Title The Road to Splendor Spoiler
I think she only just then understood he's not only after power and he has a solid reason? Which confused me....…
She loves ZL but she did remind him that, that man, was her father. We have to remember that she was living that high born lifestyle and was the good daughter up until granny tried to kill her. So while her father was awful, he was still the man she called father for 18 years before she met ZL. So it was very important for her know why ZL killed her father. I was mad at TY for how she forgave and helped Yake in the end but we have to remember it’s not easy to turn off emotions and connections developed over years. TY still cared about Yake and to some degree she still had a connection to her terrible dad. I love that these characters blur the lines and aren’t easily boxed into expectations.

Sen got a happy ending and dude disappear for 98% of the drama… dude literally did nothing …. Should show…
I feel like ASen’s story got cut from the second half of the drama. He was a big part of Zhao Ling’s life for the first half of the drama and basically disappears from the story in the second half.

After all the crimes they committed, the Ending for Yu Family is too good. It should have gotten a perfect score…
Definitely my favored drama of the year so far.

Title The Road to Splendor Spoiler
Ep. 33-36: My favorite scene from all the last 4 episodes is the scene between ML & Shameless/SML where ML…
If I remember correctly, TY convinced ZL to come with her to Ganlin because she was still seeking revenge and was trying to establish her name. She was going after Madam Zuo in Ganlin. As a woman she still needed a man to establish herself in Ganlin. That’s why she proposed the marriage. So she convinced him to take the crown prince’s offer to be his man. That’s the hook. As soon as he took the offer of the CP, he was hooked whether he stayed with TY or not. And TY did apologize for convincing him to stay with her for her own selfish reasons. So he was going to always end up in the capital working for the emperor once he decided to help TY with her revenge plot. As far as Yake goes, I hate that she’s in Ganlin as well but the writers did establish towards the end that Tingyun still had feelings and still cared about Yake. She gave money to help raise Yake’s son. So it’s not surprising that she would help Yake find her place in the world by giving her the job she had in Ganlin.

Not really. The way she went about her so called redemption was done well and satisfying. First she realised the…
Much of her redemption is based on the fact the Tingyun still, irrationally, still cares about her. She literally abandoned her kid with a crazy grandmother and good for nothing dad. It also doesn’t excuse she was willing to allow her best friend to die over a man. I felt she help save Tingyun just to stick it Jingxiu more so than for morality.

Why the main couple's daughter is older than the 2nd couple's son? 🤔
It’s really a montage showing how everyone is doing. The time could have been months or years apart. I only took that the Yake teaching was in the same time frame as their child.

There was a part of me that wanted a harsher end to the Yu family, but seeing it again from a different perspective,…
Great points but I would argue that what Jungxiu and Yake did was evil. They may not have been the masterminds but accusing a woman of adultry was a death sentence in those days. Yake’s argument that she could have married Zuo Junjie to save herself does not lessen their culpability.

That scene was indeed well done. Imo, she was surprised and heartbroken, but also ready to take it if he really…
Ancy did an amazing job in that scene. You could see the hurt, almost a sense of betrayal but knowing it was necessary and acceptance. She was willing to drink the poison to save him. And then when he took it, the sheer panic and terror. It was so well done and a great bookend to when she was going to be poisoned by her grandmother’s servants at beginning of series.

I also love it & ZL is one of my best ML.
Definitely. This is my second time watching him. Ding Yuxi and Ancy Deng did an amazing job. I already liked Ding Yuxi but I have now become a big fan of Ancy Deng. I can’t wait to see her on her next project. Any recommendations for any of her previous work?

Title The Road to Splendor Spoiler
Overall I enjoyed the series. Episodes 1-18 were near perfect, while episodes 19-32 were a bit rocky and left…
Lastly 32-36. This is what I mean when I say the emperor’s justice is inconsistent at best. Why are you letting Yu go home after all the evidence against him? You locked up ZL, FY and Mo right away. Why let him go home when he could tamper with evidence and come up with another scheme? In reality the whole family would have been executed. Jingxiu and Madam Yu got off way too easy. She’s indirectly responsible for Tingyun’s mom’s death. Jungxiu tried to kill both ZL and TY at one point or another in the story. I don’t care that they are paupers now. I don’t care that Madam Yu is crazy now. They both deserve severe punishment, not silver notes. And don’t get me started on the amount of time they were given to resolve their arcs. They should have been executed so that the story time could have gone to watching the leads. My other frustration is Fan Yake. Did she really do enough to be redeemed? Yake abandoned her child and got to live free as a teacher in Ganlin. Come on! Like I said, I just wished they would have wrapped up the villain arc sooner so we could have more sweet moments with the leads and their child. And as I said before, had they married earlier and had the child earlier, people wouldn’t be crying about such a short time with the sweet family at the end. But in the end, those issue didn’t ruin the whole series for me. Looking forward to rewatching and would definitely recommend.

Overall I enjoyed the series. Episodes 1-18 were near perfect, while episodes 19-32 were a bit rocky and left…
For episodes 19-31 I’m a fan of the court and high society politics in Cdramas so it worked for me. Loved the music and costumes here especially. I really loved Tingyun reuniting with her mother. The mom’s presence at the wedding, along with Zhao Ling’s words to her, brought tears to my eyes. The villains were infuriating but all well acted. Hated what happed to General Mo. The emperor’s justice was inconsistent at best. My biggest complaint about these episodes is that the wedding should have been longer and they should have given two episodes at least showing ZL and TY in a state of loving bliss before making their lives miserable. The characters and audience deserved that after the five year separation. I think it would allowed us to feel the impact of the misery more instead of getting tired of it.
