset is because he’s making her look like a fool in front of everyone. After watching the previews I’m glad that they don’t drag out the fallout. I’m so ready to see the reconciliation and what comes after.
Xie Jheng, Yuanqing, Li Huaian and Mr. Jin. Anyone else I’m missing?
